About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- W8572BDalexb0 contributionsAwesome, memorable experience with David and Israel In ColorThis was my third time to Masada, but by far my favorite. David is truly a *wealth* of knowledge about Israel in general, but *especially* about all things history and archaeology. I learned a lot I didn't know before, and it made for a very special day. Also enjoyed Ein Gedi and the Dead Sea. Would strongly recommend David! He's nice, has outstanding english, and is an expert archaeologist with a ton of passion. It was a fun, well organized, learning filled day.Written September 19, 2023
- C1815GAsarad0 contributionsA great way to take a deep dive into Tel Aviv life, history and culture. This was such a fun and informative tour - David showed us a huge variety of top spots along with hidden gems and totally blew us away with his knowledge of the history and life of Tel Aviv - would highly recommend his tour!Written September 12, 2023
- The S0 contributionsAwesome day exploring Tel AvivDavid showed us the highlights of Tel Aviv and gave us a great understanding of the history of the city. We started off in Old Jaffa where he took us to some of the beautiful historical spots before venturing on to Carmel Market, where we tried a variety of authentic and delicious meals, my favorites being the hummus and knafe. We ended our tour in the area around Rothschild Blvd. We had a great day exploring the city. David was an awesome guide!Written August 22, 2023
- kcagle0 contributionsHighly recommend this tour!We had an amazing trip with David and highly recommend this tour. We are a family of 5 with kids ages 15, 12 and 10. David, who has a PHD in archeology, is incredibly passionate about what he does and has incredible knowledge of Israel, archeology, history and all things Israel and beyond. He was able to relate to everyone and keep the kids interested and engaged. He was careful about everyone’s comfort, helped with tons of photos and was a lot of fun!Written August 22, 2023
- Judith P0 contributionsAmazing tour of IsraelIf you want to have a clear understanding of Israel from a historical as well as current point of view, you simply cannot do better than touring with David. My husband and I spent 6 days total with David touring from south to north. His knowledge and clarity is incredible and he understands the importance of going over things again and again if necessary since there is there is so much to absorb. You will have fun with him and come away with a picture of Israel that is beyond informative, memorable and enjoyable. We all know that Israel is a complicated place with a complicated history so if you truly want a sense of what it is all about, I cannot encourage you enough to choose David as your tour guide. Also, despite being a solo operator, he is so thoroughly organized and professional that you will feel you got the service of large tour operation without the added layer of having to communicate with a third party. My husband and I had an amazing experience!Written July 10, 2023
- Explorer632216000040 contributionsAcademic tour in Caesarea National Archeological Park with DavidWe were on a tour with David, a group from the University of Chicago studying and touring Israel. David gave us a tour of the Caesarea National Park. The tour went between The Roman theater, The reef palace, Archaeological Park and ended in The Old City and Port (with delicious meal!!). It stretches chronologically from the era of the second temple and the rule of the emperors in the Roman Empire up to the Middle Ages and during the Crusaders. The tour was fascinating and answered our two main requests: A. To be suitable for undergraduate and graduate students. B. To be interesting and not remain at the "dry" academic details. This is a challenging task for any tour guide, and we were happy that David was able to combine our two requests with great success. The students as well as the accompanying professors came back with a very positive experience. We are highly recommending Israel in Color and David’s tours.Written July 9, 2023
- Cosmopolitan3136090 contributionsGreat experience!David was awesome! We enjoyed the tour so much. It was our first tour while in Israel and he set up the score really high!! Amazing and knowledgeable, knows lots about the history. He is archeologist.Written June 28, 2023
- paulrY1326CT0 contributionsDavid rocked!!David was incredible. He was easy to work with and we could make changes easily with him. There were only three of us and David, so it allowed us to move through things rapidly. He was a wealth of knowledge, and having a guide with a PhD in Archaeology never hurts! I'd definitely recommend working with him! He has some great connections and can customize things based on your interests!Written May 7, 2023
- HotelGuru90 contributionsVIP connections and a lot of funDavid was a great tour guide. Very passionate and knowledgeable about every location we visited. He’s also a very well-connected person. If you would like a unique private tour that includes meeting influential people in city, government, or the various faiths, he can make it happen. It made our tour significantly more rewarding, being able to experience the special locations most don’t get to see, and special people most don’t get to meet. Highly recommend David.Written May 7, 2023
- hbreich10 contributionsFun Time With DavidDiscovering Tel Aviv with David was great. He took us all over the city from touring old Jaffa , the Carmel Market and the liberty trail. Be ready to explore and discover the old and the new Tel AvivWritten May 4, 2023
- MashBoy0 contributionsGreat tour with David!David organized a great tour that was informative and interesting to all in our family, ranging from age 9 to 83. David is not only a licensed tour guide, but has a PhD in archaeology, which allows him to provide more depth and detail than a standard tour guide would. We definitely recommend!Written April 16, 2023
- calebp5730 contributionsGreat tour guideFriendly, knowledgeable, and interesting tour guide, who showed us the parts of Tel-Aviv and Jaffa that we requested.Written April 13, 2023
- Y1095INruthk0 contributionsDavid is a Wonderful Tour GuideMy husband and I had the great good fortune to have David Gurevitch take us to various sites and neighborhoods in Jerusalem that have special relevance to the issues facing Israel today. Our tour included a birds-eye view of Jerusalem (east and west) from the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization Headquarters, which was very helpful in illustrating the topographical (and resulting political) divisions of the City. We also visited the American Colony neighborhood and Sheikh Jarrah neighborhoods. Among other things, we learned about the long-running legal and political disputes between Palestinians and Israelis over the ownership of certain properties and housing units. David’s deep historical knowledge, combined with his expertise on current geopolitics, enables him to take events that occurred decades (and even thousands of years) ago and make them relevant to events occurring in the here and now. David's ability to connect the dots between past and present, and to do so in a way that is never pedantic but always engaging, makes his tour of Jerusalem a memorable and not-to-miss experience. My husband and I enthusiastically recommend David to anyone who is looking for a deeply knowledgeable, thoughtful, intelligent, and interesting guide who knows how to make history and the remarkable sites of Israel come alive.Written March 23, 2023
- StrongBuzz0 contributionsFun and Fascinating for both kids and grown upsDavid is incredibly knowledgeable and interesting and also makes it fun and approachable and engaging for younger ones in your group. Our kids are 9 and 13 and loved it. He is amazing!Written March 4, 2023
- Nirvanie D0 contributionsIsrael -Sea of Galilee tourDavid was very knowledgeable about the history and the landmarks that we visited. This was my first time in Israel and did not know what to expect. David made the trip more memorable by being accommodating and patient and very easy to communicate with. I will definitely refer David to any of my friends. Thanks again!Written February 22, 2023

