      DO NOT BOOK THERE!!
Do not book there! I booked a trip on Friday for Sunday. Received Email confirmation, saying a travel agent would contact me with details. Nobody contacted me. I had to call and write several times via Email, Google and WhatsApp the entire Saturday afternoon. No answer. Then, just the answer: the tour is not operating. No info about this on the website, where you can book. No Email. No Call. No info. I would have lost my Sunday. Fortunately, I could still find last minute another travel agency. They confirmed me everything immediately, Plus are cheaper. FOUR other travelers in my hostel had similar bad experiences with other tours! They will also write bad reviews! Also in my a very big hostel they told me that other travelers had very bad experience with this company before! DO NOT BOOK THERE! (the old good reviews seem fake!).

Steer clear of the big tour operators.
This trip didn’t happen due to a mix up in local providers in Potosi. We were taken on the (absolutely mind blowing trip) by another company who, in fairness, made an error in including us on their tour but these things happen. They were KOALA TOURS. The company asked for payment but we said we’d paid and that surely INTI TRAVEL would reimburse. No, they would not - which I think is quite disappointing. The local cost was 260 BOB for 2 & Viator charged us 442 BOB - so they aren’t losing anything. The local guides will have this money deducted from their salary which is terrible. I ask that Viator revisit this case and change their minds and pay Koala Travel for taking us on the tour. Until then I will steer well clear of them during our travels. Please re-look at this case and d do the honourable thing. WhatsApp me on +44 7412643359 for further details.

This was such a fun day. The scenery was breathtaking, and the cycling so exhilarating. Our guide Waldo was fantastic along with our driver Pato. We would definitely recommend this experience

      Absolutely Brilliant
This was a total highlight of our trip so far (6 weeks in all across South America). Our guide was waldo and our driver pato, they were fab and made the experience even better. The trail is indescribable, the cycle is so adrenaline filled - I recommend it to anyone, you just need a little bit of confidence on a bike, you don't need to be a total expert. It was cloudy and rainy and we still had a great time and got some great photos. It is very cold at the top so I recommend lots of layers/warm jumper, I also wished I'd brought my own gloves to wear under theirs, and maybe a scarf/snood and even a hat. Still, when you get down a bit out warms up, and you aren't doing any exercise really as you're just going downhill so you don't get super sweaty! We didn't do the zip line but it did look fun. Watch out that one you start the actual death road descent you won't have access to water or loos for 2-3 hours. We ended up having a private tour just the two of us, for a group it might be faster or slower I'm not sure.

      Great trip
This private tour was excellently arranged by Inti Travels. No hassle drive to Copacabana and a boat over to Isla del Sol. High elevation doesn’t allow us to run around the whole island, but we got to see some Inca sites. Ascent to the local village took a while, but it was worth it. We got to see the beautiful sunset over Lago Titicaca. Our hostess Sonia took good care of us in our accommodation. Next morning the beautiful sunrise over Isla de la Luna started the day. Boat over to Copacabana to see local Saturday life. Our amazing tour guide Juan explained the things and traditions we saw in the local market and by the church, where a wedding was ongoing. After lunch a drive back to La Paz. I can strongly recommend this trip. On the hindsight we could have stayed one night more in Isla del Sol or Copacabana.

Great experience thanks to a great guide
We asked for a combination of Lago Titicaca and Tiwanaku and get an offer. Unsure if it will be what we expect, we were picked up at our hotel in La Paz and had the greatest two days of our trip! The bilingual guide (Juan) explained a lot about the cultures in the country and was always here to answer any kind of questions. This was also possible because beside him, we also had a driver. The accomondation was great (very calm on the Isla del Sol) and the food always "muy muy rico". Thanks to our guide for amazing days. Route: La Paz - Copacabana - Isla del Sol (night) - Copacabana - Tiwanaku - La Paz.

