- 957xaviern0 contributionsSurreal landscape with a passionate guideAmazing time in some pretty surreal landscape. The guide (english speaking) was super knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the area, and had a authentic passion for birds. So if you area a birdwatcher, that could be a bonus reason to book this tour. Pretty cool out there. Do not forget water proof shoes, you will be upset! It's very muddy in places, I would even recommend higher ankle boots as I sunk a few inches in the mud at one point.Written December 16, 2024
- tinyplanettravel0 contributionsBook this hike in the Choachí MountainsThe tour led by Camilo was so fun and informative – possibly one of the most rewarding experiences I had while visiting Bogotá. The landscape is stunning (waterfalls, farmland, and the centuries-old Camino Real), and we got to eat native fruits and leaves, taste some farm-fresh cheese, and dig into the history of the region. Booking the tour was a breeze: Andes Eco Tours is friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.Written November 15, 2024

- Sherry52_100 contributionsLearn and experience from the small coffee farmersThe tour was a long day mostly due to the notorious Bogota traffic. Despite the travel we had a wonderful day and the views were amazing. The guide Diego was great in explaining all aspects of coffee. The farmers Elena and Carlos were so sweet and warm, they shared their knowledge and experiences about making coffee so passionately. It was just a delight! The lunch and coffee tasting was delicious. There were so many varieties of birds and flowers it was amazing. Would highly recommend this trip!!Written October 9, 2024
- JessicaG61930 contributionsIncredible Location & Deeply Knowledgeable GuidesWe had the gorgeous cloud forest almost entirely to ourselves, it is a beautiful park (a private park accessible to the public) with lots of birds. My guide was Camilo and Héctor was my driver. My travel partner has twisted his ankle so I went on this trip by myself (solo female) and I felt completely safe. I speak Spanish but I did choose the English guide option and Camilo and I conversed in both languages. Camilo and Hector were both incredibly knowledgeable about the animals, landscape, and local communities in and around Bogota and the cloud forest - they answered all of my million questions. The hike itself was mostly difficult because of the elevation.Written September 22, 2024
- Purdz0 contributionsGreat tripMy sister and I took the coffee and chocolate experience as I like Colombian coffee and she likes chocolate so it seemed ideal. Really great tour and special mention to guide and driver (Camilo and Hector). Camilo's English was excellent and we discussed all sorts of topics which eased the drive to the first stop. Hector's driving was safe and no issues navigating the route. There were some previous reviews about road conditions and driving but although in some parts the road inland was bumpy it is what it is when you're going up a mountain. The roads in the UK aren't all perfect either! Communication and booking was easy. Advised to do a specific day due to Colombian holiday weekend. Yes, there was traffic but we knew this and the tour would be a full day so this was no surprise. Vehicle and pick up was on time and no issues. Interesting experience where we helped create the coffee we drank followed by a really nice lunch then on to chocolate with very pretty colours for cacao and numerous tastings along the process. We took water with us so others might want to do the same and to bring any snacks etc you may need for a full day out. There are stops that could be made along the way but ensure you bring what you think you need for yourselves to make your trip easy.Written August 18, 2024
- 391joleenb0 contributionsFamily coffee tourWe did this tour with three kids ages 6, 8 and 17 and it was loved by all. The coffee farm owner and his family were so welcoming to our kids and invited us into their home for a true and unique coffee experience. Even if you think you don’t like coffee you will after this tour. Our guide was so patient with our kids and all of our questions and did a great job explaining everything to us. It was one of the highlights of our trips.Written August 17, 2024
- Trek584901825520 contributionsUnforgettableOut of this world experience! Highly recommend doing this tour when in Bogota. Communication and transport were excellent as we only booked it last minute on the night before. It was a private tour to a family run coffee farm and Cocoa farm. Our guide Hector Mora spoke Spanish but with the help of Google translate and lots of patience was still very informative. The language barrier did not hinder any part of the day. The views on the journey are superb. When at the coffee farm, we were greeted by a friendly family who helped us to pick our own coffee beans and do the whole process from tree to cup! The Cocoa farm was another hours drive but was another phenomenal experience where we saw the cocoa plantation in amongst the jungle. We again were informed and showed the process and got to try cocoa beans and 100% chocolate. The entire day 7:30-9pm transport, lunch and experience included was $120 USD per person worth every penny. Tips are very much appreciated (cash).Written August 14, 2024

