The tour leaves from your hotel in the morning at approximately 8:15am, then will proceed through the Aqaba border, where you will be assisted be the staff. From there, it is an approximate 2-hour drive to Petra, with beautiful scenery along the way. Once you arrive at the Petra site, the guide will start the tour. Throughout the day you will see the mountains change colors, from pink, dark red, purple or orange. The tour will take you to see the Treasury, which is Petras most famous monument. You will also see crypts, baths, mourning halls, buildings from the past, temples, and a Roman theater. After visiting Petra, you will go to lunch (included in the trip price). Lies, fraud, scam, theft and substandard service rendered
Headline to this cruise: lies, fraud, scam, theft and substandard service rendered. I will regret to have made this cruise with Booking-tours for life. They have ruined our family holidays, this one has been the worse trip in our lives 1. When I booked the cruise from Aswan to Luxor they informed that our boat was Coral 2, receiving pics of it, So I agreed to book it. Surprisingly, just few days before shipping, they told us that the vessel was changed to M/s Prince Omar without sending pics or basic information 2. Someone was supposed to meet us in Cairo Airport to help with our trip arrangements but nobody showed up 3. Landing in Aswan, nobody was at the terminal to receive us as expected. Only after leaving the terminal, a guy approached us saying that he will be our guide but no credentials as Egyptologist and no relationship with Booking Tours 4. We told this guy that we want to go to the vessel for lunch and view but he told us that he was in a hurry because he had to assist other group, so he rushed us to the Aswan Damm and to Philae temple. Everything on the run, no meal, no time for anythingt, just running from place to place in empty stomachs. 5. Finally he joined us with his group proposing us to sail together in the falucas and continue to Nubios village. We accepted, but our surprise came when we had to pay him USD 75 for the excursion. Unbelievable 6. When we were dropped at the M/s Prince Omar we only wanted to cry. That boat is old, bad maintained, smelly, dirty and thousands of bad things more. I told the guide (Mohamed) that we couldn’t accept to stay in that boat since didn’t meet the requirements what we booked for. I requested him to call Booking Tours to change us to other boat but he did nothing, so I started communicating with Booking Tours but the response was nule. 7. I complained to the boat manager about the quality of the accommodation and he allocated us in a room with double-bed, but without space for our kids. I told him that we needed at least one more bed for our 15 years old kid and the solution given was to bring a chase-long from the swimming pool to accommodate him. We could't sleep The cabin was dirty, dirty linen and towels, leaks in the bathroom, small black worms in the floor, TV set not working. The smell and dust of the cabin was so terrible that my daughter got sick. With regards to the food there is only one adjective for it, inedible!!!! To sum up, we’d never have booked that boat and we’d have cancelled our cruise if we had known the look of M/s Prince Omar. Furthermore, the tour guide told us that the Tour Operator had change the vessel from Coral 2 to Prince Omar because Coral 2 was in Luxor. Another lie upon lie, since the Coral 2 was tied up in our same dock just three tiers ahead and we met it again before going through the canal. 8. 30th December, we only arrived to Kom Ombo with night light. Again, everything on the rush. That is supposed to have a function in the boat during the night, but we didn't. 9. 31st December. Early morning we visited Edfu, again running like headless chickens, to get back to the boat and sail to Luxor what we only reached by 10:30 pm. Night entertainment to celebrate the new year was scheduled, but never happened and that is not acceptable. No satisfactory response was given to my complaints. 11. On the 1st January, a different guide fetched us to show us Valley of the Kings, East Bank and Karnak. Everything in only 4 hours. Unbelievable. Finally, we requested her to accompany us to the airport terminal but she refused arguing that she was not allowed to go in. We feel completely cheated, paying for something with no value for the money paid. They decided unilaterally to change the boat without giving us a similar vessel in terms of quality or even a better one. They altered the schedule without any reason neither explanation. And they promised experiences that they didn't fulfil. This trip was insane and the worse experience in our lives.

    Deception
Too expensive and time consuming for being 3 hours in site. You are able to see just a small portion of Petra.as stated in the The tour withTrip advisor was more expensive than with other companies. Specially when we crossed customs. There is guy collecting money from travelers that bought the tour with different companies. He has a list and collects the visa and crossing fees. While most of the travelers paid $75 per person, I was charged $140 per person - I was amazed and very mad at Trip Advisor. I thought they were being fair, but it wasn't. The guy told me that different companies have different agreements. The worst part is the first stop for services - a tourist trap store just outside of Petra. Beautiful view, but NEVER BUY ANYTHING THERE. There are no prices on the products and they quote in jordanian currency. When you ask for the rate they tell you it is slightly higher than a Dollar. We chose to buy a small brass camel and a lamp - shoulf have cost 10-15 dollars in any market. they charged me $126.00. No way to complain, you will never be back in that store.

