Street food tour
Dec 2019
This was a bit of both looking around the night markets and food stalls as well as a city tour. The guide (sorry I forgot your name) met us in Independence Square and explained to us the surrounding buildings and the history behind them before taking us through a food market, he pointed out the types of food here before taking us to a local restaurant to sample some local dishes, these were all very nice but the coconut curry was the best! After an hour or so we moved on to the night market and on the way we were informed by our guide of the history that was surrounding us. We walked through the night market, no food here, before moving on through the Indian and Chinese parts of the city. We then had a BBQ and a beer and a good talk about food and Yangon.

All in all it was a fantastic night and I highly recomend this trip.

Great intro
This was a really good way to start a trip here alone in Yangon. Got an overview of local food as well as how to walk the city using the grid system, the food was more than enough to eat and nice to have a beer at the end. Guide Myat was very nice and helpful. I tried some food I probably would not have given a go and walked through the food markets gave a new perspective.

Very informative tour
I decided to take this tour on my first day in Yangon (and Myanmar), as I thought it would be a good way to get a feel for the place and also get my bearings. The tour starts at the independence monument, which is very impressive. Myo, my guide, told me the history of the monument and surrounding buildings and he did a great job throughout the tour. The first food I tried was in the market right beside the monument, I had a sugarcane pancake and sugarcane juice, both were very enjoyable and I was surprised that the sugarcane juice wasn’t as sweet as I expected. We then continued down towards the river and Myo explained the different markets, buildings and the range of religions represented in the area. The last stop of the tour is in the Chinatown area where I got to try more of the street food and a local beer (and better still we got a free beer as there was a new beer been promoted that night). Overall a very enjoyable tour and a great way to get a feel for the city in a short space of time.

Myat was a great guide who was knowledgeable and accommodating while being mindful of our safety. The food that he selected for us was tasty and did not have any lasting effects. Enjoy!

Sights, sounds, smells and tastes (and another great guide) !
Oct 2018
A great way to experience colonial Yangon, as well as the full range of sights, smells, tastes and sounds while exercising your legs, the tour went from the main square near city hall to the 19th Street Chinatown restaurant Anthony Bourdain helped make famous ! Our young guide Win knows his business and how to take care of diverse customers, helping us navigate the streets, understand the markets, and learn (who knew there is a phrase in the local language akin to "like sardines in a can.") Fantastic from start to finish !

Fantastic Evening Tour with Myat & Urban Adventures
Our amazing guide Myat took my husband and me for a lovely stroll through dynamic streets of Yangon, while explaining the city's interesting history & present. We walked around colonial buildings downtown and along the river front among the many stands and stalls with literally everything from expensive iPhones and tablets to rubbish jewelry and all sorts of delicious food. We have stopped at different places to have little local snacks, until we finished in Chinatown (where Chinese New Year was being celebrated - lucky us, it was super cool!) and Myat took us to a cool local place for beer and Burmese barbecue.

We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and very pleasant conversation with Myat and our fellow travelers.

My advice: Do this tour upon your arrival to Yangon, it's perfect as an orientation tour into the city and its food.

Thank you, Myat, for a really great night and Phyoe, the UA manager, for being incredibly helpful with the booking and answering all my questions via email before our arrival.
