About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Robertduanedennis0 contributionsExcellent, safe, and fun tour of GalileeMax did great as a guide and our driver was safe/professional. The guide, Max was sensitive to my wife's disabilities. Max was multilingual too, knowing both Spanish and Russian, as do I. This was helpful, as I didn't need to translate to Spanish for my wife. He could speak directly with her. The tour was great also because I preferred to relax and let someone else drive for a day. We felt safe and cared for as well, given the current conflict situation. The tour was timely, fun, and educational. It was a pleasure to experience what Israel's northern Galilee region had to offer. We came to Israel to volunteer, as well as for sightseeing. We came to stand with Israel in this difficult time, and felt safe and fulfilled in doing so.Written July 24, 2024
- adamdavidh0 contributionsHigh Energy Fun. Amazing Guide. Highly Recommend!ATV Desert Buggies in the Negev was amazing! The machines were fabulous and our guide - Daniel - was amazing. We had SO much fun. We went for 2 hours, but next time we will take a longer trek. He took us on an amazing ride around the crater - served the best homemade cold tea ever and explained how the crater was formed with greater clarity than I've ever heard. Was absolutely very high energy and fun - but completely safe. Kids had an amazing time! We will absolutely be back and highly recommend!Written July 14, 2024

- scottwK4854ZU0 contributionsTransfer from Tel Aviv to JerusalemTaxi ride was a good guy, but he accidentally deleted my pick up so he was an hour plus late. I had to call him to find out where he was. He got there within the half hour after I made the phone call, which was great. He said that a pick up was canceled, but he deleted the wrong one accidentally. We all make mistakes.Written June 26, 2024

Driving through the Judean desert is beautiful, floating in the Dead Sea is a unique experience everyone should try. The views in Ein Gedi and Masada are incredible.Written June 21, 2024
- 294bernards0 contributionsKnow the difference between a "tour" and a "transfer"Seeing that this is a touring company, I booked what I thought was a private tour to the south with a professional guide. However, they called it a "transfer" and simply provided me with a regular taxi driver at double the price of the open market. Be warned to read the small print and distinguish the difference between a "tour" and a "transfer". To their credit, the service/corresponce with the company was good and the taxi was clean and comfortable with a friendly and safe driver.Written June 20, 2024
- Q144AHdeborahs0 contributionsDo Not Use Them!5 days before our trip we have a pc to firm up details & pricing for multiple tours. 2 days later the invoice comes, looks nothing like our discussion & is for $2K LESS than agreed upon. A tour company couldn’t sort (for example) 4 afternoons at $500 per for just 2 people? Their excuse was “the war, people aren’t coming”. My hotel was full of tourists & we met tourists everywhere we went- on our own, in a country where we didn’t speak or read the language. We did use TI for a 3 day Petra tour, which was lovely, but the preparatory comms were abysmal: delayed, unclear, spotty at best. Informed we needed to file docs for entry to Jordan in advance that was only sent to us the night before leaving! After spending 2 frustrating hours online, discovered it was completely unnecessary. Because it was after hours, we called the emergency number provided, to try to get clarification, but no one answered. Find a different tour operator; this one is unreliable & unresponsive.Written June 17, 2024

- Departure311872381220 contributionsThis company will take your money and runThey took an $800 deposit last September 2023 and we were supposed to go this June 2024. They ignored a request for refund since January of 2024 and stopped communication. They are not to be trusted as a true tour company. They possibly do day trips but are not a real company. We will continue to attempt a refund but it looks bleak and they are probably not financially not sound. DO NOT SEND THEM MONEYWritten June 7, 2024

- F6783QFjimt0 contributionsFootsteps of Jesus in GalileeThis was the first day trip back to Galilee from Jerusalem for our guide Omer Geva. Picked up on time, then added more guests in Tel Aviv, then on to our first stop Nazareth, Jesus' birthplace, followed by his first miracle site the wedding feast at Kana. We had a great stop in Capernaum then we stopped by the Mount of the Beatitudes where Jesus multiplied the bread and fish. The day finished with a stop at the Jordan River where it is said Jesus might have been baptized. Omer's passion for the sense of place and for the Biblical story was evident all day and he bent over backwards to meet everyone's needs. I would describe him as a natural teacher and a guide who could 'read the room' perfectly. Thank you so much.Written June 1, 2024

Ideally you’d spend longer in Petra but I had a day from Jerusalem. This tour is an impressive feat of organisation, multiple buses, assisted border crossings, two countries....Really well organised very professional and for me the only time I’ll ever see Petra. Do what the company says... bring USD cash for visa/border fees.. you can’t use credit cards.

This company does NOT care about your safety, especially when children are involved. When you are waiting for a tour at 3 AM in Jerusalem and an unmarked bus shows up, doesn't ask for your name, nor your confirmation number, and then doesn't have enough room for you and your family, you should be concerned.
We showed up early. The concierge of the hotel told us where the buses pull up. Two arrived. The driver of the first bus got off the bus. He then proceeded to announce the tour and ask every individual for their confirmation number along with their name. The 2nd bus driver never got off the bus. We were led to believe it must be our tour. People were sleeping on the bus and the driver just let anyone on. There were not enough seats and passengers were sitting on the stairs in the back of the bus. We had young children with us: 8, 9 and 10, and we did not feel safe under any circumstances.
We had seen Tourist Israel buses around the area, so we felt safe in booking with this company.
I would never recommend this company to anyone. I own a travel agency and we vet companies that we work with, and this one is for sure on our list of DO NOT SELL.
I have brought this to the attention of all of our travel agent contacts, letting them know this company is not to be trusted and does not regard your safety.
Proceed with caution if you choose to use this company.

trip was great from the guides to the coordinated busses and facilitating of crossing the border however the timing allowed inside of Petra was limited down to 2 hours. This was not terrible however in the grand scale of everything it was a challenge as these 2 hours inside of Petra required a 22 hour trip (up from 3am to 12am). A recomendation would be to cut down the rest breaks, reduce group sizes, and maintain a tighter/stricter schedule.

