Highlights
  • Avoid busy streets and hills on a relaxing bike tour
  • Explore Bogota with a guide: The city’s size makes it easy to miss key sites
  • Try fresh fruit in a local produce market
  • Convenient departure point in La Candelaria historic district
What to expect
  • Group bike tours begin at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. every day (private tours can start at any time). This four-hour exploration of central Bogota starts out with a visit to the historical center, including passing by colonial churches and the Botero and Gold museums, as well as a visit to the nation's main square, Plaza Bolivar. From there, we'll ride north to a fruit market and taste from Colombia's huge variety of exotic, tropical fruits, and then walk across the street for a game of tejo, Colombia's national sport. After that, we'll ride up Carrera Septima, past Independence Park, the Bullfighting Stadium, the National Museum and through the La Merced neighborhood, which feels like a bit of London with its English architecture. From there, we enter the National Park to try fruit salads, juices, corn-on-the-cob and grilled meats. Our stomachs filled, we ride west through the quiet and elegant Teusaquillo neighborhood to Calle 26, where we'll admire some of Bogota's largest street murals. After photographing a sculpture by Colombia Fernando Botero, we ride past the Memorial Center, dedicated to documenting human rights violations, and stop in a small coffee roaster. Here, we see how Colombia's world-famous arabica beans are selected and roasted for export. Then we'll enjoy a fresh brew of those delectable beans. Finally, we'll ride back to our starting point in La Candelaria, finishing off with one of the few uphills on this mostly-flat ride. The whole route covers about 12 kms.

Good start of our journey

We did a biketour with Mike. He was really enthousiastic and has so much info to tell! We have been to a lot of places, uphill, through parks, On and offroad. Would really recommend a tour with Biketours when you just arrive in Bogota, as after you know a lot more (also important things as a nice street with a lot of bars)

HI Marlee: Thanks for the nice review and the recommendations. But I'm trying to recall the offroad sections. Maybe in the National Park. Enjoy the rest of your travels. Mike

this was an excellent tour, Mike knows the city,, takes you through a variety of neighborhoods, and shows off some of the beautiful artwork, coffee shop, and other main features of the city, Traveled a leisulury pace with stops often to see and get an explanation of what you are looking at, and its significance to Columbia, was one of the best bicycle tours I have been on

Hi May: Glad that you enjoyed the bike tour. Some days the tour does last a long time. But the route is mostly flat, and includes many stops. It's a casual tour.

This is the perfect way to see Bogota and get quickly acquainted with the city. Anjel was an amazing tour guide with really good English and unique perspective on the city of Bogota and the country of Colombia. Her knowledge of coffee, politics, ecology, etc. is superb. I felt surprisingly safe biking around Bogota as there are many dedicated bike lanes. Highly highly recommend this tour.

Sightseeing bike tour around Bogota
So much fun and so informative. Not hard core biking so if you are looking for that this is not it. You are biking in city on bike lanes and streets with numerous stops for 4-5 hours. Mike is so knowledgeable about Bogotá and Colombia with funny jokes as well. Plenty of interesting geographical stops as well as local food and drinks. Very well functioning bikes in all sizes. Helmets are optional. For me the way to see Bogota.

Dikke aanrader!
I really loved the tour. We went to a lot of places, but I loved the most the stop at the coffee shop and fruit market. But also our guide Mike, gave a really good tour. I could write a long paragraph about it, but I mean you would have to try it by yourself to also live the good experience me and my sister had.

Do Sunday if you can - most streets are closed for cars.

Tour starts on a busy touristy street, but quickly dives to local streets. Great experience, very local.

Yes, Sundays are nice days to bike Bogotá, thanks to the famous Ciclovia, when they shut down many streets to car traffic.
