About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- C3836DPandrear0 contributionsThe best experienceI had the best trip to Egypt thanks to Ancient Egypt Tours Salwa was always there to answer my questions and support me. I had the best guide in Cairo, who supported me in every way during my stay in the country, even when I traveled to my other destinations she remained attentive to support me in everything. My Luxor guide Ali was kind and patient with me and my family. In general I had the best trip in every way, the food, the stays, the people, the places; It was an incredible experience thanks to the company and I would definitely repeat it.Written November 30, 2024
- CRUISER55B0 contributionsGreat tour to ancient EgyptWe took Ancient Egypt Tours for a private tour from Alexandria Port to Sakkara, Memphis & Dashur and were all in all very satisfied with their service. Our friendly driver picked us up from the port on the agreed time. The car was clean and our driver did a great job driving us to the sites. One complaint, however, was that we couldn`t use the seat belts because the lower fastenings for the belts were missing or covered. Even though our driver drove us very skilfully through the heavy traffic, we didn´t feel particularly comfortable without the seat belts fastened. At the pyramids we then met our very nice and knowledgeable tour guide Aya. She spoke good English and gave us a wealth of information and explanations about all the sights. So we got many interesting insights into ancient egypt and returned to the port more than punctual after a great daytour.Written October 26, 2024
- 838greigl0 contributionsTouring Luxor with the best people. Our time in Luxor was great because we had the best people you could ask for to look after us, our host Tarek the driver Abdel and our guide Gabriel are the best people to tour Luxor with, we would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who is interested in doing a trip in Luxor, so we would like to thank you all very much, we have great lifetime memories of Luxor which the three of you helped to create. - A7115GX0 contributionsFun times in Cairo!I took the 5-day tour in Egypt (Cairo and Luxor) from this company. When I arrived in Cairo, I was picked up by a driver and drove me to the hotel. I stayed at Azal hotel which is nice, and also the breakfast was included. The following day, I was picked up by the driver name, Salwa, and met my tour guide, Aya El Ayouty (whats upp# +201102294143). She's an excellent guide. After the day tour, they dropped me of at the train station for a sleeper train. Note: Read the entirety of the brochure especially the "additional services", the sleep train cost is not included. I did not read it so I was surprised when I was asked to pay for the sleeper train which is $180. The train is an overnight ride and when I arrived in Luxor, I was greeted by my tour guide, Mohammed, (whatsapp# +201552669877). Mohammed is very intelligent and well knowledgeable about the Egyptian history. For those who love Egyptian history and want to learn a lot, I suggest to contact Mohammed directly to be your guide. It's just unfortunate for me because I did not get enough sleep at the sleeper train and did not consume enough coffee when I arrived in Luxor, thus, my brain is not equipped to retain all the information that Mohammed shared with me. Enough excuses, I was just not smart enough to remember all the details. Anyway, Mohammed is an excellent guide. After Luxor, I took the sleeper train again to go back to Cairo. I took the additional tour to go to Alexandria. At Cairo station, I was picked up by Ahmed and drove me to Alexandria. Once I arrived in Alexandria, my tour guide Nesroo (whatsapp#+201123092661), greeted me and started my tour to see the highlights of Alexandria. Once the tour is done, Ahmed drove me back to Cairo, back to my hotel at Azal. My last day in Cairo, I was picked up by Salwa and took me to the airport. In summary, I enjoyed this tour and totally recommend this tour. I read a previous review that this company needed more organization. For me, I took the initiative to message the tour operator, through whatsup, to confirm the pick up time and location for my next tour activity. In this way, there's no confusion and also kind of reminding the operator of your schedule. Hope this review helps. Have fun on your visit to Egypt.Written March 18, 2024
- cdandoy0 contributionsWonderful tour!Had the most amazing day being guided by Rasha. She gave great history of the area as we drove to our first spot. She made it clear that we can take our time and that she can take photos of us as desired. We loved the Citadel and Alabaster Mosque. Loved the details about Islam Rasha provided. We got to go out to Cave Church which was amazing! Our driver did a good job there and truly the whole day. We also were able to see the Hanging Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue, and Saint Sergius & Bacchus Church. Rasha provided us with great information at every location. She offered us the opportunities to shop and have lunch. We could have gone to the Bazaar but instead went to the School of Carpets. Rasha checked in with us to make sure we were having a good time and that each stop was to our satisfaction. She even offered to book evening activities for us. We had a nice time with Rasha as our guide for the day.Written March 18, 2024