    Travelers Beware
TRAVELERS BEWARE. SAFETY CONCERNS AND COMMUNICATION ARE NON-EXISTENT WITH THIS COMPANY. I have been to over 60 countries and Booking Tours is the absolutely worst company I have ever traveled with. We hired Booking Tours, because as two women traveling in the Middle East, we were concerned about safety. They took us off a bus from Petra to Wadi Rum and handed us off to two men with no identification in a minivan (that broke down) in the middle of the desert. Fortunately we made it to the campsite, but are confident most women would feel very uncomfortable in this situation. The following day, we were left at the camp with no information about when we would be picked up or who would pick us up other than “transfer”. You might be thinking, “why didn’t you ask”? Of course we did! However, they did not provide any contact information for the drivers and we were told that they don’t use What’s App and they don’t monitor chat boards outside regular business hours. Our hotel tried to call the generic number for us, no answer. When they finally responded on the chat board, all they said was “it is on your itinerary”. No, it was not or we wouldn’t be asking. We purchased a flight upgrade to replace a 10 hr drive. The flight upgrade did not, in fact, get us to our destination any earlier. In fact, we drove over 3 hours (when there was an actual airport at the border) and sat at the airport for 5 1/2 hours as we watched flight after flight depart for Cairo. The flight upgrade bought us the cheapest flight out that night that got us to the hotel AFTER when the 10 hour drive would have arrived. They gave us the incorrect flight info on the itinerary, and when we asked them about it, they said it was correct. It was not. When we inquired about how this was an upgrade they said they did not say we would get there any sooner with the flight, which is true. However, most people would assume a flight upgrade would also mean an earlier arrival. When we arrived at our hotel in Egypt at 1:30am, there were no towels and no toilet paper and no plugs that would work to charge our devices. In this case they did move us to a different hotel, but only because we walked out and refused to go back. However, their response was that the pictures of the hotel online showed outlets. Seriously? And these are just a few of the issues we had with them. Time after time, they refused to acknowledge any problems with any of their reservations, itinerary, or inability to contact anyone for help. If you choose to book with them, I hope everything goes exactly as planned for you. Should you have a question, be sure you ask during business hours. If you use What’s App, just know they do not. If you run into any problems at all, know they WILL NOT believe you or acknowledge fault or wrong doing for anything and WILL NOT work with you to resolve any issues. Before we wrote this review, we have been going back and forth with them for 5 weeks to give them the opportunity to make this right. Their response? They did nothing wrong. Their customer service is truly the worst I have ever experienced. Booking tours is not available to help you. Booking Tours does not care about your experience. Booking Tours does not believe you when you have a concern. Booking Tours does not care about your SAFETY. *I could not find that exact tour we did on the drop down menu, but included Israel, Jordan and Egypt, June 2023

Great trip…but lots of time spent in bus. Guides were great and knowledgeable. Some hotels lacked 4 stars though. Took tour with AIT 4 years ago and some hotels have not been maintained, even had mold in one bathroom. Overall great trip.

    Amazing trip highly recommended
What a great experience! Wadi Rum was very scenic, camel ride at sunset was special and the dinner Buffett at Magic Rum was extra delish considering having to feed hundreds of people all at once!!! We took the Martian room for 2 and really enjoyed it. The next day at Petra was a trip to be remembered, lots of walking but sooooo worth it, the pathway to the Treasury and then that masterpiece, just fantastic❤️ Adnan our guide was knowledgeable friendly and kept us entertained, great job 👏 Shira & Manny Los Angeles

Stay away don't book this trip they don't honor your reservation!!!
Don't book this trip!!!! We booked this week's ago and I got a call from them 2 days ago, a week before we were going to say they couldn't fit us in. We paid about a month or longer ago and get the call while in Israel, in fact if we hadn't emailed them our Israeli phone number we would have gone and wasted our day. We booked for 9, they offered us 430, not possible on our tour. The woman said she didn't have our reservation until I read her the number. She blames TripAdvisor, I have used trip advisor before and never had an issue. No reviews for a reason... stay away, our day is ruined.

