About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- aztravelers_110 contributionsExcellent tours of the ancient sites with painless logisticsGo Luxor Tours was recommended to me on a frequent traveler group. I sent a contact email and received a prompt reply from Mike. After a couple of emails to tailor my experience to what we wanted, we accepted the proposal and booked several days worth of tours in Cairo, Luxor and a private transfer to Hurghada in addition to all the airport transfers. As the day approached Mike contacted me to confirm the details and was in contact when we landed at Cairo at close to 3AM. Our tour guide Mario and driver Paul were waiting for us and took us to our hotel. The next tow days we visited the Egyptian Museum, a bazaar, Giza pyramids and Saqqara pyramid. Mario was knowledgeable and fun to spend the days with. In Luxor, Mike picked us up and we went straight to the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and an evening boat ride on the Nile. The following day we toured Karnak and Luxor Temples with Mike then were driven in a private vehicle to a few days in Hurghada. The airport transfers were perfect and less expensive than coordinating with the hotel(s). Overall, I would highly recommend them for not only the tours, but all logistics while being in Egypt. As an American that has travelled to several countries, Egypt, by far, would have been the most overwhelming to try and navigate alone.Written September 8, 2024
- Camper576914127330 contributionsFabulous Egyptian vacationWe had a fabulous Egyptian vacation with Go Luxor. We went from Cairo to Hurghada. Michael and his team were wonderful- very informative, professional and fun to be with. Michael even helped us through some illnesses. We would highly recommend Michael and his team.Written September 3, 2024
- rumeshv20200 contributionsMemorable experience! Our trip was very well organized by Michael and his colleagues. Michael was the point of contact for us throughout the trip. He was very helpful and responsive. Since this was our first time to Egypt, we had lots of questions. Michael helped us with the process and planned our trip really well. We requested a custom itinerary outside of their standard packages as our trip was for 10 days. We did Giza (Pyramids), Aswan & Luxor (lots of beautiful temples) and Hurghada (only drive from the airport to the hotel was included in Michael's package). Overall, we had a great experience and lots of great memories.Written September 1, 2024
- AnnetteJochoa0 contributionsGoLuxorTours is the best!!We did a private tour of the Pyramids and Museum in Giza with Mario thru GoLuxorTours. It was amazing, Mario even arranged a camel ride. Then we flew to Aswan and met with Mike also thru GoLuxorTours. We went did the Nile cruise for three days! We had a wonderful time. Went to see the Ramses 11 temple and then stopped to see the tombs in valley of the kings. And the temple ruins in Karnak, also the temple of Nefertiti . Mike was very knowledgeable and patient with all our questions, took us to a local market, a papyrus store and a rug store. It’s amazing to see all the beautiful artwork and techniques produced by these young artists. Then Mike arranged an amazing balloon ride on our final day. Thank you Mike for your great sense of humor and your knowledge. We had such a wonderful experience.Written August 27, 2024
- loomingdeadline0 contributionsYou wont be disappointed going with Go Luxor Tours! We just returned from a week-long tour of Egypt with Go Luxor Tours, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. From the moment we booked our tour via WhatsApp to departure, the company's communication and customer service were top-notch. They helped plan our visits and provided great recommendations on hotels and places to eat. The tour was a mix of city exploration and outdoor adventure, with highlights like visiting the Pyramids and taking a hot air balloon ride over the Nile. Our local guides were knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and always going above and beyond. Mike brought the ancient sites to life with his expertise and passion, and his warm hospitality made us feel like we were a part of the family. He surprised us with snacks and drinks, remembered a birthday in our group, and made sure we felt safe and had everything we needed for a good trip. We also were impressed by Mike's flexibility and willingness to adjust the tour to our interests. (And to bring us to a pharmacy and find the right thing when we sorely needed something) His energy and enthusiasm were contagious, even on the most exhausting days. The tour was an investment, but it was worth every penny. We felt safe, supported, and pampered throughout our journey, and the memories we created will last a lifetime. You wont be disappointed going with Go Luxor Tours.Written August 23, 2024

- 24claytonp0 contributionsWonderful English Language Solo TourI did the solo, single-day tour of Abu Simbel and the Philae Temple Complex in Aswan. I was provided an excellent driver who arrived on time and an incredibly informative guide named Mike. I have never been on a guided tour before, and I am so glad this was my first. They provided excellent, professional, and speedy service along with snacks, and several tips for my stay in Egypt. If you are solo, a couple, or a group, and are looking for an effective, English-language tour that truly gives you your money's worth, look no further—this is the place!Written July 12, 2024
- kayteeo880 contributionsBespoke Nile Artisan TourI wanted to learn about traditional weaving techniques on the Nile and was able to have this arranged through this agency with guide Michael Samir. I enjoyed the experience and found it to be very educational. Michael was kind, polite and professional. He was an excellent translator and helped me to have a greater understanding of the weaving process in Egypt as well as the culture which the particular family we visited was living in. I was happy with the experience and the outcome of the trip. Michael is a knowledgeable guide and I would recommend him to groups and solo tourists.Written July 5, 2024
