      Absolutely perfect Korean hospitality!
This tour was an absolutely incredible experience. Veronica was the most perfect guide who taught us so much about Seoul's history and Korean culture. My partner and I are both Koreaboos and having such a personalised, casual but respectful experience was truly a joy. The traditional alcohols and the stories that accompanied the tastings was just so special and the dinner afterwards was sumptuous and such a wonderful time. Veronica was extremely respectful of my accessibility needs and checked in with me in such an empathetic, caring way. It was GREATLY appreciated and I am so sorry this review has taken so long to post! Will definitely be booking with Veronica the next time we are in Seoul!

Fantastic way to learn about Korean brewing culture
What a cool way to learn about magkeolli. Veronica and Ms. Kwan were both extremely knowledgable and willing to share. The tasting was a very nice experience and the food afterwards was excellent. Thank you!

Excellent food tour - food, history and culture across the spectrum of Seoul
We did the Namdaemun Market and Myeondong Tasting Tour. It was an excellent tour - probably in our top 3 food tours of any country - and Veronica was an excellent guide. Knowledgeable about food, culture and history. The great thing about the tour was that it included varied experiences so you got to eat at the busy local market, at local restaurants, tourist areas, food halls and at modern Korean places. It was wonderful to see and taste the different foods of Seoul and was a definite highlight of our time in Seoul.

Tour was ok - unfortunately too much main stream
We booked a Namdaemun Market & Myeongdong Food Tour with Veronika. She is easy going and she knows her town very well. A large part of the Food Tour was a walk through a night food market street. For a walk through this "official tourist" market, we would have not needed a "guide" We hoped to be brought more into "back alley markets" where an "local guide" is needed. Veronica is a very lovely lady with good English. However, her personality is not so "outgoing", "exciting"... maybe more suitable for cultural guiding than a tour in a vibrating market setting.

      Amazing tour!
My husband and I had an amazing time on the tour!! I love doing food tours in new places and this exceeded expectations. Veronica was a fantastic tour guide, she’s super knowledgeable, and great to be around. For lunch we got to try lots of different Korean dishes, and learn about them as well. As a vegetarian I was worried about how many options there would be for me, but a lot of the dishes are vegetarian friendly! We then walked around bukchon hanok village and learned some history. We finished with a tea house which had great traditional Korean teas. We loved spending the day with Veronica and highly recommend!

An enjoyable food tour with some cultural insights
Veronica took my wife and I on a tour of the Seoul food scene starting at Seoullo 7017 and we really enjoyed our time with her, learning about South Korean foods and trying places that we certainly would not have felt comfortable exploring on our own. The very first place we ate was down an alley barely wide enough to walk down that was absolutely filled with people. After a short wait, we sat down and enjoyed a multi-course meal - that was just the beginning. We explored the "black market" before eating one each of a savory and sweet doughnut before continuing on and having Korean fried chicken, fish cake and broth, black bean noodles, and the sugar snack from Squid Game before finishing with some unique gelato underneath Myeongdong Cathedral. We really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique food experience with some cultural touchstones mixed in.

Great tour to learn about rice wine and authentic food culture
We thoroughly enjoyed the discussion with the Brew Master at Bitdam and our dinner with Veronica. I am sure you will find a very different approach to Korean food compared to the usual spicy/in your face commercial food flavour profile. While I am a drinker, my friend is not but both of us had fun. Thank you for an informative night.

Market Tour with Veronica of Gastro Tour Seoul
We were anxious to learn about Korean food and ingredients during our trip to Seoul. Veronica delivered far more than our expectations on our market tour. At different stalls/restaurants, Veronica explained not only the ingredients and processes, but also Korean culture and history. Our tastings ran the gamut from Noodle Alley and street stalls to a restaurant specializing in Korean fried chicken and beer. If you are visiting Seoul, book a Market Tour with Gastro Tour and Veronica!

      A must do !
Each place we travel to we always do a food tour. This is without doubt the best we have done. Veronica was an amazing guide , very helpful and informative. We went first to a very traditional Michelin starred restaurant. There was a multitude of truly amazing dishes , many I had never heard of . We then explored a Hanoch village and despite truly torrential rain had an excellent time . We finished in a wonderful tea therapy house . Such a perfect way to see the area . A truly memorable tour . Thanks to Veronica!

      Gourmet Walking Tour Review
The guide was an excellent communicator and quite knowledgeable about the Fortress. She took time to explain the history at each walking point. Classic about Veronica guide was the food tasting at different points which delves into the history of the Korean way of doing things. veronica was well prepared and easy to communicate with.

      Excellent and Informative Tour
Tour experience guided by Veronica was most informative and an amazing part of our trip in South Korea. The tour started with lunch at a Michelin rated restaurant called Yongsusan, serving traditional Korean cuisine. The dishes were light and absolutely divine. After lunch we headed to Bukchon Hanok village. Veronica introduced us to a sweet Korean pancake with syrup embedded in the pancake. We walked around the village where she also explained to us important landmarks in the village. We then strolled over to a tea shop called Tea Therapy cafe. A menu was provide to us and recommended the type of tea suited for the individual. I ended purchasing three boxes of the Detox tea. Great purchase! The tour ended at a Buddhist eatery and museum like place. The site explained the type of meals consumed by the monks and the preparation of fermented food for a long winter and year ahead. I highly recommend this tour to solo travelers and families as well. Veronica exudes professionalism and extremely patient with me and my son. She is most informative about Korean history and culinary arts, past and modern day.

Excellent Evening of Soju and Food
Having heard good things about Veronica Kang who suns Gastro Seoul, we booked an evening of learning about Soju with dinner; and she certainly did not disappoint. Being in the hospitality industry prior to organising food tours, she was very knowledgeable and passionate about the culinary delights Korean food had to offer. We started with a visit to a local recognised Soju Master Brewer and had an informative briefing of the process of making it followed by tasting and sampling of the high quality Soju. Having 10 shots of Soju varying in strength and flavours was truly an enjoyable challenge. We then walked a short distance to a local restaurant where we had a most delicious dinner of streamed rice with several local side dishes (banchan), a generous serving of fresh oysters, broiled pork slices and spicy Korean noodles. The portions were most generous and served with a sweet rice wine (Makgeolli). We had a delightful evening with Veronica filled with not only good food but also an educational insight into the intricacies of Soju and Korean food.

Full disclosure, I was on the Seoullo 7017: Namdaemun & Myeongdong Tasting Tour but I feel confident that any of Veronica’s tours would be worth while. When traveling as a foreigner it’s easy to feel like a commodity and removed from the culture. Having Veronica as a guide makes you feel immersed. We walked through Namdaemun market and visited stalled and restaurants I never would have on my own. She even made the popular Myeongdong area feel special by sharing a intimate histories of the area. While I love food and I love the experience of different cultures I can honestly say that my favorite part of this tour was being lead by a guide who seriously loves her city. Highly recommend.

When I did this tour I already lived in Korea for a while, so I was quite accustomed with Korean food already. However the food I tasted here was something else! Something special! We started off with budaejjigae, and it was hands down the most delicious budaejjigae I ever tasted.

All the other visits were top notch as well. The jeon-restaurant, the raw fish-place. But what really stood out was that small restaurant hidden near the 'slums' which served amazing flavorful food. That was my favorite place and I will definitely visit that restaurant again.

Furthermore, the tour was very nice, Veronica is very knowledgeable, the food was amazing, and the fresh coffee was legit too. I highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful tour in a more hidden 'non-touristic' area of Seoul. During the tour we visited many restaurants which were each completely different. It's a great way to try different local dishes at local restaurant. Perfect way to explore true Korean food!