Amazing Petra, tour operator left us on the street! Avoid!
We book „one day tour to Petra“ from Aqaba, Jordan. Our hotel is close by car to the border of Israel, where the tour bus with a lot of tourists where coming from. A driver picked us up at the hotel an drove us to the border to get picked up from the tour guide with the bus. The whole tour was great, the guide was funny. Until we get back to the border to Aqaba. The tour guide told us that nobody knows how we get back to our hotel. No one there to pick us up from the border. Finally the bus driver took us in to the city. But was not happy about the little Detour. But then, without a comment he kicked us off on the street without getting us to the hotel. He didn’t speak English or didn’t want to speak or understand. He was very rude and unfriendly. Almost aggressive when we asked and bagged him to bring us to the hotel. End of story: we needed to walk over 2.2 km back to the hotel. It would be easy for him to drop us there. So I cannot recommend booking-Tours. The don’t fulfill there contracts and keep you safe. They take your money and kick you off the bus.

Great experience with some room for improvement
The tour organizer put the wrong gender when making flight reservations for me so I had great difficulty checking in at the airport at 6am in the morning. There was no one I could contact to figure out why the airline couldn't find my reservation, though fortunately we figured it out in the end. Petra is definitely worth seeing and overall we got a great experience there. However, the tour was not well designed so we only had limited time there. This can be avoid had we stay overnight in Petra the night before or leave early around am rather 9am for it in the morning. Although we did enjoy the overnight stay in tents at Wadi Rum, there was simply too much rush the next day. For those travelers who'd like to take their time to enjoy Petra, this isn't the best option. You may go for the 3-day tour with 2 overnight stays but personally I think it's a bit too much. It'd be great if the tour organizers redesign the 2-day tour to allow 2-3 more hours in Petra for those who have limited time for the attraction.

Good option if you only have 1 day
Comfortable and easy experience, great way to see Petra if you have only one day - if you have longer I would definitely recommend a two-day tour - there was so much to see. Communication could have been better, I was a bit confused about the flights/pickups/etc, but everything worked as planned. Guide and all drivers were great. Lunch was mediocre, as a vegetarian there weren't great options.

    Tourist Torture!
EXTREMELY POOR communication and scheduling. We were not told that it is MANDATORY to have a cell phone for this tour in order to make connections at the airports, borders, or tour agents in Egypt. The only way to access the room in the Israel hotel was thru a cell phone app! Also, we were not told there was NO DEDICATED tour guide with us thru out the entire tour. Every day there was a different tour guide which you had to meet up with, often not knowing even what time he would meet you. The only breakfasts we got were on the cruise ship and the one day at the Wadi Rum camp, otherwise, every single day we got a very, very poor breakfast box. The scheduling was a nightmare. The breakfast at the Tel Aviv hotel started at 7:30 but the tours picked us up at 6:40 every morning! The transfer from Jordan to Egypt was awful. From the Jordan - Israel border we went thru Eilat, then thru the Israel - Egypt border, then a 3 hour drive to the hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh. It was almost midnight before we got to our room and we had to get up at 4:00 for the flight to Cairo!! This should have been more specific in our itinerary. Also, NO ONE on the Nile cruise ship spoke good English, not even the ship front desk manager. Also, the ship had no knowledge of our tours or the tour guides each day. NO COMMUNICATION between the ship, the tour guides, and the tourists. I would not recommend this tour by Booking Tours to anyone. This tour was misrepresented in every way. NO WAY is it a Luxury tour.

We had a wonderful experience with Aqua Star scuba diving my in Eilat. The staff was fantastic! Besides everyone else, the two divers, Lev and Dima were absolutely outstanding! Their patience and expertise were fabulous!

We had to cancel it when Israel implemented its covid-19 travel policy. Sadly the tour company would not refund any of the cost, and when I asked them if they would credit me the cost and allow me to rebook for 12 months from now (when my Israeli tour has been rebooked), they stated that they can't rebook that far ahead. It cost me $500 for the day trip for my husband and myself.

