About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Family_Travel520 contributionsGreat transfer serviceWe had a transfer through Egypt Excursions Online to the airport. Very organised, trustworthy, confirmed the day before and communicated on arrival and got us to the airport in a timely manner.Written February 16, 2024
- c0r0zal0 contributionsRelaxing timeRide a Felouka was one’s of my favorite things to do in Egypt. The wind and calm of the Nile river give you a pleasant journey. The only thing That worried me was two kids on a surf table got near our boat to sing to get money. I got so frightened about them to get drowned. They were very cute singing so many songs in different languages.Written April 16, 2019
- Kathryn A0 contributionsSailing the Nile on a FeloukaI was collected promptly from my hotel by Mahmood Anwar and his driver Samir. We drove to where the Felouka's set sail trough the busy streets of Cairo. In contrast the Felouka sunset trip was very peaceful and calming as the water lapped up against the side of the boat as we watched the sunset. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The next day I had booked a lunch cruise down the Nile. Mahmood warned me that the boat cruise didn't entail leaving the dock! and he told me I would be disappointed, which I was, so he went the extra mile for me and took me on another Felouka ride for free. Thank you Mahmood for making my stay in Cairo so special and taking me for two unforgettable trips on the Nile River.Written December 15, 2017
- Jan D0 contributionsSailing on the Nile with a FeloukaThoroughly recommended to go for a trip in a Felouka on the Nile. We took the boat from Maadi, next to the TGI Friday there. No need to book, just turn up and go. Sunset is the usual time. Take a picnic, i.e. Snacks and drinks to enjoy while you are being sailed.Written September 6, 2017
- Desertfox970 contributionsPeaceful settingThoroughly enjoyed my Fellouca ride on the Nile. Spent about an hour on the boat after visiting the Egyptian Museum. We boarded the boat in front of the Four Seasons on the Nile. The weather and wind was perfect and it was was so peacefulWritten April 29, 2017
- Kirsy10 contributionsSunset + Dinner + Felucca = PerfectI thought we'd just go to a dock and pay. But we really did need our hotel's help. We took some food and spent one hour on our boat. Bring a jacket because it is nice and cool. And quiet after hearing Cairo car horns :)Written March 28, 2016
- Tamer A0 contributionsA beautiful experience in the Nile RiverA beautiful experience in the Nile River, this river is exceptional if u compare it to most (actually to every) river that I've been to, in Europe and North America..... It is wide (very), with a beautiful color, and a lot of history..... Felouka experience is very special, with local simple people running it, giving u a different experience than what u get in the big 4 and 5 stars river cruise ships.... You feel very close to the river and people..... I loved the experience!Written December 15, 2015

- SHA123110 contributionsA must doSun set and evening are the best times to enjoy a nice ride. A good two to three hours would be highly recommended. You could even organize snacks and a Coleman with drinks of your choice to enjoy the ride. What is great about felouka rides is that you do not feel the headache most boat rides cause from the engine noise and vibration. The felouka ride is noise free, you are led by the forces of nature and a cool breeze the Nile usually offers even during the summer (if in the evening, of course). It is highly recommended, we have done it, over and over again. Be it just my wife and I or with friends. Highly recommended.Written August 24, 2015
- Steph P0 contributionsRelaxing And EnjoyableWe enjoyed our ride down the Nile, it was private for us so just my partner and I, our guide and the driver. I cant remember our drivers name but he was pleasant and polite and didn't hesitate to help us on and off the boat. Even when he put some music on, he played what we wanted to hear. It was nice to relax for a while and a break from the Cairo traffic. Although it was only a short ride, it was very enjoyable.Written May 5, 2015
- Citysun0 contributionsFantasic experienceIf you ever visit Cairo, you must take a falluca ride on the Nile, it is fantastic value for money. You can take one as couple or part of a large party, they are incredibly cheap. I would rocommend taking it at sunset, the setting sun make the trip even more romantic. You can also vary the length of your ride but I would recommend at least 1hr.Written April 3, 2015

- Heike N0 contributionsFelucca rides in CairoWherever the feluccas go it's worth spending a few hours on them. So relaxing! Don't know about Abo el Feda exactly. There are two places: in front of Four Seasons hotel if you fancy a boat trip in the centre of Cairo and in Maadi if you prefer a more tranquil place. Both excellent to escape the hustle and bustle of this megacity!Written September 24, 2014

The driver was waiting for me in the designated area with my name on a card held up. Helped me with my heavy lugages. The journey was untroubled and smooth. I was picked up from the hotel on time, and again, it was a smooth journey to the airport.

Had a lovely experience. They picked us up from our hotel and took us directly to the dock. If you have any questions or hesitation, simply whatsapp the number provided on the experience description— the folks on the team are extremely kind and responsive. We interacted with Kareem (answered on whatsapp) and Mostafa (driver), both great. Mostafa was our driver and he accompanied us on the felucca and took our photos. I would recommend this experience as a must-do if you’re in Cairo!

