About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- PeanutPounder0 contributionsGreat Day to Uplistsikhe with a DetourThe guide was on time and friendly. He gave us plenty of time at all sites including Uplistsikhe and at the Museum (Stalin) in Gori. The restaurant that we were taken to for lunch was good. We had the option to substitute a stop, so we visited a friend as guests instead of going to Mtskheta. That "detour" turned into a few visits with lots of wine and Georgian hospitality. The guide was professional and flexible with us. We had a great day!Written March 4, 2020
- Ирина Л0 contributionsLili and Nino, guide toursWe have been on 2 lines(red and blue) hop on/hop off tours, the day was very windy, however in the bus it was warm and cosy. Both guides were polite and hostile, thank you for that, they happily recommend us more places to visit with more tips about the country. Thank you, we will definitely come back.Written January 15, 2020
- xClark-Griswoldx0 contributionsAs rugged and adventurous as you wantI’ve just come back from a week in Georgia with Explorer Tours, traveling from Tbilisi to Mestia to Ushguli. There were 11 of us in our group and Explorer president Irakli traveled with us. Irakli has extensive knowledge of Georgian history. His knowledge is truly impressive. When any problem arose Irakli was there to fix it. He can make the trip as authentic to local travel as you like, traveling by Marsutka or staying in small guesthouses to more upscale accommodation per one’s budget. I had a great trip and plan to come back again. I will definitely call Irakli and Explorer Tours when I do.Written September 18, 2019
- Catherineylc0 contributionsUp to expectationThe guide is nice and polite, with good English. He drove safely and the car is comfortable. Though the car was broken down during the return way, we enjoyed the day.Written August 20, 2019
- bnevena0 contributionsAdvice about Chaukhi PassWhen searching for information about the route from Juta to Chaukhi pass, I noticed that when talking about the pass, only the highest elevation is mentioned - 3431m. I have agreed with my guide to bring me to the Chaukhi pass without explicitly stating the elevation. He brought me to about 2300m and said that this is the beginning of the pass and so he has fulfilled his duties. He said that he does not want to bring me to 3431m because we have not agreed this and that I should understand him as he would be very tired if he came that high and then he had to drive me back to Tbilisi. On the way to Chaukhi pass there is a sign near the 5 Seasons Hotel, saying "Chaukhi pass 7km". This implies that you need to walk 7km in order to reach it. My guide did not walk 7km to the place where he left me. When organizing the trip, I asked the guide what would be included and what excluded in the itinerary. He wrote that guiding to Chaukhi pass is included. In this section he could have mentioned the elevation he intended to reach, but he did not. At the place he left me, there is no sign stating that this is indeed Chaukhi pass. My lesson from this trip - always have written confirmation about the elevation till which the guide is obliged to accompany me. My advice to the travelers - see above lesson + choose your guide carefully. I was with Irakli Tchitanava, General ManagerWritten July 29, 2019
- Kieran B0 contributionsTblisi hop on hop off busNot enough buses on this on/off tour. Waited over 40 mins in one stop today (stop 5 Marjanishvili ?) between 5pm and 6pm. There are little or no signs to show where the stops are. Map provided is poor. Otherwise pretty standard service. Staff are friendly.Written July 25, 2019
- Dfitisova0 contributionsThese guys know how to make you love Georgia! We had two 2-days trips with Explorer Tours (ET): Gori-Uplisziche-Signaghi & Kazbegi-Chaukhi. They are totally different, but both were great! The trip starts with the discussion about the wishes & interests. ET team helped us to choose the right trip in accordance with our interests and cared that our wishes will be satisfied. Guys also helped us with hotels during the trips and explained all the organizational points. Big thanks to our guide, Irakli, who showed us wonderful Georgian nature (we visited some places which can be found probably only if you are accompanied with the local...and these were the best!). Moreover, guys have special hicking vans which are able to drive off-road (there are places and they are the most interesting, where it is just impossible to get with the normal car). During the trips our guide explained and told a lot. He was also able to answer the questions and to keep small talks - so it was not boring on the way. We also liked that Irakli was very flexible: once we had to change the route because of our failure, but still coped to be everywhere on time. It goes without saying, that nature (yes, architecture and culture as well...but nothing can be compared with the nature) took our hearts. It were absolutely breathtaking moments! It worths to see it at least once! Thank you guys, Irakli & Anna (Anna organized these trips for us) for this experience! We will definitely recommend our friends to visit Georgia and to choose ET as organizators. It was just cool!Written March 24, 2019
- Mrinalshobhit0 contributionsGeorgia Tour with Explorer ToursExplorer tours planned amazing trip of Georgia for us! Mr. Irakli, our trip planner spent a great time upfront trying to understand what we wanted out of our trip, how we like to travel, what’s places are important to visit, etc and that really paid off. All our accomodation were excellent. The cave city, signaghi tours were awesome..I’m really thankful to the team they have and I really appreciate their services.. I have already recommended them to some of my freinds. All the best!!!Written March 20, 2019
- Medha W0 contributionsVery disappointing !!!We booked this private tour through Temo - a representative of “ Holiday.me “ We were picked up at 10am and reached the Bodbe monastery after nearly 2 hours. The view from the monastery is nice but the monastery is under renovation. Later we drove to see the 18th century defence wall and tower. We then drove to Signagi the city of love having nice architecture and 18th century houses. Our driver and guide, Shoto did not provide us any information on the tour, Signagi city or the Museum. We drove to Kakheti to visi a wine storage and bottling plant. Temo had agreed to show the wine making process in this tour which we found later that it could be seen only in autumn. Therefore, we just had degustation which we could have experienced in Tbilisi instead of traveling so long!!! During this visit we were given no explanation on the history and Culture of Georgia relevant to these places.Written September 8, 2018
- michaelsZ9233FB0 contributionsPlace to visitI am very happy I visited this old place: history, history, history, and a nice view. Although there are too many people and visitors, this is place to stop by, learn and understand the link between past and present...Written July 9, 2018

I review this option and find it very good and up to what I am expecting, but we are 4 sisters and will be sharing room or book suite for the 4 of us to share, therefore, I am expecting to be giving a better deal compare with what is being advertise, they make it for one and add on. I did not travell yet, but planning to be on Jun 2018, i chose march, because I could not put my comment without choosing date.

What a way to see Georgia!! We had a wonderful guide, Kakha, who was very knowledgeable about Georgian history, culture, food and wine. In full transparency there is a lot of time spent in the car and we occasionally felt rushed. However, we got to see and do so much which made this worth it. Our favorite places were Becho staying in a small guesthouse very remote and Ushguli for it's unique landscape. We would strongly recommend this tour for people interested in seeing Georgia that enjoy road trips.

I'm planning to book this trip with my wife. Are we going alone or with another group?