This was the only tour I found that could get us across the border from Eilat to Petra. For a full day, the price isn’t bad. However, plan on doubling this price because you will pay - in cash - another $135 (if my memory serves me correctly) to a “random man” at the border crossing.
They were 45 minutes late picking us up from our hotel, but ignoring the high tariff to cross, they made the movement to Petra pretty hassle-free.
Petra is beautiful but we only had about 3 hours to explore it- didn’t make it more than 1/3 of the way through. Our guide was very knowledgeable but we would’ve preferred more time exploring more of the city. The guide did give us 15 minutes at the start and 40 at the end to explore on our own (plenty of time to pay a Bedouin kid to take you to the top of the cliff facing the treasury *** if you are relatively fit***).
All in all, we paid (a lot) for convenience because we could sleep in the car and didn’t have to bring out money for lunch. Wadi Rum would have been a fun place to stop in rather than just drive by but we did have a time crunch for crossing the border coming back to Israel.
I already recommended this tour to a friend but it’s because other options (from Israel) are rare.
Very informative tour but very expensive and not a ton of time in Petra itself.

Thank you for your review. We do our best to provide our clients with the best experience. The Extra payment is for Visa and border tax that is a requirement of the Jordanian and Israeli. It is paid to our representative or to the guide ‘not a random man”, All in all, I am glad that you had a good impression of the tour and the Petra Site. Thank you

You don't expect the same customer service what you receive in Europe because it is not Europe. You are fully aware of it.

You walk through the boarder in the morning (they provide you a transfer there) and wait in the Jordan side until everyone arrives. You have an about 2,5 hours ride to Petra with a stop on the way with toilets. In the store you have to bargain for the prices, the good news is that they accept many currencies the bad is that if you do not watch you will be tricked immediately.

Be aware that you are on the same bus, tour and agenda with the others who all pays different prices for this tour. Ideally the visa cost 80USD and the boarder fee is 80USD. Different companies play a bit around with it but alternatively the sum should be the same. The tour itself starts from 150USD and goes up to.... On my bus we had a goup of 13-14 people and a couple paid for the whole trip 300USD, myself 340USD, another couple 360USD and some paid close to 400USD. Again, for the same service.

The tour guide has had a good knowledge of history with a spicy humour. When we arrive to Petra we had 3 hours all together there. We walked through the gorge and it was min 1.5 hours by the time we got to the colonnaded street. it takes about an hour to walk back to the starting point from there, so we had about half an hour to walk (run) a bit around. Beside walking and enjoying our walk into the gorge we had to deal with the sence of humour our tour guide had. Such as "I'm going to sacrifice someone, if you know what I mean" - well, the meaning of this sentence was, that we had an elderly couple who weren't able to walk/rush the same way as the guide was expecting it, and he made his comment every each of the time he did not like something. It must be a culture thing but won't last for long with European customers for sure.

We had to run back to the meeting point because otherwise we had to find the restaurant by ourselves... we were told that noone will wait for us.

The food in the restaurant was a really great buffet late lunch with a fascinating view.

On our way back we had another stop with toilet facilities, same concept as before, same style, bargaining and currency exchanges.

Moreover, our agenda stated that we have a stop on our way back in Aqaba, the last city in Jordan before you reach the boarder. In the morning we were told that we did it if we had time. At the end we had a night bus tour with some historical comments and we got back to the boarder an hour earlier and by the time we crossed the boarder again on foot we arrived 30-45 mins in prior.

I would only recommened this tour if you only have one extra day in Eilat because from there is closer enough than from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, and you won't have other opportunities to visit this magical place for 3 hours, but for the money and the service we got I would not recommened a day trip.

There must be another way to visit Petra without this huge rip off.

Thank you for your response. I am very sorry that you thought the tour was not worth the money. I will explain to you the actual costs if you had not taken a tour with us. The border tax is about the same, The taxi from your hotel to the border and back is about $40. The taxi to Petra is about $75 each way. The entrance fee per person to Petra is $130. Lunch another $10, and the guide $150. So, you would pay approximately $405 per person not including the visa, that is required for all travelers now. But we are Happy to hear that you had enjoyed most part of the Tour. Thank you for your review and again I am sorry for any inconvenience.

DAY TRIP TO PETRA:
It is worth visiting from Eilat, if you are a fan of Petra you can have other options to sleep there and 2 days would be enough. Have in mind that the day trip covers part of the attractions and you won't have time to see the Monastery.

BOOKING-TOUR:
I think they a travel operator hiring other companies to do the service. So, don't expect that you wake a connection with someone. Their pre sales attendants are very good. The other services should be improved.

