Dendera and Abydos tour from Luxor with Peter
We have a great tour to Dendera and Abydos with Peter today from Luxor. It was well organised and we had plenty of time to see the temples. Peter was able to explain all the significant points of interest well. We especially enjoyed the crypts in Dendera - it’s a must see.

The Best Tour of our Trip to Cairo
We had a fantastic day with Mahmoud (our guide) and our driver. They arrived on time and took us to the Pyramids in Saqqara & Dahshur and the statue of Ramses II in Memphis. Mahmoud obviously has a passion for Egyptian history and was very happy to impart all of his detailed knowledge, which we loved. Indeed he could even read some of the hieroglyphics! In our opinion this trip is better than visiting the Giza pyramids (which are amazing). It was less crowded and the views are striking. The Step Pyramid complex is vast and is still being excavated. We also got to venture inside both the Bent Pyramid and the Red Pyramid. This is not for the faint hearted and requires a lot of physical exertion. However, it is definitely worth the effort. There is not a lot to see in Memphis, but the massive statue of Ramses II is stunning. We didn't feel rushed at any point and we declined a visit to the carpet factory. We were dropped back at our hotel almost 6.5h after we started. Note: There was a technical problem every time when we tried booking this tour through TripAdvisor/Viator and so we ended up booking directly with Emo tours instead.

Tours are good but non reliable operator
Guides and drivers are good, tour is good, but tour operator is terrible. They are very rude and unreliable. We sent picking up point with map with exact markers in Aswan, but operator or driver did not come. We wait for an hour but they don't come and cancel our tour. We were wasting time. They did not answer on Whatup. Operator did not do anything for recovery. We contacted so many times but no recovery plan from this company. After that, we changed tour company for remaining tours and they have reliable operators.

Felt very rushed throughout the tour. With very poor quality restaurant named Caviar tour leader took us.
The highlight of the tour with Mr. Aladdin was his great abilities to take pictures. There are some points I like to mention about him and the tour. He really rushed us through pyramid viewing. As soon as he took pictures of us he wanted to move, even if my parents wanted to take pictures themselves you could feel that he is being annoyed. He didn’t let us to go and buy anything from the local bazaar by the site. They scared us that they are all bad people and wants to trick us. At the end he took us to a restaurant that he asked for 15$ per person. The restaurant named Caviar. It was a buffet but pop and drinks were not included. Which for 3 Pepsi we paid 3 times more than regular places. The food was really really poor quality. Yet he said that’s the best for trying Egyptian food. At the end when I told him the food was not even average, he got annoyed with me. Even he was asking for more tips when my father gave him the norm amount. He recorded a video of us that we said everything was great. But that video was before all bitterness.

        The best tour company
We are a retired couple from the USA We researched local tour companies a lot on TripAdvisor and nailed in on Emo Tours. Oh man! where do I start?? Let us start with M. Torky our agent. I would give him 10 stars if I could. He was not only efficient and attentive, he was very humble and giving. All the bookings and itinerary went like clockwork with no snags. Then came the driver and guide in Cairo. Driver Mohammed El Gazawey and Egyptologist (guide) Salwa were absolutely wonderful!! Driver was a careful and patient driver. So eager to please! Salawa was very educated and skilled in her knowledge of Egypt. We were lucky to have this team for the entire 4 days in Cairo. A day trip to Alexandria brought another local guide who was very good. She was informed and patient. Next we went to Luxor and were met with a driver ( Ahmed) and a helper and transported to our hotel Smiley Ahmed was fantastic. He was a careful driver as well. There was a confusion ( our fault) regarding the cruise check in and our guide Carlos called us right away and put us at ease. Spoke fluent English. He met us the next day on time. Ahmed was spot on time as well. After some sight seeing, we were transferred to the boat and we were surprised to see that Carlos was to sail with us and take us to venues when we docked! He kept checking on us the entire trip to see if we needed anything. When in the Temple of Philae, I lost my Iphone and Carlos went out of his way to ensure that I found it! When we docked in Aswan, we had Carlos and another driver take us around. A wonderful trip in Aswan as well. The driver met us at the boat and take us to the temple at 5 am! I highly recommend Eno Tours. Start to finish, they held our hand and made sure that they gave us the best experience ever. The 24 hour customer service was a great help. We kept asking them questions and they never lost patience. The itinerary was packed and had a huge variety including felucca rides, motor boats and visit to a park They booked our hotels and the cruise ( Blue Shadow 1) which was from the Princess Cruise Lines. If you are looking for a great tour company, look no further. Emo Tours is top of the pile.

        Nice trip
It was great. My driver, Mohamed, was the most patient and kind. He showed me beautiful places with the best spots for my photos. I enjoyed the route and the music. I'd take again a tour.

