About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Travel447573627190 contributionsPoor reputation for service quality!Paraiso Travels is a Colombia-based travel agency with a poor reputation for service quality. Customers often report issues like misleading package descriptions, unresponsive customer support, and hidden fees. Experiences shared online include overbooked accommodations, delayed transportation, and unorganized itineraries, leading to frustration and disappointment. Communication breakdowns and failure to address complaints or offer refunds have caused many travelers to lose trust in the agency. For those seeking a reliable and smooth travel experience, Paraiso Travels may fall short, as customer feedback suggests a lack of professionalism and attention to detail in planning and service.Written November 1, 2024

- 600marwinh0 contributionsPreserved and beautiful townI must say it is one of the most preserved and beautiful towns I've ever seen. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by its charm and authenticity. The cobbled streets of Villa de Leyva add to its old-world charm and give it a unique character. Walking through the town feels like stepping back in time, with its well-preserved colonial architecture and historic buildings. It's a photographer's dream, with picturesque scenes at every turn. What impressed me the most during my visit was the exceptional service I received, the level of hospitality of the staff was outstanding. The company takes pride in their country and goes above and beyond to ensure visitors have a memorable experience.Written February 8, 2024
- evyk980 contributionsUnique and memorable travel experienceThe highlight of the tour was definitely the adrenaline rush I got from the rappel experience. It was thrilling and gave me an incredible sense of self-accomplishment. Villa de Leyva itself is a beautiful town with a slow and relaxed pace of life. The two days I spent there were a delight, as I got to explore the charming streets, visit historical sites, and enjoy the local cuisine. Overall, the tour to Villa de Leyva was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable travel experience.Written December 26, 2023

- 205rolandv0 contributionsA Sublime Journey into the Depths of Zipaquirá Salt CathedralI recently had the opportunity to take a tour to the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, my second tour with this company, and it was nothing short of amazing. The tour was well-organized, starting from the pick-up at our hotel to the journey to Zipaquirá. The highlight of the tour was undoubtedly the Salt Cathedral itself. The atmosphere inside the cathedral was surreal and awe-inspiring. The intricate carvings, the play of light and shadow, and the sheer grandeur of the cathedral carved out of salt left us speechless. It's a testament to human ingenuity and a sight that I believe everyone should experience at least once. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area. It's not just about visiting a place; it's about immersing yourself in a unique cultural experience. The Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral tour is a journey that will stay with you long after you've left the cathedral's cool, salt-laden air.Written October 13, 2023
- 384dominika_0 contributionsa smart use of timeVisiting the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá can be a smart use of time depending on your interests. If you enjoy history, architecture, or unique tourist destinations, then it could be a great experience for you. The cathedral is a remarkable architectural and artistic achievement, carved out of a salt mine deep inside a mountain. It's also a place of pilgrimage, attracting thousands of visitors each year.Written October 9, 2023

- Laura25P0 contributionsThe best day trip ever! This was an incredible day trip! Cesar and Rodrigo were fantastic. I highly recommend you request them for your tour. We asked for a 6am pick up and they were there on time. Our first stop was Villa de Leyva. We worked the itinerary backwards as there was a kite festival in Villa de Leyva so we wanted to get there early. It is such a beautiful town. We spent a total of an hour there, walking around the town. We stopped in el Museo del Chocolate for a yummy snack. We then headed over to Casa Terracota, a Gaudí inspired house made entirely out of clay. We then went to Pozos Azules which are 6 or 7 bluish green lakes. You walk the entire area at your pace. The great thing about being on a private tour is that you get to decide whether to stay or just head to the next attraction, which is what we did. We only saw 2 of the lakes before heading to our next stop. Note that you are not allowed to swim in the lakes. We then went to Monasterio Ecce Homo, a beautiful monastery in the countryside. By this point, we worked up an appetite. We headed over to another town, Sutamarchan, and had the most amazing lunch. Lastly, we ended up in Ráquira, famous for its colorful pottery. The entire trip was so much fun and we got to see so much of the countryside. Cesar and Rodrigo’s energy made the entire experience that much more enjoyable!Written August 29, 2023

- D3884JMmauriziop0 contributionsscenic train rideThis tour is a unique experience that combines the beauty of Bogota's landscape with the rich history of the region. The tour starts with a scenic train ride from Bogota, offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The highlight of the tour is a visit to the Zipaquira Salt Cathedral, a remarkable underground church built within the tunnels of a salt mine. This architectural marvel is a must-see. Please note that the train operates only on weekends and national holidays.Written August 20, 2023

It's clear that the team prioritizes the safety of their guests, which is always reassuring when embarking on an adventure trip. The service staff was thoughtful and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed for a great experience. Their professionalism and dedication added to the overall enjoyment of the trip. After a scheduling snafu on our part, Paraiso Travels accommodated us on our last minute schedule change and really made our trip.
Maria (bilingual) and Augusto arrived on time and shared their knowledge throughout the trip of their hometown, Bogota, as well as Fusa. We made a few sightseeing stops along the way and they were very attentive to our requests, even though it extended the trip a bit. They really made the to, from and lunch incredibly enjoyable.
At Coloma, our Bilingual guide, Jessica, talked about the town she was raised in, Fusagasuga, as well as walked us through every part of the coffee growing process. She was not only very well versed in the process but her knowledge and passion of different coffee cultures really made the tour.
She pivoted to the rum tasting quite flawlessly and both tours were some of the best highlights of our trip.
Big thank yous to the staff at Coloma (+Jessica) and Paraiso Travels (Maria) for giving us a top notch experience!

Ana was a fantastic guide who proudly shared much interesting information about her home country. Augusto the driver navigated the busy traffic expertly and safely.
The visit to the coffee plantation was worth the 2+ hour drive for sure and the rum tasting was a nice extra.
The lunch was very good as well with ample choices.
We really liked the private character of this tour where it was just me and my wife with the guide and driver.
Highly recommended !

I would not recommend this tour while the highways are under major construction. This half day tour took 7 1/2 hours. We were picked up at our hotel on time at 8:25 but did not arrive at the hacienda until 11:15. The tour was over by 13:15 but we did not get back to the hotel until 15:50 so 5 1/2 hours of driving for a 2 hour tour. The driver Carlos did his best but was following trucks and buses belching exhaust - he spoke only Spanish. The tour was interesting. Juan our guide was knowledgeable and spoke English well but this is not a coffee plantation - it is an event space with coffee plants and gardens - they even have a chapel and guest suites. Not what we expected.