- jackhI5188UK0 contributionsBirding in ChicaqueMy friend and I spent a great day birding in Chicaque National Park guided by Diego and Héctor from Andes Tours. They were both personable, knowledgeable, and clearly excited about seeing birds themselves. It was a great day out and I'll have memories of amazing birds to look back on for the rest of my life. Andrés was responsive and helpful in organizing the trip. I would recommend this trip plus the addition of a stop at the hummingbird observatory just outside the park. It is a small additional cost, but well worth it as we saw six species of hummingbirds up close.Written July 5, 2024
- Aleudyn0 contributionsA Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience!Andes Eco Tours gave us such a unique and special opportunity to see behind the curtain of typical tourism. For a day, we were invited to the homes of lovely, hard-working families to see what it takes to produce some of the most traded agricultural products: Coffee & Chocolate! Diego and Hector were wonderful guides, and we felt completely safe and cared for as we drove through South Bogota and into the rural mountain region. This experience was well-planned, and we got to participate in nearly every step of the production of these products. My husband and I had our two young sons with us (ages 7 & 9), and our hosts were so kind and considerate towards us and our boys! The provided lunch was also delicious :) I recommend this experience to anyone who desires to see a true, working Colombian homestead producing some of the world's most desired commodities! Thank you again for this opportunity and for an amazing day!Written June 12, 2024
- signelindgrend0 contributionsThe best money i have spent!I it was absolutely amazing! We booked the English speaking guide and it was perfect. This is so much more than a turist thing, it was a personal thing, with people who opens up their home for you, amazing!Written April 21, 2024
- dee_gaffney10 contributionsAndes Eco Tours. "Birds and Butterflies". (2 day trip from Bogota).A driver and interpreter collected the pair of us from our hotel in Bogota. They turned up on time, took us to interesting, lovely venues, and found lots of birds en route. We were the sole clients so we travelled in a car with just the four of us. We had stated that our major interest was birds, specifically hummingbirds. The driver was also a good bird guide, equipped with a 'scope which he used to help us see distant species. We had a comfortable overnight stay at a clean quiet farm, with a good home cooked dinner. It was a very pleasant two days. The only puzzlement was the title of the tour - we hardly saw any butterflies at all, however as they arranged the trip to fit our expressed preferences, maybe it would have been slightly different had we requested to see butterflies. Or maybe it was just the wrong time of year for butterflies. IWritten April 18, 2024

If you visit Bogota please consider taking this tour! It’s fairly small, so it’s very personal. The guide Lola is very friendly, the horse handler is skilled, and the horses behaved very well. I have no experience with horses and it was no issue! The view in the mountains was beautiful. It’s a very relaxed tour, a nice way to experience some nature and mountains around Bogota. The snack and drink at the end are delicious! It’s only about 4 hours total so you can easily plan time for shopping or exploration around the city on the same day. 100% recommend anyone to do this tour!

My husband and I were truly grateful that we chose this experience, given the wonderful views that can only be reached on foot or horseback--and horse riding is always fun! The horses appeared well-cared for, and they are the calm type good for such rides. The operator was very responsive via WhatsApp.
What I didn't realize is just how small the operation is, and apparently it is a little bit of a hardship to provide Andres, the guide who speaks English, who is wonderful. Apparently this caused a little bit of tension since I spoke Spanish and had experience riding horses and asked for an English guide because my husband didn't. Also, the rates on Trip Advisor/Viator are higher than those on the company's website. Overall, considering the transportation provided, it was a good value, but just be aware of that. It's really a worthwhile activity, but I wish I understood some of these nuances that I'm pointing out beforehand.

After booking, the proprietors immediately messaged me telling me they could not secure an English-speaking guide for the tour, and asked if I’d like to cancel. Of course not - if it’s okay with them, it’s okay with me.
So glad I did. Hector picked me up (early) from my hotel and drove me an hour - through Ciclovía - to the ranch. (He also drove me back through Ciclovía, and that in itself is heroic.) After about 20 minutes, we mounted the horses. By “we” I mean me and Daniel, the guide. I was so impressed that they didn’t cancel the tour on me, considering it was a lot of work to accommodate just one person.
The ride was peaceful and beautiful. Daniel and I communicated just fine through Google Translate. I can’t describe the scenery - you’ll just have to see it for yourself.
The horses are gorgeous and well trained. Even if you’ve never ridden before, this will be an easy ride.
Five stars all around!

The horse-riding experience was so unlike everything else I did in Bogotá, and I thoroughly enjoyed it! This was my first time riding a horse and the guides ensured I was comfortable and safe at all times. It was a bit of a drive from the city to get there (1hr approx) but it was well worth it.

What an incredible way to view the reservoir that helps supply water to Bogota! A beautiful two hour ride through a small part of the Andes, no prior riding experience required (though if you have some they're happy to let you take a slightly more adventurous path!) with stops along the way to rest and take photos at scenic spots. If you request an English-speaking guide you'll be sure to have someone to talk with you about local sights and the people/plants who live in the area. We had a wonderful experience!

Planning this excursion with my two daughters was so easy. The driver was very friendly and I ended up learning a lot about Colombia by talking to him during the drive to the farm. The horse were healthy and even my 6 yr old could manage hers easily. Our guide made sure we stopped for photo ops and was very attentive to any requests. I highly recommend this excursion (bring a jacket and maybe gloves! It’s much cooler than in the city)

Was a very fun time. 6 of us jumped a horse each and enjoyed a few hours riding through the Andes. They gave us a little bit of information regarding the area and it’s history and then we cruised back down the mountain to enjoy a nice tea and arepa.

Amazing horseback ride with stunning yet peaceful views. The horses were healthy and calm. The guides are with you, one in from and one in back, which provides a lot of comfort.
My 13-year-old daughter guided her own horse. We loved every trot of the journey, as the views awaiting us were just icing on the cake.

Nice response using WhatsApp before we booked the tour. Easy pick up at our Airbnb, no issues!! Andres made sure everyone was comfortable with the horses during the ride. We all wanted to stop for some local food on our way back, our tour guide had a great spot picked out.

This trip was great! Loved riding through the mountains and learning about the culture and farming economy of the area. The views are beautiful and the horses were gentle. Our guides were excellent and gave us great information, but also answered all our questions! We had arepas and the hot Aguapanela drink made by the family of Andres. Highly recommend this wonderful experience!