      Impossible rock cutting
Very interesting rock placement, precision cutting and connections that are impossible today but done centuries before Christ. It would be a real game changer knowing how and actually who accomplished this. Some of the rock foundations slabs must weigh hundreds of tons but we're placed like pieces of a puzzle with connecting features, that prevented these huge slabs from separating from some extreme force, that make you wonder what exactly this was designed for and by whom. A time machine would help!

Disappointing Tour and a Tough Climb
We booked a tour to the Valley of The Moon and Mt Chacaltaya out of LaPaz. We were there in November, 2019 during the post election protests. We met our guide, Patti, at a rendezvous point near the Prada. The pick up was about 30 minutes late. The part of the tour to the Valley of the Moon was canceled due to protestors blocking the road. We received no refund. We did drive to Mt Chacaltaya and scrambled to the top. Although the walk is not steep and the path pretty good, be prepared for a tough climb given the altitude of about 17,000 feet. You will need to take numerous stops and the climb will take longer than you expect. The views of the surrounding Andes Mountains was spectacular. Well worth the effort. Overall the trip was fine, but make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. Also, we were somewhat disappointed by the reluctance of our guide to stop and allow us to take pictures at various places on the trip. If you choose to take this trip, be sure to inquire carefully about the logistics.

      Private transport
I contacted Inti Travel about a night transfer from Uyuni to Potosi. Although I did not end up using their service for unrelated reasons, they were extremely prompt about responding to me with options and prices, and continued to respond promptly to all my questions. They were definitely the best deal for this transfer, and one of the few Travel Agencies in Uyuni that we found that offered the service. I would definitely use them in the future.

Awful experience. They packed us in old Toyota van. Was 15 of us in this small van (no more than 8 people can fit comfortable ). Also, group was mixture Spanish - English, so guide needed to switch constantly, which is hard to follow. I would go again to Tiwanaku but with different provider. Site is amazing, long lasting memory!

Tiwanaku has so much history and interesting stories about the culture and the place. I really wish we had a better guide who was interested in telling us about the place. It was a shame really.

We were picked up by the guide in our hotel in downtown La Paz. He didn’t introduce himself. He just asked us for our names and told us to follow him to the van. When we got to the van, we saw that the van was old, kind of dirty, and it was full. My husband and I had to seat separately as there were no two seats together and the guide did not even bother to ask other passengers to allow us to sit together.

Throughout the trip, I had problems understanding the guide. He would speak 2 sentences in Spánish, then a sentence in English, then go back to Spanish again. It got tiring following him, so I stopped paying attention. This was very unfortunate because I was interested in learning more about Tiwanaku as I have heard so much about it. However, as much as I tried to listen, it was difficult trying to listen to someone who spoke too softy in half Spanish and English and rather in a monotonous voice.

During lunchtime, we ate at a local restaurant. The food was fine and the place was clean. The driver and the guide (along with other guides) were sitting in a separate table and drinking beer. I am not sure if this is an accepted practice in Bolivia, but I thought this was rather unprofessional to be drinking while working - especially the driver.

Perhaps, it was my lack of understanding of SpanGlish from the guide, but before our van arrived to our final destination in San Francisco Plaza, our guide left us in the middle of nowhere. We were left in the van with the bus driver who did not speak any English. Again, maybe I have set my expectations too high, but I would think (and expect) it is the guide’s responsibility to accompany us to our final destination.

Final thought: I felt a bit ripped off by this tour. It was not the money, but the time spent. I felt we wasted 6 hours of precious time listening to someone who obviously was not interested in his job. My advice: spend a bit more money and hire a private car and guide. Make sure that the guide is someone who likes his job and is interested in telling you the story and history about Tiwanaku.

