About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 163SueB1630 contributionsAmazing experienceWonderful experience , first time I have ever done any kind of cruise , so I wasn’t sure what to expect , and found the Royal Lily to be a lot better than I thought it would be , food was plentiful and delicious , including some lovely Egyptian options , rooms were quite large with a reasonable size bathroom , there is a lovely top deck with a very chilly swimming pool, and drinks can be ordered from the top deck , there is also a nice little gift shop that is so much easier than dealing with some of the local salesman and a better price, the only downsize was , water , soft drink or juice at the dinner table is at an extra cost ( not sure if that was our tour group ) or a standard thing , but It was a great experience cruising down the famous Nile RiverWritten November 9, 2024
- Z7017PKalexandraw0 contributionsAmazing Nile CruiseThis was the highlight of our trip to Egypt. 3 night/4 day trip from Aswan to Luxor. Fantastic boat, highly professional staff, marvellous food, well appointed cabin, very good tours with Egyptologist ( Emad?) - very well organised in small groups, with just 6 travellers in our bus with timings that missed the crowds. All in all could not ask for more - this is a must trip if you want to do a Nile cruise.Written September 28, 2024
- shyne770 contributionsPerfect mid-luxury Nile cruise! We enjoyed 4 nights which were booked as part of our Memphis Tours Egypt vacation package. The boat is modern decor, newer and well kept. The staff was so welcoming and caring and the food was really good. While you can certainly find more luxurious Nile Cruises, this boat and the crew were the best we encountered on our 4 days on the Nile. Believe me, when boats doc for the night, they line up, so often you walk through other boat lobbies to get off yours or from your deck while docked, you see other decks and pools. From the staff greeting, smell of the lobby, boat decor, deck amenities and the deep pool to dunk in with shallow lounging portions, we felt pretty lucky. we enjoyed great service, wonderful food and great drinks served poolside after long, hot tour days.Written May 21, 2024
- kristinae2090 contributionsCruising the NileThe Oberoi Zahra is a great way to get from Luxor to Aswan and see the Nile as well. We enjoyed 7 days on this amazing cruise. Staff was very accommodating. Our guide, Sam, our Egyptologist for the trip, was amazing and very knowledgeable about the history and sites of the many places we visited. Loved spending a week on this cruise.Written February 21, 2024
- I9399HApeterb0 contributionsA lovely 3 nights. The boat is clean and well appointed, the staff super attentive, food wonderful. Our fellow passengers limited in number and good to get to know. The guide was just brilliant and deserves special mention, Eman Maher Gerges. Very knowledgeable, great English and very human. Thank you team Oberoi.Written February 19, 2024
- Voyager467549851330 contributionsout of this world experience! We took the Luxor to Aswan Philae cruise early feb. We were very warmly welcomed by the staff who took great care of us during the entire trip. They even made special food for us as per our taste. The rooms are very clean well equipped with all modern amenities. The boat has a top sun deck where we enjoyed a lazy afternoon. The sightseeing was smooth and well organised. The egyptologist was quite knowledgeable and told us some really interesting stories. Highly recommend this cruise for a once in a lifetime experience!Written February 14, 2024
- hessen-680 contributions5 star experienceThere isn’t much more I can say that hasn’t already been said. The food alone on the trip was worth the money. My room was gigantic and everything was clean and fresh. It has everything you need, pool, spa and a gym. The excursions were lead by a guide who sounded like he experienced the actual history. Everything was well planned. Customer service was second to none. Staff is incredible; attentive to your every need and always up for friendly chat. It doesn’t matter if you have any kind of food allergies or that they have a meal plan already in place. The chefs are so talented, that they can whip up anything for you want at a moments notice. It doesn’t matter if you are vegetarian, vegan, or need gluten-free, they will cook whatever you order. I suggest letting them just make up their own because the chef will make some of the most amazing food to the most delicious Egyptian and Indian dishes. I do wish they would’ve given us an evening at the night market in Luxor. It’s nice that you don’t have to tip every time you eat as you tip at the end of the cruise. We were told suggested tip to be between $25-$30 per guest per day. Since this is what we were told by the staff, this is what we paid. Make sure you bring money with you because tipping the people that carry your luggage, the excursion, driver, and your guide to be paid in cash and separate. I would have liked to have added a day of exclusion at the night market in Luxor. Cruise staff, especially Hussian and Nasser taking such good care of me. Unfortunately, I cannot remember everyone’s name of the people that made breakfast lunch and dinner so enjoyable. My only complaint is that excursion leaders always take you to their friends’s shops which is pretty much with every excursion in Egypt. I can’t wait to take another Oberoy cruise.Written January 1, 2024
- SKS9420 contributionsAll we hoped for and moreJust absolutely wonderful. What a way to see the Nile and all the major ancient sites (as well as watching today’s Egypt go by as we sailed. The cabin was great and the food excellent. Everyone on board did everything to make sure we were spoilt and had everything we wanted. Excellent guide on the trips in very small groups. Everything we had hoped for and better. Our first cruise and a great experience all round.Written December 27, 2023