ISRAELI SIDE:
We didn't receive previously the driver's info, name, car plate or phone. One guy picked us up at the hotel a little late and took us to the Israeli border, it was only 15 minutes away. It was fast and easy. No big deal, the border offices are serious and efficient, you could do it without anyone.

JORDAN BORDER:
After finishing the Israeli border procedures, we walked to the Jordan border. There were another guide was waiting in the other side, he was from a Jordanian tour company receiving people from different Israeli tour companies. Having someone from the other side was very helpful entering a and exiting Jordan.

THE GUIDE:
The guide was the worst. He was sarcastic and, sometimes, impolite with the people there. I felt very sorry, specially for the older couple from Canada, who travelled the entire night and were disrespected a few times from this guide.

He complained about our arrival time to the border, like it was our choice. Also said that the people from Eilat were in fancy hotels, having nice breakfast while the others were there waiting at the border. We never chose the time, it was a travel agency schedule, not ours.

TRIP TO PETRA:
So, we did a good and safe trip. Petra us amazing and worth visiting. But, the price we paid was very high and we expected a better service from the company. We only had 3 hours there, we could have started earlier and having at least 4 to 5 hours there and go until the Monastery. It could be better if we left earlier and had more time there, I saw here that it is a common complaint from others too.

Choosing the right operator to visit Petra from Eilat is not easy. And I don‘t have a solution for you, I can just say that I would not repeat the choice I have made this time.

One part of the choice is the daytrip from Eilat. Choosing that setup means putting the entire experience under time-pressure from the get-go. Petra is too spectacular to be handled in that manner.

The other part is the company. They only way it really matters is in the way you get carried from your place to the border. The car in question did only have place to sit in one seat in the car because everything else was taken by other stuff.

And in price, which I haven’t explored further.

After passing the border, you get bundled together with various other groups (1 day, 2 days) from various companies and rushed through the day. You spend 1h in a shopping place in the middle of nowhere with people trying to get you to buy various types of overpriced knickknacks.

Then you arrive in Petra, always reminded that you’re on a tight schedule. Our guide was a 60+ yo guy (Ali, who made a magnificent effort with a group consisting mostly of Russian-speakers who accidentally booked an English tour) walking an astonishing pace, hard to follow (I did the Masada snake path in 26 minutes the day after).

I appreciate the difficulty to get that job done in a day, but i do believe it should be possible in a more customer-focused way in one day.

But anyway, I would go for a two-day trip or even sacrifice a whole week of I could do it again.

Hello, Carsten, you chose a group tour and not a private tour. next time we recommend taking the private tour so you will have enough time to explore. Thank you for the review.

Petra is a great place to visit and it’s definitely a change of scenery after several days of visit in Israel !
I think the tour company is ok, but advice for people who are signing up for this tour I would suggest and be aware of the following :
- see if the tour operator confirm your Trip beforehand, if not advice to contact them to confirm the trip
- Hotel pickup can be late since they will be collecting passengers from various hotel, the guide collect us at around 9:05am
- you will be combining with several other groups of tour when you reach the border, some of them are staying overnight
- inside the Jordan Israel border control will be chaotic, hopefully the tour guides will inform future passengers “clearer” on how to cross the Israel - Jordan border; ie: “where and who” to pay the border and visa tax - they have been doing this tour for a while now I they should enhance the efficiency. At least 2.5 hrs were used just to cross the border, and half an hour wasted just to find the guide

- Bring a bottle of water / light snacks ; there will be a stop on the way to Petra after crossing the border, the stuff there can be expensive.

- Inside Petra if you want to explore more; you can go with the guide; or do a research and get deep inside the structure for locations your want to see. We only have 2.5hrs inside Petra and couldn’t get into some structures

- if I could choose I would skip the meal option entirely for more time in Petra. The meal time we had is around 4:30 pm, after visit to Petra so make sure you have a big breakfast in the morning

- for some reason, the time taken back to Israel after sunset is longer (if in winter); and our trip ends at crossing the border back at 8pm; expect transport back to hotel around 9pm

My wife and I bought this tour to Petra from Eilat this week. We were taken to Petra by car and fed along the road. Petra is truly one of the wonders of the world! My wife and I are very pleased with the tour and recommend it.

Went with a tour company booked from my hotel. About 15 of us, the guide was informative an accommodating. Lunch was tasty and filling. Stops on the way to the site we’re appropriate, be prepared to be harassed at the stops though, although it’s probably for a good cause, the toilets are a lot to be desired
