Svaneti, one of the most ancient historical provinces of Georgia, is located on the southern slopes of the Caucasus. Surrounded by white-capped peaks, Svaneti is one of the most remarkable regions of Georgia, a hotpot of history steeped amidst timeless unwavering mountains. In winter the passes were overwhelmed with snow, and Svaneti was completely isolated from the outside world. The result of this isolation was the preservation of a unique culture and architecture in Svaneti. Here you will see 1000 year old tower houses Svaneti is included in the World Heritage List and protected by UNESCO.
