- S242IHkarinas0 contributionsFantastic in depth Coffee educationFantastic experience! Fun way to get lost in the world of specialty coffee - and Cartagena is the best place to do it. Great workshop learning how to distinguish the different flavor profiles, processes, and growing areas of Columbia. Sofi was a sweetheart and a great teacher. Just as complex as wine tasting, it's a great way to understand, appreciate, and enjoy a great cup of coffee! Highly recommendWritten December 28, 2024
- YvetteS1930 contributionsGreat coffee learning experienceWe had a most wonderful experience with our guide Daniel. He taught us so much! From the flavor wheel of coffee to the different coffee regions of Colombia. The two artisanal coffee shops chosen were perfect in illustrating how terroir can affect the flavor, aroma, body, and tone of the coffee. He was an excellent city guide too. We saw a load of nature on our walk to the second shop. Monkeys, a sloth as well as a bearded dragon lizard all in plain sight! Take this tour you will not be disappointed!Written December 15, 2024
- alaamZ3785HL0 contributionsAn amazing experience!I found the workshop really interesting, and the discussion was very informative. Karen and the other instructors elaborated in an excellent way and expanded my knowledge about the coffee in general, the interaction was amazing, I would like to thank Karen for this successful event.Written December 5, 2024
- cedi_p0 contributionsWorst eggs Benedict of my lifeI just received the worst eggs Benedict in my life. Cheap ham, worse cheese, like in an American hamburger. the English muffin under baked and to top it all of a sauce hollandaise that so way off a normal sauce hollandaise that really this shouldn't be even called eggs Benedict. The only good thing was the cafe Latte.Written August 23, 2024
- LauraR91940 contributionsSuper enjoyable with a fun & knowledgeable hostLoved our tour with Daniella. Enjoyed a new experience in coffee tasting. I have only enjoyed dark coffee with some cream & sugar. This tour taught me that there is more to coffee than the sweet & creamy.Written March 9, 2023
- vanessasB9936NU0 contributionsSpecialty coffee tourThis tour is so informative, it was such a fun way to spend my last morning in Santa Marta. I love coffee! My friends that did the tour with me aren’t such coffee enthusiasts but also enjoyed the tour. Melissa is very knowledgeable and passionate about coffee culture in Colombia. I look forward to trying her recommendations when I visit Bogotá. Our favorite coffee spot on the tour was Ikaro. There we tried the same type of coffee from the Sierra Nevada, but prepared a different way in a Chemex. Melissa did a great job explaining about the different preparation methods and also about the different coffee regions in the country. Go ahead and slurp, you’ll be glad you did!Written March 6, 2020

I would highly recommend this workshop which takes you to three different specialty coffee shops to taste three different coffees and pouring methods. I happened to be the only person on my tour, and Daniela walked me through the entire coffee making process and answered all the questions I asked. You could tell she has been doing this awhile because her knowledge and ability to convey the information is fantastic. If you are staying in the Chapinero / Zona G neighborhood there is no reason not to experience this tour since it's just a few steps away. Even if you are farther away, a quick bus or Uber ride gets you to the area to enjoy a wonderful educational and fun coffee experience.

Our Specialty Coffee Workshop experience was outstanding. Booking was easy and perfectly accomadated our needs. Our group ranged from serious coffee enthusiast to " I don't really like coffee, but I will come along". Everyone sincerely enjoyed the experience. We all learned alot about coffee. We enjoyed visiting the different locations, checking out the roaster, learning about proper preparation, trying our tasting skills and meandering about one of Bogota's coolest neighborhoods. Karen was a terrific teacher and guide, who kept everyone engaged to the point that we kept her about an hour longer than scheduled. She was patient and gracious, answering all of our questions. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone at any level of coffee interest; just a great, enjoyable experience from start to finish.