- thomaspX8098JK0 contributionsDefinitely book Go Luxor Tours with MichaelMichael from Go Luxor Tours was incredible! It was like travelling with another friend but a friend who had incredible knowledge. Our tour with Michael started with the Valley of the Kings where he selected the best tombs to visit. Michael knew the story behind every Tomb even without being able to go inside. He knew what each of the hieroglyphic scenes could mean as you dived into the depths of each kingdom. Next was the temple of Hatshepsut and Valley of the Queens where the same could be said about Michael’s great knowledge. He tailored his talks to what we wanted to learn and our level of knowledge of Ancient Egypt. He also always had a fun story to keep the journeys exciting but light hearted - great in the Egyptian heat. We then visited both Karnak and Luxor temples where we started to experience more of Michael’s great sense of humour and even more of his extensive knowledge. We learnt so much here and was one of the highlights of our trip. We also got to witness Michael’s photography abilities as he helped us pose like an Egyptian and get the best shots with our camera, again always adding to the fun. The next long car trips took us down to Edfu, Kom Ombo then Aswan. Each of these areas all with different stories and experiences. It is one thing to do a day tour but Michael was with us for a few days and the way he tailored and delivered his knowledge to us meant we could actually remember the different temples and significant sites, not just some trivia to forget after an hour. Finally was Abu Simbel for us with Michael. He stayed with us the whole time in the airport and always made us feel safe in a hectic day to travel to and from Aswan. He made sure we kept moving so we got to experience this incredible place before all the crowds of the other tour groups, a constant theme across our private experience. Thank you again Michael, you really did make our experience fun, safe and memorable for all the right reasons. Not a bad word to say.Written July 5, 2024
- Michael M0 contributionsGo Luxor created the perfect layover tour for us!Extremely good experience from start to finish. My wife and I were in Cairo for a 10 hour layover and Go Luxor helped us make the absolute most of our time there. First off, communication was flawless as they actively kept us informed, answered any question we had, and coordinated everything. We arrived in Cairo at 5:30am and I already had a message letting me know that they were watching the flight and will be waiting for us outside the airport. Sure enough, as soon as we walked out we saw our guide Francis holding a sign with our name on it, he welcomed us to Cairo and we walked together to our ride for the day parked nearby. The car and driver were excellent. We found ourselves in a clean and comfortable electric car and our driver navigated us safely to Giza while our guide informed us about the history and culture we were about to experience. We were provided with cold water bottles and offered snacks or anything else we needed. We felt safe and comfortable right away. Upon reaching the pyramids we were dropped off right at the entrance, our guide provided tickets, and next thing we knew we were sitting on the great pyramid of Giza while our guide took some excellent photos for us. We walked the area while being informed of interesting facts about the formation of the pyramids and local geography, stopping for photo opportunities and having a good time doing it. Next we headed to a scenic overlook to take in the sight and get some more photos. Following that we visited the Sphinx and toured the area around it. The whole experience was perfect, just what we were wanting. Next we had a choice of getting food or checking out some local shops, we went for the shops. One stop had a demonstration of papyrus making and art available, another where you could purchase jewelry or items with customized hieroglyphics and a third with tons of fresh herbs and spices to try. They were all great stops and we never felt overly pressured to buy anything. We also got to try Turkish coffee and were offered free drinks by the hospitable and friendly shop owners. Finally we visited Cairo Museum where our knowledgeable guide, Francis, told us all about the artifacts on display and the museum itself. It was truly an amazing experience, rich in culture and history, and viewing it with our guide was the best way we could have seen it. So, honestly, I couldn’t recommend this company more. Truly perfect scores across the board. Our coordinator communicated perfectly, our driver kept us safe and comfortable, and our guide was friendly, informative, and genuinely good company to spend the day with. In the back of my mind, I was thankful multiple times through the day that I didn’t book with a bargain rate company. If you’ve read this far, you should definitely go ahead and book with them. They will take care of you!Written June 20, 2024
- 606maevet0 contributionsWe had an amazing trip with Go Luxor! We had an incredible trip with our guides Mike and George!! Mike worked with us for a few months prior to our trip to organize a Nile cruise and a number of private tours from Aswan to Luxor. We really appreciated their flexibility in accommodating extra tours for us at the last minute and switching up the schedule to make sure we saw everything we were interested in. We were really glad we opted to do private tours, in some places we had the entire site to ourselves, which provided a really unique and incredible experience. Mike and George were both super knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions in detail. We also really appreciated that they helped us set up car transfers once our tour ended and we left for Cairo to meet friends. We had a once-in-lifetime trip and a great experience. We highly recommend Go Luxor!!Written May 25, 2024

- 497lous0 contributions4 days / 3 nights Nile Cruise fantasticFantastic guide, pretty transparent, incredible sights and all logistics handled very smoothly. Michael as a guide specifically takes great photos of couples haha... Learned so much and had an awesome time. Warning that some parts of the itinerary are not super transparent/clear at first. Wake up is at 5 am most days, and the first day of the Nile cruise is only one thing (Philae temple). That was fine with us because we were super tired, but a cruise is probably not what you want if you're looking for jam packed days. Definitely do the add-ons: Abu Simbel and hot air balloon in Luxor were amazing.Written May 15, 2024

My boyfriend and I used Go Luxor Tours for a quick trip to Cairo. We could not have had a better experience! We were able to fit almost everything on our list in three days. Michael arranged everything and checked in with us daily to make sure everything was going well. I cannot stress how easy and thorough everything was. All I did was inquire through their website, tell them what we were interested in seeing, and Michael took care of everything from there.
