Stop At: Granja Colonia, Ruta 1 Km. 167 Riachuelo Departamento de Colonia CP, Colonia del Sacramento 70000 Uruguay

This place can be seen in several different ways. First, like a museum. Second, like a restaurant. Third, as a place to buy rich preparations. Fourth, a small zoo. Fifth, an event center.

So, summarizing what is this place? Apparently, the answer lies in the very nature of its creator, Don Emilio Arenas, a man of particular tastes and very marked hobbies.

A man who has dedicated his life to collecting objects, coming to have appearances in the Guiness Record. For example, it has thousands of key chains, matchboxes, graphite pencils, perfume bottles and many other mini collections of very varied objects.

In what is offered for sale to the public, its jams stand out among others. Its rich preparation and especially its strange and striking flavors, make them a memory that the visitor tends to take frequently.

Stop At: La Calle de los Suspiros, Colonia del Sacramento Uruguay

The best way to get into the history of a city is to walk it slowly, aimlessly and asking everything to those who cross our path. In Colonia del Sacramento, visitors can suddenly find themselves in the middle of Calle de los Suspiros, a place that transpires magic, history, secrets and legends.

This small street is a narrow pedestrian street, uneven, without sidewalks and paved with wedge stones. Hundreds of years ago, sailors went through it after landing in search of fun after a long trip. Many hours of sea and immense river had to be exchanged for entertainment on the mainland. And this, whether for the Portuguese or the Spanish, Cologne always had it.

Formerly, this picturesque street was called Ansina. Legends are woven on their current name: why Street of Sighs? There are several stories. One of them maintains that those sentenced to death were taken to the street of "sighs" to drown them when the tide rose. Another story posits that this street used to house numerous brothels, refuges of sailors tired and eager for fun, and that when they passed it, the soldiers piroueted the prostitutes and sighed again and again for them. The last story, and perhaps the most romantic, tells us that on a wonderful moonlit night, a young girl in love was waiting for her beloved. Suddenly, a masked man stuck a dagger in the middle of his chest. Only a discouraged sigh of goodbye was heard ...

Perhaps new stories arise, it will be a matter of looking for them. The Street of Sighs still retains its magic that transports us in time to continue dreaming. You just have to get to it.

Stop At: Barrio Historico, Colonia del Sacramento Uruguay

The Historic District of Colonia del Sacramento was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1995. The site has exceptional universal value due to the presence of outstanding testimonies in its urban layout and in its constructions, linked to the nature and objectives of colonial establishments Europeans, especially during the initial period of the late 17th century.
The Colonia del Sacramento founded by the Portuguese in 1680 was an object of controversy between colonial countries. The changing occupation left its mark on the appearance of the City and created this remarkable fusion of Portuguese, Spanish and post-colonial architectural style with qualified and surprising spatialities.
Colonia maintained historical importance as the most important Plaza and Puerto Militar in the region until the founding of Montevideo in 1726-29 and today has relevance as a heritage resource of the country reflected in the tourist attraction.

Stop At: Puente Giratorio, De Abril 19, Carmelo 70100 Uruguay

The history books say that it was May 1, 1912 when finally the Las Vacas stream achieved what even in the most remote dreams its inhabitants had devised: a bridge that in addition to crossing it on its side allows large ships and Openwork pass. In Carmelo the dream became real.

The bridge became part of the life of the Carmelites (this is how the inhabitant of Carmelo is known), who felt so proud of “the work”, as some still call it here, that the invention had an impact on the rest from the country.
Carmelo's swing bridge

Everyone wanted to have an equal one, but it didn't happen and Carmelo's, in addition to being the first in the country, is the only one whose movement is carried out by human traction. And so, even today when the city is named the bridge is the first word to which it is associated.
