As soon as I booked the tour, I received a Whatsapp Message from our tour guide Fredy. He provided useful info about what to bring - face mask (for biosecurity measures required by law), raincoat, umbrella, and comfy shoes. And checked for any food allergies. I appreciated him reaching out via Whatsapp because we were running late (traffic in Bogota is unpredictable so plan ahead) and I was able to message him directly to let him know our status.
Fredy clearly has a passion for what he does. His tour is a story-telling of Colombia's history, climate, and biodiversity through food found in Bogota. We started with empanadas from the coastal region, then tamal from the Tolima region, coffee from Bogota, chicha and tea, (surprisingly good) mystery meat, and ended with arguably Colombia's national dish, Ajiaco Santafereno. In between stops we walked through the historic La Calendaria and learned about the history of the city and its people. Fredy would recommend other restaurants to check out on future visits and would answer any questions we had, not even related to the tour.
I felt very safe covid and security-wise and wouldn't hesitate to book another tour with Fredy / The True Colombian Experience.

Highly recommend this tour especially good to do on your first day as it gives you a real feel for the city & its different districts. Value for money is exceptional so many types of food to try we were stuffed by the end of the tour. Andreas was an excellent guide giving us so much interesting information on the history of the city, its local artists & local businesses. Making Empanadas was a treat & a great memory. 👌

The whole trip was fantastic from start to finish, we tried so much food, fruit, meat, drinks, all local and based in various regions of Colombia, we had Christian as our guide and he made it super fun and was very informative. We had a great group of mixed language and it was no problem to our guide. The food was amazing, absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this tour to everyone, it’s super cheap, you get more value for your money, the places we are and drank were fabulous, you get to see parts of La Candalaria you probably won’t if you don’t get involved. And if you do go just be aware there is lots and lots of food and drinks along the way. I love to eat and even I was full after it. Highly highly recommended

Certainly a must to learn more about the local cuisine and its varieties. We were a group of five and our tour guide, Milena, gave us a deep dive into the city’s cuisine. She was excellent in explaining, very knowledgeable and always made us feel very comfortable. We had about 7 different dishes throughout an afternoon in the area La Candellaria. A great experience. I truly recommend this tour! Thank you, Milena.

Milena guided us to 8(!) hidden gems, gave us a Colombian perspective on live and seamlessly dropped so much knowledge along the way. The food was delicious, the tour really well planned and Milena was a fabulous host. Highly highly recommend!

I've been on many food tours, and this one was by far the best. It's not only an extremely great value (just $22 USD), but Gina (tour guide) makes this trip special. You truly feel like a local on this tour. From the different types of fruits and traditional columbian dishes to the history and cultural tidbits you pick up on, this tour blew me away. It's long but in a good way. You actually feel full. And this coming from someone who eats a lot. There are other food tours (I haven't tried yet), but most are pretty expensive ($50-66 USD). This food tour gives you a ton of quality food and at a great value. The fact that they're charging only $22 USD is astounding. Book this and hope you get Gina. She's amazing and super personable. She remembers everyone's name on the tour. She's also curious about open to different types of culture. Her tour assistant Phillipa is also an amazing kid. Very knowledgable and super bright. It was amazing talking to both while eating and learning about a great country like Columbia.

Where to start. I was greeted by Mister Fredy at the starting point and he was very heartwarming to begin with.
I was then greeted by Gabriella who took over the tour experience. She was very energetic and knowledgeable about the culture as she took me to different areas which I found extremely fascinating.
I was mesmerized by the local surroundings that I came across a beautiful painting of Jesus Christ which was amazing to say the least.
We even took time to go souvenir shopping for my family and a few goodies that filled my appetite even further.
All in all I had a great time, great food and highly recommend this tour for future visitors outside of Bogotá.

Mili was a great host. She's very enthusiastic, outgoing and friendly, makes sure everyone on the tour is having a good time. We tried a lot of stuff, when they say come with an empty stomach, they mean it. Outside the food, you'll also learn a lot about local culture, music, if you're (un)lucky like me, she'll also pick you for a dance in front of the group haha. Definitely recommend the experience.

It was a great experience visiting local restaurants and tasting authentic Colombian dishes. I wouldn't have found those places without this tour. The entire tour took more than five hours. There were lots of walking and waiting, but that all gave me some time to digest what I ate and connect with other people in the group. Wish the group was smaller - at least less than 10.
Nick, our guide was knowledgeable and great facilitating the big group (16 people) - very patient and accommodating with a good sense of humor.

We tried lots of fruits, vegetables, juices,. However we tried a unique, local traditional meat, capybara, but there may have been an option . I suggest you contact the tour company if you need more specifics.
