Jan 2022 • Friends
We met at the Hilton hotel at 10am, where two other people joined our tour. It was about a 2 hour drive out to the Coffee Farm, with a stop at a rest stop along the way where we got some delicious Bogota beef soup. Once in Silvania, we were guided by a member of a family that ran a coffee farm up to the trees on a short steep walk to the plantation area. We picked red coffee beans, and on returning to the restaurant went through every stage in making a cup of coffee (separating the coffee beans from the fruit, grinding, roasting, etc.) It was a lovely Sunday at the restaurant, with many locals coming by to hang out, order food, and drink some of the locally produced liqueur. We drove back and stopped at a rest stop famous for desserts, and were back at the hotel by about 5:15PM. Our guide spoke English and was knowledgeable about the process (if you need an English speaking guide you must book a. "bilingual" guide).