Francis was our guide for all three days and made our experience fantastic. He was friendly, professional, timely, intelligent, and thoughtful. He had a deep understanding of all aspects of Egyptian history. He had a ton of information on every place we visited and on parts of Cairo we passed on our drives. Francis was clearly very passionate about his job and both ancient and modern Egyptian history. On top of that, he made sure we were taken care of on any non-tour related needs.
I highly recommend using this company for any trip to Egypt. I hope to come back to see more sights at some point in the future, and would 1000% not hesitate to book through them again.

I don't really know where to begin, this was a pretty mind-blowing trip for me! I originally contacted Go Luxor Tours for a car transfer service between Hurghada and Luxor, but after speaking to Michael Samir I ended up booking a lot more with them. Michael was never pushy or trying to hustle me. In fact, I originally scheduled the transfer from Hurghada to Luxor and wasn't planning on scheduling anything else, but he offered to schedule tours if I wanted to see what he had available. I said sure, send over what you have and I'll think about it. An entire month went by and he never once bothered me about the tours or tried to pressure me. After that I decided to reach back out and book with him, and I booked a tremendous amount. We did the entire thing through WhatsApp and I never needed to speak to him over the phone. First time I heard his voice was when we met-up in Luxor!
There is no way you are going to see what I saw and be as efficient and educated during the trip as I was if you don't book with someone like these guys. I was originally planning to walk everywhere, rent a bike or take Uber's. That would have been a mistake with the heat of summer over there, so I'm lucky that I didn't try to ride a bike around. With Uber's you aren't going to get an Egyptologist and if you read the final section of my review, you will also why it was great to have the same people with me. You also are going to have to deal with buying your own tickets to things and trying to figure out where to go and understand what you are looking at. You won't get even a fraction of the experience without having Egyptologists with you. If you are trying to take this trip on your own and you don't speak Arabic, leveraging these guys is well worth it. I came to trust both Michael and Francis and I am still talking to them even after my return to the US. They took really great care of me!
Go Luxor haa a great option to pay with Western Union which I was originally concerned about because of the scams you read online, but I will say that after talking to Michael about his business I learned that he uses them to cut down on fees. You can always bring cash with you to pay, if you prefer, but I didn't want to carry that much money on me so I used the Western Union option. I believe he has PayPal, too, but again, out of respect for his business I wanted to keep the fees low for him. Michael is honest and I will say that you can trust paying him through Western Union. They did everything they said they would do and more!
I'll break this down into 3 different sections: the itinerary, the trip description, and the extra value I got out of these guys.
ITINERARY
- I used them for airport pickup and drop-off in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.
- I used them for a Hurgahda to Luxor private driver.
- I scheduled the following tours with them:
A) Aswan: Nubian village tour, Nile river boat tour, Abu Simbel visit
B) Luxor: Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut's Temple, Valley of the Nobles, Valley of the Workers
C) Cairo: Giza pyramids, Sakkara, Red & Bent Pyramids, Sakkara/Dahshur, Serapeum, 5 different famous mosques, Salah Al-Din Al-Ayoubi Castle, Garbage City walking tour, cave churches, and Khan el-Khalili bazaar.
D) Private driver the entire time. You don't have to worry about how to get around. The drivers that they all had were safe and respectful. Just enjoy the trip!
DESCRIPTION
The trip was split into a few different sections. I had Francis in Cairo, and Michael in Luxor and Aswan. I had 4 different drivers during all the trips and transfers. All 4 of them were great and I would place my wife and daughter into the same vehicle with these guys.
