This is a fantastic trip! Ask for Cindy!
May 2021
Highly recommend this tour. Cindy was a fantastic guide, and we loved our driver too! We enjoyed a wonderful hike to Guatavita Lake, which was breathtaking! Cindy did a fantastic job explaining the significance of the lake and its surrounding area to the indigenous Muiscas. The Salt Cathedral was beyond the world! Great transition from the city, with an opportunity to see the surrounding rural area of Bogota.

Two stars in one ride
Jan 2020
Our tour started out with stars, our guides Aura and Guillermo were amazing, so much fun, and great ride up. We were picked up in a nice van for two of us. Guillermo is an amazing driver.
After visiting Bogota's favorites (Monserrate, Gold Museum, Botero Museum, La Candelaria..) the second must has to be going near Bogota's surrounding areas:

1.You have to go to Guatavita Lagoon, it's were The Dorado Legend started.....great walk, just make sure you go with walking shoes and comfortable clothes, it's a long walk and walk up the mountain. So so worth it. Gorgeous views, a walk thru nature, amazing story and the guide from inside the park was also amazingly funny and very entertaining even if we were so tired walking up the trail.
2. You have to go inside the Zipaquira's Catheral of salt, constructed and man made inside a salt mine. Impressive huge areas, with sculpted walls, crosses and figures, lights playing with shadows.....

We also had a delicious lunch included in the tour, Alma LLanera, which had a great ambience, live music, and food was really great.

Would Highly Recommend
The pickup from hotel was prompt and great. Nicholas was our guide for the day. We were provided water and ponchos. Nicholas was wondering. He was very knowledgeable. He pointed out interesting facts here and there in the different areas we went to. Lunch was great. I would definitely recommend taking this tour.

Really nice private tour
Nov 2019
We did this tour in early November, with Nicholas as our guide. Nicholas' english was very good and he did a great job explaining all sorts of things while we were driving to the sights, and he also translated the Spanish speaking guide at Guatavita which was very much appreciated.
At Zipaquira Nicholas arranged our tickets and English audio guides and waited for us to look through the cathedral at our own pace and meet him back at the entrance at the agreed time, for us this worked well.
Lunch was also included on the tour, and it was very good, hugely filling but also very tasty.
We really enjoyed our time on the tour.

Beautiful places
Nov 2019
First, pick up at the hotel worked very well. We enjoyed the private tour since it was more personal than group tours use to be. Thanks to our guide we learnt a lot about visited places. Salt Cathedral and Lake Guatavita are worth to see when you are in the region.

Pot hole
Oct 2019 • Friends
I would not waste time going to Guatuvita. Coming from the US, this is similar to one of our dirty pot holes. The hike was extremely slow moving as you cannot just go on the hike, but have to go as a mixed group with a guide from the preserve. The guide is Spanish speaking and having translation was problematic at best. The salt mine is ok, but I would just go there on my own and spend the 1 hour there for much less money. The tour itself was ok and we were able to get some shopping in, which was the highlight.