Dr. David Gurevich is a tour guide like no other. He can speak authoritatively on on every topic from the period of Solomon's Temple to the Roman Empire to the Crusades to European colonial cross purposes in the Holy Land prior to the fall of the Ottoman Empire. As importantly, Dr. Gurevich can speak on Jerusalem's exciting geopolitical situation - from the creation of Israel to the the present day. I cannot recommend Dr. Gurevich enough. He is warm, friendly, experienced, seems to know everyone in Jerusalem, and was able to get access to sites that seemed off limits to everyone else. Regardless of your particular interest, Dr. Gurevich not disappoint! I will book him as my tour guide on all subsequent trips to Jerusalem.

I highly recommend going on a private tour if Jerusalem with David. I was in Jerusalem for work and wanted to have a better understanding of ancient Jerusalem. We arranged two separate tours, one that explored Iron Age Jerusalem and the other the period of the second temple and Byzantine periods. I’m the tours were wonderful. David is an archaeologist, and very well informed. The trips were well planned and, as one can imagine, Jerusalem is an extraordinary place historically as well as culturally to explore. Thank you David for the terrific tours!

Don’t look any further. David is your man. Another tour guide who crossed our paths on the spectacular walk on top of the city walls told us:” Oh, you got David! You’re very lucky! He’s the best.”
Indeed, he is.
We enjoyed very single minute of the entire day we spent with David. His historical and archeological expertise is spectacular. Walking the old city with David is travelling back in time. You have no clue how much you’re missing out without the experience and knowledge of David, ranging all the way from contemporary politics to ancient burrial rituals and biblical seals. A highlight that particularly stood out amongst all other gems along the way was the archeological site close to the western wall to which David took us, thanks to his excellent relationships with the leading archeologist of the site. Any further questions?:)

If you are passionate about history and interested on archeology, David (or better Dr Gurevich - as he has a renowned PhD in archeology), is your choice! Needles to say, David has a deep knowledge about Israel’s history and archeology, still he brought it down to earth and made it easy for us to understand facts, theories, beliefs and anything in between! thru detailed enough explanations supported by illustrations, pictures and a Bible. He also listens and seems appreciative of other points of view. We appreciated very much this guiding approach We also loved the pace of the tour, never rushed and actually at some points I felt we may need to go faster with fear we would not cover enough ground but I was wrong, timing was perfect, he knows. He was always very sharp and on time. From our long list of things to see, there was only one we could not do as we were late (it was Election Day which made us start later than needed), still David added a couple of alternative places not originally in the plan. We are Christians and were wondering how the Christian focused day would be but we were gladly surprised as well. Touring with David was a luxury and even a couple of times other guides stopped us to say how lucky we were to be guided by Dr Gurevich!. We hired 4 private guides while in Israel, we wish David would have been our guide for the whole trip! We had to leave Israel earlier due to a family emergency, so we left some places pending to see…..I am sure we will be contacting David if we have the chance to return to Israel!
