There are lots of Soviet themed tours offered around Tbilisi but this is the only one I could find specifically on Soviet Mosaics, and I'm glad I did. Our guide David was really decent, he was insightful, had a great sense of humour, spoke perfect English, and best of all had a never ending collection of interesting and funny anecdotes from Soviet times past. I'm fairly certain we wouldn't have been able to find many of the mosaics David showed us on our own, even with a hire car some of the locations were just too obscure, so all in all, a really worthwhile trip. If you're reading this I'd encourage you to give it a go.

I did both the mosaic and architecture tours as well as the day in Tskltubo and Chiatura. David was thoughtful, kind, knowledgeable and just a really nice person to spend time with. His stories about the past and his genuine interest in Soviet architecture/mosaics are invaluable. He has good local contacts and so we were able to go inside some buildings which are otherwise closed to visitors. I would highly recommend these trips if you are at all interested in the Soviet period.

AMAZING tour. David was an excellent guide. Definitely worth it for someone looking for that next level off the main tourism route. They know of and have access to some pretty incredible locations. Very highly and enthusiastically recommended!

For anyone interested in the social, political and cultural history of Tbilisi then this is an essential tour. It is a great opportunity to depart from the well-worn typical tourist trail and learn about the rich and fascinating history of Georgia through visiting several buildings and sculptures throughout the city. Thank you to David for arranging a tailored tour that accommodated my wife and young children (7 and 4) and for engaging us all with your personable manner and expert knowledge. This is a tour that will live long in our collective memories. We will certainly be back to Georgia!

We had a lovely day with David, who shared his love of modern Georgian history, architecture, and culture. He drove us around in his bright orange Soviet-era Lada and took us well off the beaten path to explore Soviet architecture and how buildings are used today. David was engaging, informative, and creative while showing us his city. Highly recommended!

I agree with all of the other positive reviews. This is more than an architectural tour. It's a cultural experience weaving in David's family history during Soviet times. David is an engaging guide ... one of the highlights of my trip to Georgia.

I don’t go on tours. But I was lured into it at first reading of what it is and where it goes. You have 2 options to choose. We went with the brutalist architecture and it was without regrets! David’s enthusiasm and knowledge zeroed me in right away and I was blown away.