- helenemoscow0 contributionsVisit to Egyptian Museum and GizaThe Egyptian Museum was rather disappointing, there are a huge amount of interesting artifacts, but not well displayed, but there are some really amazing treasures, but perhaps the experience will be improved when the new Musuem opens which is planned for June, 2024. The cost of entry to the Musuem is around 12 Euro (is not included in the package), remind the guide that children should pay half price (student's ticket). they supply you with earphones, so you can hear what the guide as you go around. Giza was interesting, but the camel ride is not included, please note you should NOT PAY MORE THAN 500 Egyptian Pounds, as this is written everywhere, but nobody tells you this on entry and the signs are at the exit. It is quite an experience to go inside one of the pyramids, the main one, requires additional payment (as most things seem to), but there is also a 2nd one much smaller and narrower, which is included in the entry cost, but it is not for the faint -hearted, as it is very narrow and warm inside.Written February 23, 2024
- 705julif0 contributionsBEWARE!This trip was unorganized from the beginning. Had a specialized tour planned with Salwa, but not followed. Meeting place information was vague and took much longer to get to then stated. Met tour person, no introduction or information given about day. Finally sent to bus only to be moved to another bus. Again, just sat there with no information or introduction. Finally, the driver got in and took off an hour late with no introduction or information. Most bizarre excursion I have ever been on. Stopped and picked up a guide and went to museum. Hard to follow guide with no visual item to follow. We had an unwanted hour stop at a perfume place. Next went to restaurant which they weren't ready or expecting us. Finally went to pyramid area for camel ride. Constant asking for money and mad if you didn't give enough. Ride was over an hour, way too long. My camel which was new and obviously untrained, spooked and threw me off. I was in excruciating pain. Still got me on bus, took a boat ride to dinner show. Had to be helped because of pain and collapsed on the boat deck. Dinner was horrible food and entertainment subpar. Just wanted to get back to the ship because of pain, but stuck. Finally got to van to go back. Bus driver and husband tried to help me at rest stop, but felt like I was going to pass out, so they loaded me back on van. Excursion was not as planned and more concerned about money than customer welfare. Went to ship clinic upon return, ended up in hospital in Turkey. Internal bleeding, 5 broken ribs, damaged kidney. Spent 8 days there before insurance sent a nurse to escort us on flight home. 1st excursion of the cruise, so rest of cruise missed. I reached out to Ancient Egypt for a refund for injuries sustained under their care. They said I completed the tour and hoped I enjoyed it. More concerned about reviews than my well-being. Most horrendous excursion with an uncaring company. Know ahead of time, if you book with this company, they will not follow an itinerary, will make stops to get kick backs and by the time you make it to the pyramids, you will have limited or no time. Some in our group did not make it there in time. Also, you are taking life altering risks that this company takes no responsibility for.Written December 6, 2023
- maryanncc0 contributionsDisappointing - rate as 2.5.Salwa, who was lovely to work with making arrangements, customized a tour for a group of us from a cruise ship. The itinerary was to be as follows: the Egyptian Museum, a felucca ride on the Nile, lunch, and the Pyramids, accompanied by a guide. Entrance fees were included in the price. The Museum itself has a wonderful collection. Unfortunately photos were not allowed in the King Tut exhibit. Our guide did not hold up a sign, flag or object to indicate where she was in the very crowded museum, so it was difficult to locate and follow her at times. We next went to what was supposed to be the felucca ride on the Nile. Our ride was actually on a small motorized boat, not on a felucca!! A stop at a perfume factory, which not on the itinerary, was next. We spent over an hour there. We finally arrived at the pyramids at ~3:45 PM. At no time were we close to the pyramids, nor did we enter them even though entrance fees were included. We viewed the pyramids from the camel-ride area, which is some distance away. By the time we got down to the Sphinx we were losing light so many of our photos are in silhouette and lack detail. We had to hurry to get whatever photos we could; a very stern security guard was telling us we had to leave because the site closed at 4:30 PM. Afterward we stopped for a paper-making demonstration, also not on the itinerary, which delayed us returning to the port. Overall, the tour did not meet our expectations and thus was disappointing.Written December 4, 2023
- randywM8519EV0 contributionsCan not recommendThis tour 'could' have been much, much better if the guides were more interested in their guests' enjoyment instead of how they could make more money from them. It was painfully obvious that they were getting kickbacks from the vendors they were taking us to visit, and they insisted on taking us to money-sucking vendors regardless of our reluctance to go. The guides were nice enough people, but they are driven by their own self interests rather than those of their customers. I can not recommend them..Written November 24, 2023
