Amazing tour, Nelson and Oliver did a great job explaining the history of the road, they made sure we were all comfortable and felt safe whilst also ensuring we had fun and shared some laughs along the way. Highly recommend Altitude due to the quality of the guides and as they are the company that departs La Paz the earliest, meaning you don’t come across any other riders on the road. 10/10! Gracias

Had a blast with Rodrigo’s death road bike tour. He took the time to go over safety measures and made sure no one was left behind while also filming and taking photos for us. They let you go pretty much at whatever pace you wanted while being safe and informative about the history of the area. Would recommend this experience with Altitude and Rodrigo to anyone.

What an experience! Rodrigo and the guys were incredibly accommodating, the entire time they made you feel comfortable and gave so much information on each section of the road. It is an experience I will never forget. Highly recommend taking the upgraded bike too!

Had an amazing time with Nelson and his crew. Good value as well – 500 bolivianos if you choose the simple bike with the least suspension (which was fine for me). You get pickup, breakfast, lunch, bikes and everything – only thing missing was the entrance fee of 50 extra bolivianos. Got picked up at around 6.20 and then got a mini-bus ride to the top. Then breakfast and around 20 km bicycle ride down the highway which was really fun and felt good to test out the bike. Then another car-ride that took us to the top of death road. We were well informed and also got to learn a bit of history about the road. Had a safe and fun ride down, the crew also took pictures that was included in the price as well. Some snacks on the road and then also lunch after the whole ride. Would recommend – of course!

Great organisation to do the Death Road mountain bike tour with! Good bikes, good regard for safety, and our guide Gandalf was really fun.
Don’t hesitate to book, they have their office inside the Wild Rover hostel. And just take the cheapest option for the type of bike, they are great and we didn’t see much difference with the more expensive ones.

Excellent trip - pickup at 6am which was great to get back to LaPaz on time for a night bus.
The driver and guides were great, safety briefings at the right points along the trail as conditions changed. Bike was decent, no complaints.
If you want to have youe brakes switched over (rear on left, for UK/IRL) you need to tell them at the time of booking... it won't be done for you on the morning.
Great energy and storytelling by the guides.
I would use Altitude again for other activities.

I only booked onto the death road tour the day before, but communication was clear and easy via WhatsApp. I was picked up from my hostel by our guide Nelson who was full of energy and very enthusiastic for the day ahead (eve at 6am!).
We made our way up to the first part of the new tarmac road where breakfast was set out looking out to a fantastic view, we were briefed with the safety rules and got familiar with the bike, once we made our way down the first part there was short drive to the start of the death road, a quick brief and we set off.
Fantastic views the whole way down the track, very exposed at points but plenty of room away from the edge. Nelson was taking every opportunity to get photos and film some go pro footage for me.
All in all, amazing day, would definitely recommend, bikes are in good working order, te whole day went perfectly and Nelson was a great guide Nelson who made the whole day very memorable.

The Death Road Biking Tour was absolutely incredible. Our super charismatic and energetic guide Nelson guided us from the freezing mountains 4500 meters above sea level all the way down the mountain with his colleague Oliver and their energy made the experience super fun and exciting, despite how bloody terrified I am of heights. 100% would recommend!

I was really hesitant to do the tour beforehand but it ended up being one of the best things I did on my trip to Bolivia, and even in the many months I’ve been travelling. From the moment we got in the car early in the morning, our guide Nelson was full of energy and radiated positivity. I felt safe and well looked after the whole day and it was obvious they were very professional and knew exactly what they were doing. The scenery was beautiful and I felt able to appreciate it because of how comfortable I felt during the biking. Overall it was an amazing experience! Thanks Nelson ✨ I would 100% recommend!
