About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- jbwhitehouse0 contributionsGroup ActivityDue to one of our family group testing Covid-positive, we were 18 instead of 19 participants for our ScaVentures Nachlaot area experience. “Leader” Eli called the day before to confirm details. We met as agreed opposite the Marzipan Bakery on Agripus. Eli offered a few minute historical orientation of the area, asked us to divide ourselves into three groups, and gave us a plastic envelope that contained a pencil, coins for tzedakah, a pad on which to make notes, and a booklet of route instructions. Each team followed the booklet instructions and made notes or took confirmatory photos to complete our assignments. Goal: the team that finished the fastest won. We are a friendly, competitive family group. We all very much enjoyed the challenges while going about the area. That said, it is a pricy activity. Eli was extremely nice and friendly, but added no value to the nearly 2-hour experience. Additionally, it was all so fast-paced that we wanted the information contained in the booklets, so we could later absorb it better when not racing from one location to another. Sadly, we had to return the booklets, which didn’t seem appropriate. As much as we had fun, the cost did not justify doing the activity.Written January 30, 2023
- bash31870 contributionsBest time in crazy weather! We had the best time on our scavenger hunt in Israel. Although we had planned to meet in the old city, the company had plan B because of the rain. It turned out to be great fun. We learned a lot about the shopping in the Shuk, the culture and foods of Jerusalem and that our kids may be smarter then us. They beat us in the game. We would highly recommend this tour game to everyone!Written January 3, 2020
- Robin T0 contributionsSelf-guided book has interesting facts but seems young for mixed-age groupBook is pricey for what it is. The historical and contextual facts are interesting but a bit dense to read on the street while touring. The activities are geared to elementary school age kids and are "young" for a mixed age group or teens. Covers the major tourist sites but would not purchase again.Written July 29, 2019
- Hadassah L0 contributionsShuk Dash App is really cool! The new Shuk Dash App is an interactive game you play with a tablet or phone. You get to know the Machane Yehudah shuk intimately by talking to people, looking for pictures and learning about food items you have probably never heard of. I went with a group of adults and we all had a blast. Would definitely take my family as well.Written May 5, 2019
- innkeeperontheroad0 contributionsGreat RxperienceOur family of 10, grandparents, kids and grandkids all loved our Nachlaot scavenger hunt. We all learned a great deal and used some of our knowledge later on during our trip. Tali was a terrific guide and the hunt materials were extremely well thought out. We highly recommend this educational activity.Written May 5, 2019
- Catherine B0 contributionsAmazing Engagement ScaventureCan not rave enough about the thoughtful heart and effort put into making my proposal sheer perfection, and custom organised from halfway across the world to boot. I learned so much about the history of Jerusalem and special points of interest I'd have missed on my own. I enjoyed the informed kind souls involved in each step, so many special touches that I'll remember and treasure my entire life. Highly recommend!Written May 2, 2019
- rjaffelieb0 contributionsWonderful for all ages!As a guide, I was super impressed with this activity; it is great for all ages and highly suggested while in Jerusalem. Not to miss!Written May 1, 2018
- Hadassah L0 contributionsFun and educationalI have done about 6 Israel ScaVentures so far, with and without children, and enjoyed every one thoroughly. I love the opportunity to explore neighborhoods and learn about the history through experience. I have even done the Old City one twice! I highly recommend this activity for tourists and locals! I haven't done the Tzfat one yet, so that's next on my list...Written April 30, 2018
- HUS-Montreal0 contributionsShameful. I paid for a complete waste of touring time -NOT RECOMMENDED>>> We pre-paid for the Shuk Machaneh Yehuda and the Old Yaffo activities. Very disappointing and actually a total waste of time if you are a tourist. If you are a local it might be OK to invest half a day doing what I describe below. The "activity" consisted of a ScanAdventure representative showing up (late) to the location to give us ~20 plastic cards with clues and pictures of the site, such as local shops or a historical place. You go around following the clue from point to point. Meet at the starting place about 2 hours later. Get a bag of gummy bears as prize. We made the best of it, but all this I could do without the cards and paying money. It is called walking alone. The representatives were supposed to follow us form a distance, just in case. One did and she was active (Yaffo) but one (Shuk) he did not AT ALL and even came back late again ! We almost just walked away with the plastic cards..... To pay money for this seems absurd, and wasting valuable tourist time even more absurd. Two half days of my life (and money) I will never get back..... Live and learn. AVOID.Written April 29, 2018
- H1774DNmartin0 contributionsWonderful and educational experienceI took my two older kids (12 and 10) for an incredible evening where we raced around the old city while diving into some of our nation's most important historical periods. It was competitive but incredibly enriching.Written January 14, 2018

