- saolson2700Cool destination, too much time in the vanFirst let me say, the Tatacoa Desert is really cool and worth visiting. We really enjoyed our tour of the red desert, grey desert, valley of the ghosts, and visit to the natural pool. However, I would strongly recommend traveling by plane to visit Tatacoa. The drive from Bogota was simply too long, especially in only two days. The tour description says "approximately five hours." This is a blatant falsehood. The drive took NINE hours. I understand it was a holiday weekend, and the traffic was denser than usual, and the guide can't control that. But to be off by four hours is to mislead customers about the true length of the journey. Neither the guide nor driver gave any warning that the trip would take longer than expected, and grew very defensive when we asked about the route. What's worse than a nine hour drive when you were expecting five? A nine hour drive crammed into a middle seat in a tiny van while holding your backpack on your lap. The van was really too small to comfortably hold that many people for more than a few hours. Really unfortunate, considering we spent the majority of the two days in the van. We had several miscommunications with our guide, mostly because she didn't seem to know what the agenda was and kept telling us contradictory things. We approached her about this on the second morning and asked for her to clearly lay out the schedule so we knew the plan. Yet despite this, we had another miscommunication that day when she tried to cut a key part of the visit (the valley of the ghosts) from the itinerary without telling us. It was re-added to the agenda after fierce protesting from us. She also did not translate what the local guide said into English. Most of us speak Spanish, so it was okay, but the tour was supposed to be in English and she did not even check that all of the group could understand. Altogether, we were pretty disappointed with this tour.
- HVwriter00A Great Experience!!Such an amazing journey....my son-in-law and I had two incredible days with Lorena, our guide and Emilio, our driver. Trekking through the gray desert and enjoying the red one...staying over at the colorful Oasis hotel....eating local foods outside on the porch at the Sal Si Puede restaurant in Villavieja...it was "all good!" We will never forget our ferry crossing of the flood-swollen Magdalena River!! Even though cloudy skies curtailed the "dark sky" experience for us, we highly recommend this adventure!
- Maddy L00Salt Cathedral in ZipaquiraThe Salt Cathedral was an incredible experience We went independently on public transport from Bogota ( 4 buses) and purchased our ticket on the day at the site. The audio guide was informative and easy to operate. We spent at 2 hours exploring the cathedral.Afterwards we spent time in the pretty traditional town of Zipaquira where there are lots of places to eat and drink.
- _sunny_stretch_pole_00A private tour is not private as promised!I bought a private tour with my husband to the lake but when we came to the lake itself turned out we have to take tour with local guide and a huge group of other tourust. It's not allowed to get to the lake alone ( with our own guide from this agency), you have to go 1,5 hours with the whole group and with stops every 2 minutes . You cannot turn back and you cannot go in your own tempo too. These are the rules of the lake, and no one warned us about it before, this is exactly the type of excursion I hate and would never go if I knew. My husband had a knee surgery and he cannot stand too long , so walking 1,5 hour with constant stops is impossible for him. We tried to get a permission to walk with our guide fast to the point where we can see lake, but it's not allowed. After we found that out we asked manager who sold us tour to solve this fairly ,I didn't expect for full refund, only partial - but we got nothing. - I asked manager Miguel Montoya before buying if we can stop the tour at any time or if we can make it fast, and he said yes - which was a lie. We feel scammed and disappointed with such attitude!
- Leandro M00Beautiful Hacienda! The hacienda is very beautiful and the tourguides are very nice! Its a beautiful trip would recomend it!
- debbiehQ710SD00Cows, countryside and villa de leyvaCows and countryside scenery and Villa de Leyva, oh my! This is a full day tour. Expect to be gone at least thirteen hours, especially with bogota traffic. Cindy and John were so sweet. There was a miscommunication about pick up time but they kindly waited for us to stumble downstairs. Cindy, our guide was very personable and chatted with us the whole three hours out. We stopped for coffee and cheese arepas, the start of a cheesy day. The countryside is beautiful and cows and sheep are everywhere. You eventually descend to the arid dessert that surrounds villa de leyva and get a very quick intro to the city. About fifteen minutes to forty five minutes. It is a cute town but many things weren’t yet open on a weekday morning. Which also means we weren’t pushing through hoards of people. Then it was onward to the 16th century monastery without resident cats who are just looking for love. Cool, old building and stories that remind me of Spanish missions in California. Almost everything is in Spanish but the guide will give you the gist and you can ask questions. After that whisked to one of three Colombian vineyards. You get a tour in Spanish that your guide translates and then tastings. Then you are whisked to the artisan town for a Colombian lunch…..ajiasco… and maybe some quick shopping. Then about a four hour or longer drive back to bogota when if you are like my husband, you can nap! It’s a lot in one day but for people wanting to check a lot off list and not stay overnight in villa de leyva, it is a good option.