Collected us perfectly on time with 6 people from sharm el sheikh airport. Going back from hotel to sharm el sheikh airport they refused to collect us because they said they had a smaller vehicle. I had to get a bigger taxi from hotel and paid extra. Pls don’t book them u might be dissatisfied and you might be left alone at hotel and probably missing your flight. When I arrived back to UK I lodged a complaint and requested a full refund of them.

Hi TripAdvisor team,
I’m Luca and I booked a morning cruise Nile tour of 2 hours on a Farucca for the 29/05/2022, for me and 3 other friends. All Italians.
We are very sad to say that but the experience was really awful, terrible and embarrassing. I have never felt in this way in all my life. And I can tell you, if I’m writing this review this really means I was angry all the way and still I am.
First of all, we booked a morning (4 am sunrise cruise) and we were informed just the afternoon before that due to a political visit (the prime minister, by the way, was it true???? I don’t think so) the morning cruise was not possible, but only at sunset (we couldn’t due to the fact that we have the return plane to Italy at 5pm) or at 7am.
We decided to go for the second option, the 7am cruise, what a disaster it was! Let’s say just some points:
1. The driver that should have brought us to the Farucca arrived late at the pick up place (our hotel) hence we began the tour 30 minutes late.
2. At the site, we had to choose the motor boat and not the Farucca because there was no wind. The motor of the motorboat.. really safe, what a smell, we are in 2022 not in 1922 how old was it? I couldn’t breathe for most of the “tour”.
3. The driver of the car and the driver of the boat could NOT speak English, we had to “speak” through Google translate. Can you imagine it? Just to ask the simplest question.
4. The boat was the dirtiest place on earth (no exaggeration) probably the last time it was cleaned was when it was made. What to add? There was a person sleeping on it, pillows and sheets should have been white… were grey, REALLY! Some trash/ garbage was even on the boat.
5. No guide or at least someone speaking by telling us what we were seeing around the Nile. He was just putting on Arab music randomly at high volume. Embarrassing. Don’t know probably he was training for a dj course. When booking on TripAdvisor it said the guide ITALIAN language as your language, where was the tour????
6. But let’s keep on talking of the driver of the boat! Why not! He was smoking and smoking and smoking, probably sponsoring some cigarettes company? Don’t know, but what about security while riding?
7. In the end the 2 hours tour was 25% less, just 1 hour and half (I have to tell, lucky us for that, another 30 Minutes, better to die).
Please keep In mind that due also to the change of plans of the Farucca ride (ah no motorboat) at sunset 4 am (ah no 7am, ah no 07:30) we had to completely change our plans. For our last day here in Egypt. We were informed too late of this change of plans… By the way where was the prime
Minister??? Mhmm yes for sure at 4am the prime minister is riding in the Nile..
For all the above stuff, we are very very disappointed for all the hours spent on this cruise. For the reasons just mentioned, we ask kindly to receive a Full/ Partial REFUND of what was spent 135 EUR, can you believe it, 135 euro?.
In general, I do not think that the cruise on the Nile is worth it. Do not do it, the water is dirty and polluted, air too polluted, too much smog all around… and the smell, this I cannot describe enough, I’m not a writer like Tolkien. Nothing worth seeing except for old buildings and old cars (when you were lucky enough to recognise them through the smog). Consider that we were the only boat in the Nile at El Cairo in all this time.
Please let me know so that we can decide how to move on with this reclaim. Really sad to write this review but we are really too much disappointed & angry.
& PLEASE do not sponsor this kind of cruise on trip advisor with beautiful pictures of the Nile in El Cairo, it’s a false narrative.
NO WORDS,
Luca

Ahmed was our tour guide for the felouka ride, we choose a sunset ride. Ahmed met us on time at the hotel and he was an excellent guide for the evening - I really appreciate the ease where the private tours will pick you up at your hotel (although the boats were so close to where we were staying, the Intercontinental).
Our felouka captain was also named Ahmed and he was experienced in navigating the boat for a peaceful, serene sunset ride. The tour guide Ahmed kept us entertained with interesting personal and historical stories about Egypt.
What I liked: the peaceful nature, getting away from the hustle and bustle of Cairo, nice views of the city on the river.
What was so/so: our hotel actually had the same view of the Nile river where the boat went, and on the 2 hour ride you don't really go outside of a 1/2 mile radius on the water (trapped in by bridges that the sail obviously couldn't go under), so it's not really about seeing Cairo's buildings or historical monuments - just for relaxation and being on the river. Since we literally had the same view from our hotel, it wasn't that amazing, but if you don't have a Nile view it is awesome to soak up the sights.
Overall I would highly recommend this company and if you're looking for a relaxing way to spend 2 hours, take the sunset cruise! Oh, you might want to bring your own snacks (they provide drinks). I would recommend this over the dinner cruise, the dinner cruise seems really cheesy.