- Curious400286436260 contributionsLuxor - heart of the Ancient WorldLuxor is very much the heart of ancient Egypt, including two incredible temples, and both the valley of the kings and the valley of the queens. The valley of the kings itself includes 62 tombs, and including King Tuts. The city is located on the Nile, and is populated with lovely hotels, and many buying opportunities for well made alabaster objects as well as cotton goods. It is a must see for any trip to Egypt.Written December 4, 2023
- Michael S0 contributionsRomantic cruise on the exotic NileBeautiful accommodations and amazing crew. Thoroughly enjoyed our passage along the Nile from Luxor to Aswan. Egyptologist was excellent. Food on board was excellent. Only downside was engine noise and vibration in aft cabins but we were docked most nights.Written November 19, 2023
- 1devon0 contributionsMovenpick Sunray - it's fine - needs updatesCruising the Nile is a must when in Egypt, it's an amazing experience. We were on the Movenpick Sunray from Aswan to Luxor. We were told it was a new ship, but it was quite dated and we all agreed they put WAY too much furniture in the rooms (in my room with a queen size bed, they could have eliminated the dresser, a chair, and one of the two small tables). They also need better charging areas in the rooms. The service was great, the food was very good. I had my laundry done and they did a great job. The gift shop was not interesting, but most gift shops were not very good in Egypt. Hotel Marsam has the BEST gift shop of local artisans.Written November 16, 2023
- 598MarieM0 contributionsSo fabulous we want to sail again! The Oberoi Zahra rates a 10 out of 10! Not one negative aspect the entire 5 days! Due to the current war, despite Cairo being five hour drive away, many people cancelled their tours to Egypt. This hurts tourism and people's families' needs. We chose to continue our plans and instead of a full boat of 52 guests, we had 26. Staff were proportioned and they were very kind, accommodating, friendly, and of great humor. Staff are attentive without hovering. We were concerned some guests might be snobby but that was not the case at all. All guests were happy, charming, and friendly. The tours planned for the itinerary had a max of 6 guests for the drivers and the guide assigned. The drivers and guides are amazing! There is a nice smooth balance between the tour time and free time and dining time. The food on the boat is the best you will ever eat! It is plentiful, high quality, and generous portions. I had to ask for less portions and not waste food. The menus are varied each day and there are many choices. All diets are accommodated. We were low sodium and they did their best. I could go on and on praising the Oberoi Zahra and the best compliment is to sail again in the future!Written November 16, 2023
- Quest022977961660 contributionsS Star AMzing WondersI simply cannot say enough about our recent trip to Egypt with Alexander and Roberts. The tour director met us at the airport, picked up our luggage and escorted us through immigration/ security. We had an amazing limousine driver who navigated the crazy traffic and streets of Cairo. Beep! Beep! I simply cannot describe the wonder of seeing the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx in person. We had a special permit to the Sphinx that allowed us VIP access to areas off limits to visitors. My first photo was between his massive paws. I geeked out immediately with tears in my eyes, so lucky I was to be witnessing this wonder. We spent twelve days touring Egypt’s most iconic sites, including five amazing nights sailing aboard the Luxury Oberoi Zahra. The gourmet meals, attentive wait staff and spa services made me feel like a Queen. Private docking services gave us time to explore ashore before others arrived. Each night we found towel art that matched what we saw each day and caused us to break out into laughter on many occasion. Our guides were Egyptologists who gave us marvelous field talks, enriching our understanding at every turn. Our first guide Khaled Elhennawy, PhD, wrote his Masters on the Book of the Dead! Khaled’s knowledge of ancient Egyptian history, architecture and traditions was unsurpassed. He opened doors everywhere for us along the way, everyone knew him throughout Cairo and Alexandria and embraced us warmly. We felt like celebrities. Khaled was also something of a foodie and ordered delectable local dishes for us. He was always concerned about our comfort and paced the trip if we needed a break to linger longer to absorb it all. Yasser was our Egyptologist guide along the Nile in Luxor, Valley of The Kings, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan and Abu Simbel. His passionate talks described what others might have missed in the beauty of the carvings, paintings, and engineering marvels - his stories brought everything to life. We started to video his talks, so we didn’t miss a thing. Yasser, your energy was delightful! We always felt safe and secure and if Egypt is on your bucket list, now is the time to go. Less crowded and few lines. The people were gracious and welcoming. An Alexander and Robert’s tour is your ticket to a worry-free luxury experience.Written November 1, 2023
- AmyW8680 contributionsSimply the bestSimply the best. From the staff, accommodations, food and guides to the sites everything was first class. You will notice the difference when you have the sites to yourself or very limited people at them as they do that on purpose so you have the best time exploring around. The tours are limited to only 6 people or less ensuring a private experience. Do yourself a favor and book the suite D05 with the private jacuzzi on the back of the ship, worth every penny. This is the only cruise I would recommend to my friends and family.Written October 22, 2023
