    Itinerary
Day 1: Amman Queen Alia International Airport – Amman (D)
Start your Jordan experience with an airport transfer to your hotel in Amman. Check in, and then enjoy dinner in your hotel and the rest of the evening at your leisure.

    Day 2: Amman – Jerash – Amman (B, D)
After breakfast, head out on your morning coach tour of Amman, Jordan’s capital. The city boasts history and sights in equal measures, and your private guide shows you its highlights. Sit back and relax for a private car ride around the downtown streets, seeing the spectacular Roman Theatre, traditional markets, churches and mosques.

After your city tour, take a break for lunch in town (own expense), and then set off on your afternoon excursion to Jerash, roughly 1.5 hours away. When you arrive in the ancient city, enter through the main gates on foot, and gaze in wonder at well-preserved Roman architecture before you. Under Alexander the Great’s rule, Jerash became one of the wealthiest Decapolis cities of the Roman Empire.

See the Oval Plaza, an intriguing egg-shaped forum, and amble down the famous colonnaded street. Stop whenever you like to take photos by some of the city’s many sights including temples and theaters. Along the way, your guide shares historical anecdotes about the city’s golden age. After your walking tour finishes, return to Amman by coach, and enjoy dinner in your hotel.

    Day 3: Amman – Madaba – Mt Nebo – Bethany – Dead Sea – Petra (B, D)
Check out of your Amman hotel after breakfast, and relax on the coach ride to the first stop of your action-packed day: the market town of Madaba. Often called the ‘City of Mosaics,’ the city owes its popularity to a lavish mosaic map of the Holy Land that covers the floor of St George’s Church. Head inside the church to see it, and learn about the town’s other ancient biblical sites from your guide.

After a lunch stop in town (own expense), continue west to Mount Nebo, the hill where Moses was said to have been granted a view of the Promised Land. Admire views of Jordan Valley, seeing the ancient lands of Judah and Jericho, and then travel onward to nearby Bethany, an important Christian pilgrimage site. Located on the eastern banks of the Jordan River, Bethany was recognized by the Vatican as the baptism site of Jesus Christ.

Stretch your legs on a stroll around Bethany, and then travel onward to the Dead Sea. The famous lake lies some 1,300 feet (400 m) below sea level, making it the lowest body of water on Earth. Put on your swimwear and enjoy some free time bobbing in the salty water at the Dead Sea Tourist Beach Rest House. After your relaxing soak, travel to your accommodation in Petra in the late afternoon. Enjoy dinner in your hotel, and spend the evening at leisure.

    Day 4: Petra – Amman (B, D)
Head out after breakfast to enjoy a full day of guided sightseeing in Petra. The rock-carved city created some 2,000 years ago is now considered a UNESCO World Heritage site and One of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Stroll through the Siq, the natural gorge that acts as Petra’s entranceway, and gaze in awe at the Treasury, Petra’s standout sight. The magnificent façade carved into the rock face has appeared in movies such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

After lunch (own expense) continue sightseeing, and view landmarks such as Petra’s Nabataean theater, the Royal Tombs and Petra Church. Finish your day by relaxing on the 3-hour journey north to Amman, and check back into your hotel in time for a final dinner.

    Day 5: Amman (B)
Your 4-night Jordan tour finishes after your hotel breakfast. Check out of your hotel and conclude with an airport drop-off at Amman Queen Alia International Airport, if required.