I booked this tour via Tripadvisor as it received some good ratings and the guide was in English according to the description. I was picked up with a large coach (30 pax) with 18 spanish speaking folks and 2 English speaking. Besides the really large group, it also meant that the biggest part, about 85-90% of the explanations of the guide were in Spanish. It really felt like a rip-off, I could have gone to Tiwanaku with a private driver and would have been cheaper off. The other English speaking person spent 35% less and received the same ‘all-inclusive’ offering. I also did my research online, and saw that not all the tour operators are as good as others, as usual. I went deliberately not with Maya Tours since they received many negative comments. At the end of our tour, I received an envelope (with tips for the guide) and a booklet to write down my positive feedback, that said largely: Maya Tours. Please make sure not to book via them if you are looking for an informative tour around these great sites.

The places we visited were nice and I'm glad I got to go to Tiwanaku and Puma Punku, but I wasnt really happy with the tour itself.

I changed hotels and even though I informed them, they didn't pass the information on to the driver so I waited an extra 40 minutes before the bus got me.

I got the feeling the guide was rushing the tour and giving a lot more information and going much deeper into the history of the place to the group in Spanish than she was when speaking in English.

This tour was okay - the tour guide was pretty good and enthusiastic about the site, although a bit hard to understand in English. The lunch was good. Tiwanaku is nice to see, especially the statues (!!), but isn't the best archaeological site in South America that's for sure. I'd only recommend for those who love ruins - like me, and even I wasn't overly impressed.

I don't think we got what we paid for with Inti Travel though - people who booked in person seemed to have paid a lot less than we did (we booked online). I don't mind a small surcharge for the ease of booking online but I think we paid about 60% more. If I had paid what the others paid, I would say we received good value.

Hi Janice, Thank you for your comment, Tiwanaku is amazing, and there are a lot of archaeological places for discover, that part that you visited is only the 5% everything is underground. Impresive. About price, is not correct that is 60% more expensive, maybe you asked the price in other tour operators, yes, they are ""cheap"", but they dont include ENTRANCE FEE that is expensive, they dont include LUNCH, they dont include a Bus only for tourists. they dont include a especialized guide in Tiwanaku. We include everything into the price, because we have one ideology : "Pay everything at the beginning, and then only enjoy your tour" for that reason is a different price to the other companies. Thank you Janice.

    1. Tour guide was brusque at pick-up, did not introduce himself
    2. Guide did not speak well in english, and his translation style (one sentence spanish, one sentence english) was not good for easy comprehension
    3. There was a 1.5 hr delay in the trip due to driver getting the van booted, not communicating to us, and then leaving without explaining why (and leaving his cellphone in the car)
    4. Tour operator was not receptive to feedback, left us hanging

Dear KOEHL, About your comments, First we are really apologize, for the tour and because the guide didn’t introduce himself with you. The guide surely spoke a phrase - idea ( not only sentences) and translated it into English and Spanish because that day there were people who spoke English and Spanish, and apologies if we couldn't do the tour only in English for you. But we must integrate all people. When there was the problem with the driver, it was not that the driver went for a walk, the problem was that we had to pick up a person from the bus station, and when we picked up the person from the bus station, a police officer put a lock and the driver had to go to the bank to pay for the car lock that the police officer put to the car. We are really apologies, but it wasn’t our fault, the police didn’t understand that it was a tourist transport. And when you wrote your claim here, we can’t understand why you say "Tour operator was not receptive to feedback, left us hanging". We try to find a solution for all the group quickly. Can you also talk about the good things? And Also can you say that when you arrived to Tiwanaku you and your friend were far from to the group and explanation of the guide? We always try to do the best job for all our clients and that day was an mistake that came out of our hands. Again, please we are apologize.

Tour well organized. All participants were English speaking, however, the guide continually mixed Spanish and English and we were getting lost in hearing such mix.

Very unpunctual to leave and rigorous with the very limited times in each place.
The vehicle needs maintenance because it looks like it is going to fall apart.
The driver has no consideration for the passengers, he does not reduce speed enough on bumps or potholes.
The guide is generally good, although perhaps it would be advisable for him to pay a little more attention to the tourists' questions or questions or, in his case, answer that he doesn't know.
    Lunch was good.