- Bartolomeo d00serendipitous antagonist of more celebrated settingsBolivar Plaza appears clumsy compared. This was clean salubrious and with poised theatricity, retaining its ingredients. It added to the overblown Salt Cathedral saga. Spanish Colonial style, colourful and with the town fragrant and in a good scale. Worth walking, enjoying the poetic simplicity. The open, undulating surface wise square, provides space and foregone time pervades it
- mochashome100Just OK...but traffic made this a nightmare! We were hoping to visit a rural coffee plantation, but this is just a beautiful villa inside a busy city. Hacienda Coloma is worth a visit, and our tour there (and guide) were fantastic. The grounds are beautiful and we learned much about coffee growing and production, but their main product is "coffee liquor" and this was not a coffee farm. Unfortunately, the tour itself was a disaster due to traffic. Our 6 hr tour (to enjoy 1-2 hrs at Hacienda Coloma) turned into a 10 hr marathon spent sitting in a minivan. Our guide was kind and apologetic, but provided little to no information about delays and agenda (we "missed" the 11 AM tour, then had to wait for the 2 PM tour). Our driver was safe, but was unfamiliar with the route, made wrong turns and backtracks, and took us the wrong way on a one-way street! Lunch was "meh", though our guide tried her best to make things better. Even without the traffic, this was definitely overpriced. Hacienda Coloma is worth a visit, but we recommend picking a different coffee tour (or different tour company).
- 530doloresc00Heavenly Coffee ExperienceThe coffee tour was fantastic! Really enjoyed learning about coffee from start to finish. The tour guide and driver, (Amy and Guillermo) that drove us there and back were very friendly and informative to our questions about the area. The staff from the Hacienda Coloma were also super friendly and knowledgeable about coffee. Will definitely recommend anyone to take this tour.
- 819andreay00Unique but overpricedTruly unique but it’s not worth the time and money. We hired a driver to take us from bogota. With traffic it took over 2 hours. Then they charged 113,000 per person so it’s very overpriced. All you see are crosses of the same type and size, a few coloured LED- lights. Take the stairs down from the angel to the cathedral… it was beautiful, took my mind off the 2 hour ride back.
- Rod417800Not up to expectations. We very very disappointed with the arrangements of this tour. We booked a private vehicle for the two of us. We paid a premium for this and it was not worth it. The car was a small Renault and as the driver was tall, the back seat was very cramped as there was no leg room. My wife and I took turns to sit in that side with our legs squashed. As there was 9 hours of driving in the day it was not much fun. The English speaking guide didn’t know anything about where we were going. He simply spoke English so he could translate for the driver who actually knew the area. Finally neither the driver nor the tour guide wore masks. There were no protocols for Covid. We wore ours all day. Although water was included we were finally offered one bottle to share at 545 pm The tour itself is interesting and the towns in Boyaca are lovely and the salt cathedral is amazing. But given the price and 13.5 hours in a small car, we wouldn’t recommend it or this company.
- Jordan_McAlister00Wonderful Boyacá, IndeedWe had a really lovely time on this day trip from Bogotá. We were eager to see some of the historic towns and the countryside surrounding Colombia's capital, and this option did not disappoint. Be forewarned that this is a long day trip, beginning at sunrise and extending to well after sunset. Lorena, our tour guide, and Miguel, our driver, were super kind and helpful to us at every step. They're working very hard at an over 12-hour day, and deserve high praise. ¡Muchas gracias, amigos!
- Aditi S00Amazing way to visit many attractions! My father and I wanted to go on a day trip including the Salt Cathedral with an english speaking guide. Lorena (the guide) & Vitelmo (the driver) were absolutely wonderful. Lorena was informative and engaging; she shared a lot about Colombian history (at the sites and during the drive) and we had a lot of fun chatting with her at the vineyard as well. Vitelmo was an excellent driver - he drove us through very scenic routes and got us to all the locations in a timely way. This trip is a great way to fit a bunch of sites into one day - highly recommended!
- DCnative9400Fun in FusagasugaWe liked every thing about this tour! The pick up was simple and right on time. The vehicle was very clean and comfortable. Our guide Cindy was delightful and our driver Guillermo was terrific. We enjoyed the ride despite the traffic. The finca was beautiful, full of flowers and butterflies. Our guide at Coloma, Julian, was friendly, knowledgeable and a great linguist. The ride home over the mountain was also a treat! We highly recommend this trip. Even if you think you know a lot about coffee, I’m sure you’ll learn something new!
- aysepip00Such an amazing private tour of the Salt Cathedral!Any visit to Bogota should include a visit to the Salt Cathedral with this company! Cindy was outstanding and a gracious host! Pedro was a fantastic driver and the two of them made this visit to Bogota magical! Cindy’s knowledge and love for her country was evident and I was treated like royalty throughout the entire tour. The cathedral was such an incredible and interesting place to see as was the town of Zipacuira. Stunning architecture, wonderful people! Please take the time to visit!

