Let's visit the Sacred Lagoon and Salt Cathedral in 1 day!
In this shared tour we will visit the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá which is the second largest cathedral made of salt in the world. This is a salt complex located 180 meters below the ground, which represents one of the most distinguished achievements of Colombian architecture, as well as being a true faith for the miners.
In addition to this, we will visit the Laguna Sagrada de Guatavita, where the legend of "El Dorado" took place. This is a magical green area surrounded by an incredible landscape that you can see once at the top of the lagoon.

The Cathedral was really interesting and we enjoyed the audio guide, the historical centre is worth exploring, but is very small. The tour offered by Beyond Colombia was essentially a taxi to and from the cathedral. It was one of the more expensive tours we have done in Colombia for not much value add. The audio guide is included in the price of the cathedral entry ticket and there are guides one hand at the entrance should you want an in person guide.
That being said we cannot fault our driver, Jonatan he did not speak much English and our Spanish is still limited, but he was very attentive and friendly, he did his best to make conversation and used a translator app to make sure we had everything we needed, we’re comfortable and knew where and when to meet him. When we were in the historical centre he did his best to explain the sights we drove past.

It was such a long day but definitely worth it. From the pick up from the hotel with the amazing driver Alejandro and the sweet and brilliant guide Karen. They were so understanding and made our experience an unique and fun one.

Salt cathedral was a bit too religious for me but the guatavita lagoon was really great. The guide was knowledgeable and was helpful with explaining the legend of El Dorado

Excellent work from Alejandro and Camilo. We met the news of blockades in Bogotá and the two of them managed to take us to the Cathedral of Sal and spend an incredible day with the family.
The super complete tour, Camilo is a person who is passionate about what he does and it shows. I would totally recommend booking with Beyond Colombia and specifically Alejandro and Camilo.

Very reliable and always with a good attitude. I liked that the transportation was comfortable, the operator was very attentive and the guide was always friendly, both looking for us to have the best experience.