I couldn't miss the opportunity to visit Petra, Jordan, during my trip to Israel. I made a reservation for a one-night and two-day tour, but it was canceled, so I had no choice but to proceed with the one-day tour. It was a tremendous bus trip that required me to stay up almost 24 hours, but I was grateful for the opportunity to visit Petra. The tour was very well organized, and the Jordanian Petra Guide was so funny and controlled the time accurately. Petra's impression was so great, but I don't want to do it twice because it was physically difficult.

Our family (no young children but there's no option for family with no young children) went to join the trip from Jerusalem to Petra and back to Jerusalem. It can be exhausting as you'll be travelling from 3am to 12 midnight but it'll be super worth it. The tour was well-organized and we didn't have any trouble crossing the borders.

Hi ryezelabbyc, thanks for your review. We know this tour is a long and tiring day but, as you said, it is worth it to see Petra if you don't have more time. We are glad everything went smoothly and we hope you'll join us again!

Despite this being a long and arduous journey, the company runs it regardless of the weather. They sent us into a 100 year storm. Petra had to be evacuated. Other tour buses turned over in the landslide. We did not get to see Petra and spent the entire almost 24 hours in dangerous conditions and the company will not refund our money.

Dear Michele,
Thank you for taking the time to share your opinions with us.
Reading your review makes us sad because the weather in Petra has been quite pleasant. In case you are referring to the floods that occurred last December, we offered to reschedule the trip or issue refunds to those who were unable to take a tour on a different day, despite the fact that the weather was beyond our control. We would love to be in touch to hear more details and further look into the matter,
Have a nice day!

I would definitely recommend this tour! We were only in Israel a week and had to see Petra. For us the one day tour was enough and I personally didn’t feel like I needed more time there. Everything was great with our tour. Representatives were present and explained all parts of the process from getting to the border, crossing, the tour, and then getting back over and back to Jerusalem. We were impressed with how seamless it was. Our tour guide in Petra was terrific! Have already told friends they need to do this!!

We did the day trip to Petra from Jerusalem and have a lot of concerns about how the day went. Not only was it not what was described on your website, but it also ended very scary as one of their drivers put us in danger with his driving. We were constantly swerving into other lanes. The driver became very drowsy and we actually crashed into the barrier as he slammed on the breaks throwing us all out of our seats. It was very frightening and we were all scared but he acted like it was no big deal. As we arrived into Jerusalem he started driving in oncoming traffic and we nearly had a head on collision. When we voiced concern and frustration for our safety he again acted like it wasn’t his fault and dismissed our fears. He said he didn’t speak English very well- but his driving was unacceptable.
Less life-threatening but still disappointing was the fact that their website says “small groups of 25 people” and we had well over 50 in our group. It says “4-6 hours in Petra“ and we barely got 2.5 hours. The site says “no hidden fees” but then costs $125 extra per person in visa fees at the border.
Petra itself was beautiful and we really enjoyed our 2.5 hours at the site, but given how much we paid for it and especially given the situation with an unsafe driver on the way home I leave the experience very disappointed.
I have sent this review to Tourist Israel twice and they refuse to respond to my concerns.

According to the itinerary, we were supposed to have five hours in Petra. Our tour guide told us we were ahead of schedule, however, we arrived 1 hour 15 minutes late and had to leave an hour earlier to cross through the border in time as it was Ramadan. Tourist Israel should have known about this well in advance. We also had to eat lunch before getting back on the bus which took up 30 minutes of our time in Petra. Therefore, we only had 2.5 hours in Petra which was not nearly enough time. On the way to Petra, we had spent about 45 minutes at a tourist shop - we would have much preferred to have spent that time in Petra.
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing Petra but had to do so very hurriedly and still didn't see everything. Considering the cost of the trip, we were very disappointed.
Additionally, the bus was late picking us up in Jerusalem at the beginning of the tour, so we were waiting outside for an extended period in the middle of the night when it was very cold.

Dear Traveler,
We appreciate your review of your recent tour with us, and we are sorry to hear that your expectations were not met. We would like to clarify that the timings on the itinerary are approximate and may vary depending on the group's pace. This year, Ramadan significantly affected the tour schedule, and we understand that this may have impacted your experience.
We appreciate your feedback and will take it into account to improve our services for future tours. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed seeing Petra, and we hope you will tour with us again in the future for a more satisfactory experience.
Thank you for your valuable feedback.

To take this day tour to Petra - do you need to have a visa for Jordan in your passport ahead of time (i.e. - prior to the trip), or rather, is the Jordanian visa and permission to enter the country secured and paid for AT THE BORDER when crossing from Israel?

Hallo,

$65 to exit Israel is legit. $60 on top of that is to pay their shady employees who are supposed to help you get across the border. Of course, they do not help in that regard whatsoever. There’s no reason to use Tourist Israel for any tour.