This was one of the greatest adventures in a subterranean mine I've ever had! I have worked in the mining industry, so I am familiar with some of the attributes of a subterranean mine. What's makes it special are the stations of the cross. Each of the stations is carved out of the subterranean mining walls and ceilings. The beauty is phenomenal! I really enjoyed the tour.
The only negative thing I can say is that it is very commercial. As a Christian, If a person were able to take their time and go through the mine on a "spiritual walk" it would have been VERY moving. All in all, it was a great site to see, and I would definitely recommend a visit.
The little town of Zipaquira is a quaint little town that dates back to the late 1500s and is evident in it’s architecture. We spent quite a bot of time exploring the city and enjoying it’s fine traditional Colombian Cuisine.

The two sites are interesting and very different. The cathedral is a wonder with interesting architecture. The lagoon has an important history and is a natural wonder. This private tour was perfect for our group. We were comfortable in a minivan and were able to dictate our timing at each location, within reason of course. Traditional Columbian lunch was provided and our guide Xiomara was very personable, enthusiastic, and helpful.

The pickup from hotel was prompt and great. Nicholas was our guide for the day. We were provided water and ponchos. Nicholas was wondering. He was very knowledgeable. He pointed out interesting facts here and there in the different areas we went to. Lunch was great. I would definitely recommend taking this tour.

This tour is absolutely unforgettable and is definitely worth your time. Guests will be able to see the natural beauty of Colombia, learn about its history, and witness the monumental achievement that is the Salt Cathedral. Esteban and Mauricio were exceptional as tour guides and really welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone traveling abroad!

We visited with some friends and the weather was rainy. As soon as we descended into the caverns it did not matter. 80m below the surface, it will take your breath away. To understand that the mine was still active 100m below are feet was remarkable.

I did this tour last March 25. My tour guide was Paola ( I hope I got it right) and have an awesome driver ( wish I could Remember his name ). This tour was worth every penny. We first went to lake Guatavita fearing it might rain if we do it in the afternoon ( which it did). Great decision on the part of my guides. Hiking up the trail to reach the lake was awesome! Passing through the amazing ecosystem of that mountain and when you reach the top looking at that amazing green lake/ lagoon. My guide Paola is fluent in English and made it sure and kept me engaged the whole trip. She also knows when to stop specially when she notices me feeling tired and sleepy. After the lake tour, we had an awesome lunch at this restaurant close to the salt cathedral. Since it was Sunday, there were a lot of people in the restaurant but still a great experience eating with both the locals and tourists alike. Then on to the salt cathedral which is another unique experience . Last but not the least , I would like to commend the driver who drove around 5 am to drop off my sunglasses case to my hotel . I wish I could remember his name but what I know is he is always partnered with Paola every tour. I highly recommend this tour. It is so worth it!!!

I love to travel and have been on many different types of tours. But this one will always stand out in my mind as one of the best and most unique tour experiences I’ve had for one main reason. Andrea.
A tour is only as good as the guide. Andrea, and her driver Carlos, showed up as a private one on one tour guide I found on “Marriott Moments” and by the time the tour ended, they made me feel like I took
a day trip with friends.
She was super nice, very knowledgeable and spoke English perfectly (normally I don’t comment on how well people speak English when I’m a guest in their country because ... well ... I’m a guest in THEIR country. But I saw comments on here about that and felt compelled to say something).
Back to the tour ... the price was the best I found even significantly beating out the two different tour operator options my hotel suggested to me.
The two tour destinations we visited were really cool. I HIGHLY recommend both. Just note for the lagoon part you hike a bit so I’d suggest you get acclimated a little to the Bogota altitud before going.
If your looking for a private professional tour that’s reasonably priced and makes you feel like your being shown around by a local friend, book a tour with Andrea!
One last note, Andrea and Carlos were super respectful of all non-tour related conversations. They were inquisitive but not invasive and let me dictate the conversations. I found them both to be knowledge, open and honest. They also gave great free advise on things to do in and around Bogota!

I would not waste time going to Guatuvita. Coming from the US, this is similar to one of our dirty pot holes. The hike was extremely slow moving as you cannot just go on the hike, but have to go as a mixed group with a guide from the preserve. The guide is Spanish speaking and having translation was problematic at best. The salt mine is ok, but I would just go there on my own and spend the 1 hour there for much less money. The tour itself was ok and we were able to get some shopping in, which was the highlight.

When I see the option to select the reservation, it shows as $85. But when I click through, it becomes $282. Why?

No, our guide left us at the Cathedral entrance and we met up an hour or so later.

Yo he ido a los 2 lugares a Zipaquirá y Guatavita.