- V4866DPjanetc0 contributionsSpending more time in a shop than pyramids:-(Our tour guide, Ms. Marwa did not follow the established itinerary of that day. We started with visiting the museum (as stated in the itinerary) and then proceeded with the felucca boat ride (which was not a real felucca, but that did not bother me too much). However, what really frustrated me was that, despite the fact that we were ALREADY late when we departed from Alexandria, Ms. Marwa spent at least 30 minutes sorting us into 3 or 4 different groups. I can’t speak to what happened with the other groups, but for us, by the time we finished with the boat, it was already 1pm. According to the itinerary provided, we were supposed to go to the pyramids from 12-3pm, which should have given us plenty of time to enjoy what many would consider the highlight of this tour. Instead, we were taken to a perfume shop, where we spent over an hour of our limited and precious time listening to a sales pitch. After the perfume shop, it was already after 2pm - I thought we should at least start heading for the pyramids at that point. However, Ms. Marwa decided we needed to go get lunch first. I understand that everyone needs to eat, but given that we were already running so late, I believe everyone in the group would have settled for just something quick, like chips or sandwiches to save some time. Instead, we were at the restaurant until way past 3pm. By the time we finally arrived to the pyramids, it was already 3:46pm! So, we did not get to walk around the pyramids - we only got to drive around in the bus. We did get our camel ride from the back side of the pyramids, but we were asked to leave by 4:37pm because they were closing. I was especially frustrated because we spent less time at the pyramids than at the perfume shop. We flew across the ocean and spent over 15 hours on a plane and 3 hours drive to Cairo specifically to see and properly admire the pyramids, one of the wonders of the world. If you think we need to pay more for the tour to get enough time there, I would encourage you to charge more. Please do not waste our precious time on sales pitches. Given current world events, we are not sure if we will ever have a chance to come back again in the future. To me, this is UNACCEPTABLE!!!! Our priority on this tour should have been the pyramids, which is clearly supposed to be the highlight of the tour.Written November 16, 2023
- heidimJ8869AO0 contributionsWOWWe did the 10 day trip, with a cruise. I was expecting a group tour, but to my surprise it was a private tour with my wife and I. Our guides Walid and Mahmoud were AMAZING! They had so much experience and knowledge that it amazed me. We managed to see so much of the country, and took advantage of all of the optional tours. We normally do not book tours for the entire trip, but, we would have felt lost without them. Egypt is an amazing country, but if you are from a Western country, having a guided tour makes the cultural differences much easier to navigate.Written September 19, 2023
- I9902LSsamj0 contributionsFour day Cairo TourWe had a four day tour through Cairo. We had Reham as our tour guide, and Muhammad Number 1 as our chauffeur for the tour, Number 1 driver in all of Africa! Reham was great as our guide and had good historical knowledge of all the ancient sites. Great communication from the tour company regarding airport collection, hotel collection, our itinerary etc. All around great experience and value for money!Written September 7, 2023
- BinaOnABudget0 contributionsAn evening tour to beat the heat of a hot summer's day!We had an amazing tour with a personal guide via Ancient Egypt Tours. Waleed Adnan, our new Nubian friend (from Ancient Egypt tours), is a polite and respectful guide who is also quick with a smile and has a good sense of humour. Waleed was able to brief us on the history and relevance of various points of interest around the city and take us in to see more of those we chose to see more of. We chose to do pur tour after dinner in the cool night air and Aswan was very much awake and shining. Waleed is eager to ensure that your tour is the best that it can be, even to haggling for the best prices (on your behalf) should you be interested in purchasing any souvenirs at the market or elsewhere. When I usually travel, I would not arrange a guide but this experience has changed my mind. I will recommend Waleed Adnan (and Ancient Egypt Tours) to anyone I know travelling to Egypt.Written July 1, 2023
- Brett S0 contributionsWaleed amazing guide - Ancient Egyptian tours good but could be better organisedWe had booked Ancient Egypt Tours throughTourradar from Australia so expected better connection between transports. This creates some challenges - That said, the guides Waleed Adman (Nubien) & Riham were spectacular- knowledgeable, personable and very willing to make a great experience. Waleed in Aswan was a highlight and I think he knows everyone in Aswan if not all of Egypt. He arranged additional tours to Abu Simbal, Nubien Village and Aswan night tour on horse drawn cart. He was there early, he waited patiently for us at attractions and was a wealth of knowledge about ancient sites around Aswan and Luxor and the Nubien people. We had an amazing time and accomodation was great. I would recommend flying from Cairo to Aswan rather than a train trip which was just ok but sleep was difficult.Written July 1, 2023
- Lyndsay G0 contributionsAVOID AT ALL COSTSAwful company, they might as well have robbed me. Booked a four day tour with accommodation and transport at 'five star' standard. Driver and tour guide were super lovely, kind, friendly and could not do enough- but this is where it stopped. The car provided was old and falling apart the hotel was possibly the worst hotel in Cairo- 2 star is flattery. Check out my review on the Golden Tolip Cairo for details. Paid via the tour company but they were not interested in rectifying the situation, just wanted to charge me three times as much as booking.com for a new hotel. spent half the holiday rebooking arrangements and arguing with the tour company. Disaster, totally ruined holiday. Avoid at all costs, I basically paid $700 for 2 half days of sightseeing.Written June 4, 2023