A walking tour of three Chaperino neighborhood cafés -- tasting three regional coffees. We met our Flavors of Bogota guide, Ale, at the Libertario café where we tasted coffee from the Tolima region (Castillo/Coturra). Ale provided us with flavor charts and our own Tasting Sheet to help us decide and record the fragrance, aroma, body, brightness, sweetness, flavor, balance, and finish. We learned to smell then “slurp” the coffee to sense all the flavors. Our second stop was Café Cultor where we tasted coffee from the Ceasar region, and the third and final stop was the Colo café where we tasted coffee from the Cundinamarca region and watched a Barista demonstration using a Chemex. All three coffees were distinct and we learned how to judge each using our Tasting Sheets and studying the flavor charts. Ale, in excellent English, walked us through the process and helped us discover the flavors. Truly a fine flavor-awakening experience.

Laura was very kind and informative! She gave us a brief tour of the neighborhood while en route to our various destinations. I came away feeling I learned a lot about Colombian culture, the coffee scene included of course.
I also loved that the tour company made an effort to support cafes that supported pickers, indigenous peoples, and other social causes.
This tour was very well done and the perfect kick-off to our Colombian adventure.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our tour of a three coffee shops with Daniella and Alejandra on a perfect Saturday morning in Bogotá. The coffee shops that were chosen had knowledgeable staff who walked us through the brewing methods. Daniella and Ale helped us understand the nuances of coffee tasting, but more importantly gave us a glimpse into the culture of Bogotá in our conversations about coffee, coffee industry, and the city itself as we walked between cafes and enjoyed our beverages.

This is the best thing I did in Bogotá! I was lucky to be the only person on the tour that day so I got a private tour with Alejandra. She is so knowledgable about Colombian coffee and I learned so much from her, from the farming of coffee in Colombia, its history and culture to the making and processing of coffee to the tasting of the actual coffee we got. we went to three coffee shops and each of them not only had their own roasts but also were aesthetically interesting to check out. at no point was I being pushed to buy anything. the walks were short and scenic. Alejandra is so open about any questions you might have, about coffee or else. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her and would highly recommend this tour!

Daniela was a fantastic and knowledgeable guide. She asked all of the right questions to gauge our knowledge and shared interesting information about coffee.
The coffee shops were stunning, I would not have discovered them on my own. Loved all the coffee and finally learned how to drink a ‘real’ cup of coffee!
Highly recommend this tour to anyone in Bogotá.

We had heard about Flavors of Bogota Coffee Tour through word of mouth, and with our very first visitors coming to Bogota, we thought we’d give it a try. Karen, and her assistant/husband, Peter, did not disappoint.
We visited several local specialty coffee shops (which we would have never even noticed before), all of which were complete with outdoor seating to provide excellent bio-security measure in this post pandemic world. Our small group was comfortable the entire time as we learned about what makes coffee such a interesting and tasty experience.
I didn’t know a lot about the different factors that make up a specially cup of coffee, so this tour was eye opening. We had coffee prepared by some of the best baristas in Bogotá and we were able to watch coffee being roasted by an award winning coffee roaster.
A great experience for anyone looking to learn more about what makes the coffee world go round with great coffee shop locations in Bogota’s Chapinero district. Karen is clearly very knowledgeable and an expert in this field.
Great time and highly recommend

This was an excellent tour of local coffee roasters and delicious specialty coffees. Daniela was a wonderful tour guide and coffee educator. I drink coffee often, but with her guidance I was able to explore the flavors in multiple ways I haven’t considered before now. She also gave great local restaurant recommendations and pointed me in the direction of some incredible chocolate.

We had a wonderful experience and learned so much on our Flavors of Bogota tour! I was blown away with the huge amount of information that was shared in a short amount of time. Karen's coffee knowledge could fill a library! We enjoyed the coffees that we tasted and watching the processes that we saw for both roasting the coffee beans and making a cup of coffee in different ways. We definitely recommend that anyone who likes coffee takes this tour! The cafe scene in Bogota is so great. The Chapinero neighborhood is a great place to explore and this tour is a good introduction to the area as well.