I can't believe how much I saw while I was in Egypt. I highly recommend that you take the time to see some of the lesser seen parts of Egypt with these guys. For example, if you aren't making the time to see Abu Simbel, you are missing out on a breath-taking monument. One of the greatest rulers of Egypt, Ramses II, had this built to guard the southern border of Egypt. Also, I don't think many people know about the Serapeum, but if you want to see the most mysterious and unexplained sarcophagi in the WORLD, then you should take the extra time. Yes, go see the pyramids of Giza, but they are not the most interesting and exciting sites of Egypt. I read reviews just like this one before I went to Egypt and I didn't believe it until I set foot into the Serapeum. Ask for Francis for Cairo and the Serapeum! It's really fun chatting with him about the mysteries of the Serapeum while you're inside!
The guides were fantastic. Michael and I took the train together from Luxor to Aswan so he stayed with me through the entire southern part of the trip. Both guides were with me during the airport transfers, as well. They both speak excellent English and are both professionally studied Egyptologists. You're going to come home and feel like you are the Egypt expert amongst your family and friends after hanging out with these guys for a week!
VALUE
This is where I need to list off a ton of unexpected things that I got by booking through these guys.
- I had a bit of a stomach issue from something I ate in Hurghada. I told the guide and suddenly we appear near a pharmacy and he picked up medication for me which helped straighten me out.
- There was bottled water in the vehicle during every pickup. You're going to need this, especially if you're traveling in summer when it's HOT!
- The guides taught me a lot of Arabic while I was there. I was able to order my own food a couple times and say some basic things in Arabic to people which made the trip much more rich and enjoyable.
- The guides teach you how to negotiate. Egypt uses a barter system for buying things in a lot of places. I did exactly what Michael said to do and was able to get the exact prices he suggested (which are about 20% of what they initially try to get you to pay in some of the tourist areas).
- I like collecting money. I told Michael and he picked up nice crisp notes and coins for me from the bank and he had this ready for me before I even arrived to meet him, so I didn't have to spend my time trying to find it on my own.
- They help carry your bags (which was good when you have a ton of SCUBA gear like I did from diving in Hurghada)
- They know the best Egyptian restaurants and take you to them.
- They know the legit shops in case you want to buy things like handmade artwork or real alabaster or real papyrus art. There is fake stuff being sold all over the tourist areas which the guides will teach you how to avoid.
- Michael and Francis both checked-in with me on every detail. Before I left, Michael was reminding me how critical it was to have a hat for the sun and to constantly drink water so I didn't dehydrate. Francis would always double-check with me to make sure I had my passport with me. Any time we got out of the car, they would notify me when there wouldn't be a bathroom close by for a bit, and would ensure I always had a bottle of water with me so I didn't dry out in the hot desert sun.
- Michael and I went to the grocery store so we could have some good food on the train to Aswan and not spend more on the train service.
- Michael is able to get you about 50% off on Egyptair for intra-country travel. If you aren't booking your Egyptair flights through him, you are wasting your money. I had him book Cairo to Hurghada and Aswan to Cairo.
- Toward the end of the trip, I was feeling homesick and a bit sleep deprived from pushing myself so much. Francis was worried about me and waited in the airport parking lot for HOURS until the moment I told him I had boarded the plane and headed for home.
- Michael jumped out of the car and grabbed some sugarcane juice for us because I told him I'd never tried it before.
- Michael had excellent hotel suggestions for each place where I stayed.
- Francis always had nice coffee candies in his bag to start the day, or for when I needed a bit of pep to keep pushing through the day!
- Michael saved me when I called him because there was no toilet paper in one of the bathrooms and I forgot to check before I used the toilet!
- I bought some artwork and had to have it shipped via DHL: Michael came with me to ensure that I had everything insured, listed in the shipping computer and packaged correctly to ship back home
- Michael scheduled the lab doctor to come to us for the PCR test to get back home
- Michael constantly reminded me about not forgetting my PCR test and eVisa before I left the US.
I will say that I started my trip by meeting up with some guides who were mostly strangers to me. I can honestly say that I left Egypt feeling like I gained 2 friends who shared the experience with me. If I ever come back, I will definitely book with these guys, again. They are truly special to me and I was treated both like a prince and a cherished friend. This might sound cheesy, but you can go it alone and just bumble around the tombs and pyramids and not really understand what you're looking at, but if you want some better memories and experience that will truly touch you and last you for a lifetime, I would book with Go Luxor Tours. You're traveling around the world to see and learn about Egypt, so make it the best you can.

Our guide was Francis who was very knowledgeable, and he also took a lot of great pictures for us! Highly recommended!