- dickejoseph0 contributionsAmazing Scavenger Hunt!I took my girlfriend on this scavenger hunt and she loved it! By the end, she was my fiance! Tali and her team were a huge help in setting up a surprise proposal with a photographer and flowers at the end of the scavenger hunt. Something we will cherish forever!Written January 3, 2018
- Rebecca K0 contributionsFabulous! Fun and educationalOur family loved the scavenger hunt around the Old City. There was so much attention to detail, and interesting material that even the grown ups learnt a lot! There are lots of different roles/ jobs for kids so even younger kids can be involved and get a lot out of it. It was really fabulous and we look forward to trying out other scavenger hunts in different areas. Highly recommend!!!!Written August 13, 2017
- Aviva A0 contributionsA great was to learn about the Old CityWhat a great way to explore the Old City of Jerusalem! My kids, ages 13, 10, and 6 absolutely loved this scavenger hunt. It was their first time in Israel and you could see how real this activity made the ancient times in their eyes. Recommend!Written July 31, 2017
- NaiveTourists0 contributionsWell organized, great opportunity for learning and fun!I went with my husband as a day date activity -Scavenger Hunt in the Old City! We had a great time taking turns reading, taking interesting photos, learning new things and meeting great people. Although we had spent a lot of time in this area in the past, we learned a lot at our own pace. I love how organized Tali was from start to finish and would recommend this tour for any couples or families!Written July 30, 2017

We did the Scaventure with our 5 teenage kids and they broke us into groups of 3 and 4 which worked out perfectly. Everyone had their turn to shine.
We started off competitively but slowed down when we realized the interesting facts we were learning. We all really enjoyed despite the rain and hailstorm that happened in the middle of our game!

So far, I have attended three scavenger hunts with Israel ScaVentures in Jerusalem. All were very well-researched and -organised. I had lots of fun and picked up interesting details without even noticing.
The most recent hunt took place in Yemin Moshe, an area I know well. Yet I still discovered facts that were new to me.
I would recommend this activity to anyone - visitors and residents, families, couples and friends.

I did this activity with my ten year old son in the Old City of Jerusalem, and we both agree it was the most fun and educational portion of our visit to Israel. The game itself is crafted in a very creative way, and we were really "hands on" learning the history of the Old City. Although we had been to Israel before, we learned so many things we hadn't previously. The group leaders were intelligent, fun and helpful. There was nothing about this that we didn't like!!! I highly recommend it.

Our family, including 3 kids aged 13,9, 7 were engaged in the Jewish Quarter hunt from the moment we started our scavenger hunt. The scavenger hunt is great educationally, as you learn a lot you've never known about the Old City, but the kids are so involved in finding clues, looking around for visual clues and listening that they don't realize they've learned a lot. Each kid had a specific task keeping them all involved. The clues are fantastic at helping you understand the rich and storied history in the Jewish Quarter in such a fun and engaging way. I promise by the end, you'll never look at a column in the cardo the same way again, or think twice about leaving your key under the mat at your house.
If you really want your kids to "see" the Jewish Quarter and not just walk through it, then sign up for a scaVenture and you wouldn't be disappointed.

I generally avoid guided tours--finding they never go at the same pace I want to go, yet always feeling like I might be missing out on some interesting information. Israel Scaventures is the perfect solution. A fun and informative way to learn about the Old City--at your own pace and fun for the whole family. Our team was age 8 to 82. We had a blast and learned a lot. The Scavenger Hunt "guide" would keep tabs on us and provide other interesting information. A well organized activity. Although I won't be back in Israel for a few years, we are already talking about doing the one in Tsfat on our next trip. (The only downside, as mentioned by other posters is that the meeting spot in the Old City is not easy to find. People who live in the area don't know where the Sephardi Center is--you have to ask for the 4 Sephardic Synagogues. I asked about 12 people who all said I don't know or sent me somewhere else--but don't let that discourage you from this great activity.)