Be Organised and Do Your Research
As an independent traveller, I like to book my own accommodation/itinerary but use the services of a local tour operator to provide transfers/guides/drivers. I had done all my research for Egypt and especially in todays politically sensitive times, it was even more so important to ensure all transfers/guides were door-to-door. I emailed my itinerary to Emo in November (for December/January) and very quickly got an acceptable quote, and therefore accepted. Like alot of countries, 'WhatsApp' seems to be the best method of communication when you are on the go - which overall seemed to work. I did have 2 contacts for Emo, while we were travelling - which sometimes did get confusing, as messages ie. change of times etc did not get conveyed. On the whole though, it worked. I would highly recommend booking tickets to sites online prior to travelling. I weighed up the Luxor/Cairo pass but some of the sites that i wanted to see, were not part of those tickets. Overall, it probably cost about $850 AUD for all tickets (for 2 pax/2 weeks - so worth factoring into the budget). We created a two week itinerary - Luxor - Aswan - Abu Simbel - Alexandria - Cairo. Agree to some of the other reviews/comments, drivers were not necessarily easily found ie. not a sign, inside the airport (as an example) but having to find them outside (or message, to find them). Probably would recommend to clearly communicate with Emo prior, to ensure you know where your pick-up/person will be. Most of the drivers had limited English skills so we used the translator on our phones - which seemed to work ok. We had Ashraf (Guide) for our four days in Luxor - what an amazing Guide/Egyptologist - have learnt so much and so patient with us - we had some slightly different itinerary requirements and was always willing to accommodate. We had Magdi (Guide) for our trips in Aswan and once again very knowledgeable and accommodating. We had an amazing driver on our trip to Abu Simbel (apologies, cant remember his name) - he also treated us to Falafel sandwiches. The Guide at Abu Simbel was not so good - real pity because he had been an archaeologist for the site but seemed to want to get through the whole experience at lightning speed. On our return to Cairo, we thought we would do a one night/half day in Alexandria - what a nightmare of a trip. The car did not have aircon and so we had to have the windows open most of the 4.5 hours - you have to drive on Cairo's 'Desert Road' and with the windows open, I got sunburnt/breathed in all the dust/pollution. At some points you come to a stand-still in the traffic, where there are Beggars banging on the windows, we had to wind up the windows and lock the doors - I did feel quite unsafe at that point. Also the drivers navigation was taking him down back-streets, where once again, we did feel unsafe. As the driver had limited English, we were unable to tell him not to go down the back streets. We did have a few things booked in the afternoon ie. tickets for Catacombs but gave it a miss, as we were so tired. If you are planning on doing an overnight in Alexandria, build in the time for traffic. Unfortunately in todays political times, we are more alert/aware of our surroundings and would hope that the tour company takes necessary precautions aswell ie. maybe tinting on the windows, so that people (when the car is at a stand still), can't see who is in the back ie. tourists. We communicated to Emo that we wanted a car with fully functioning air con for the drive back (3.5 hours) - the car arrived and once again, air con not working. When I was requesting air-con, it was not for the heat/humidity but more for ventilation. Both Cairo/Alexandria have smog ie. fog and pollution (which was classified as 'hazardous' on all days) - if we had windows closed, we needed air con for ventilation. I had messaged numerous times in relation to having working aircon and on the third message/towards the end of our trip, we got a car for the trip to Memphis/Saqqara, where aircon worked that worked. We had Samira (Guide) for our half day trip in Alexandria. Based on our experiences with the Guides in Luxor and Aswan, we expected the same level of English comprehension and knowledge - this was not the case. All I remember is Samira trying to sell us a seafood lunch (no doubt where there was a referral paid to her). Really was expecting alot more background/history on places we visited, especially the Citadel. Also found English comprehension was not very good - especially when we were explaining our concern over safety/security. We had Salwa (Guide) for our two days in Cairo. Very knowledgeable young lady but did keep on repeating (about 5 times we heard about the statue of Ramesses II unearthed) herself on points. Also a continuous improvement comment - she needs to work out the balance of providing information and then giving guests their own free time. Within both of the museums ie. GEM and Cairo museum we had to tell her we needed our own time. Also tried to explain to her that a car with aircon was important due to the high pollution/smog that we were breathing in - she kept on saying it was just fog??? Overall, we were happy with what was provided and what we saw but that would come down to your own research and being very specific with the details on what your requirements are and articulating it to the tour company. I would also recommend regular contact through WhatsApp with the tour company (every day of your trip) to check who you are getting ie. driver/guide - what their level of knowledge/English skills, times and any issues that could come up ie. traffic jams, itinerary not feasible etc. Also, as mentioned pre-purchase your tickets.
