Byblos, Jeita Grotto and Harissa Day Trip on Day 2:
Jeita-Byblos-Harissa (Full day tour) will be taking place on Saturday (April to October) and on Sunday (November to March).
On day two, your expert local guide will collect you from your hotel in central Beirut to kick off this memorable day-long tour of Byblos, Jeita Grotto and Harissa. Travel about 12 miles (20 km) by private, air-conditioned minivan to Jeita. Follow your guide on a boat ride on a subterranean lake where you’ll get an up close look at the Jeita Grotto, an incredible ancient cavern that was a finalist for the New7Wonders of Nature in 2011.
From Jeita you’ll make your way to Byblos—one of the oldest cities on earth. Home to more than 24 successive civilizations, this 7,000-year-old city is among the top archeological areas in the nation. Follow your guide through some of the highlights, including the Byblos Castle, as you explore this ancient destination.
Enjoy a traditional Lebanese lunch (own expense) before making your way to Harissa, where you’ll get an up close look at the Statue of the Virgin Mary—including the chapel and spiral staircase—and have the opportunity to look out over impressive views of the Bay of Jounieh. Your guide will explain how these religious sites are a destination for pilgrims from across the globe. Settle back in to the comfort of your private vehicle for the return trip to your Beirut hotel, where this incredible tour ends.
