It was a great experience with Fat Taxi. They have a manager Sinan who can handle everything whenever you need a help in Istanbul. Short distance trips is a trouble with yellow taxis. Our hotel in Sultanahmet offered a "shuttle" service for €70 so I looked for an alternative and booked Istanbul Shuttle Port at about £30 and this was fine. However while planning our return to the airport I wanted to see if I could improve on this and had read that public transport for this journey was not really practicable. I thought I'd give it a chance though and took aT1 tram from the Sultanahmet stop to the Aksaray stop followed by a three minute level walk to the clearly sig-posted HVIST-12 coach stop. The fare direct to the departures building was 204 Turkish lira (i.e. £4.50) each and our suitcase was loaded and unloaded for us. The journey was very comfortable and, in fact, quicker than the taxi. I had used one of the last fares left on my red card (i.e. 50p) for the tram but it would still have been worth a couple who didn't already have cards buying one between them for this one trip. The T1 route starts at Kabatas so this solution would also work for those staying across the Golden Horn in Beyoglu.

Very correct instructions to find the collection point at gate 14 ( PS there is a bank of ATMS at that door … Zadaat didn’t charge me a fee for using it..others did some didn’t - just make sure you do NOT accept any banks offer of a conversion fee at 8%! Standard is 3%). It was a little hard getting attention of the PLUS person, just stand in front of the board and keep saying PLUS out loud - maybe they just thought I was with a man standing next to me? Anyway once established I was with Fat taxi it was easy follow them to the mega car park with a bunch of others and we all got our cars. Big vans with the plush seats and water bottle and fun roof lights. A nice drive in. After that I just what’s app the manager SINAN for my various requests at cheaper prices but always good to have access to a trip advisor review at the end just in case. Anyway , excellent reliable good cars seems a good price to me for a long 35-40 min drive in not busy time ( probably more if you in old town I was ion Bosphorus). I’ve already recommended to friends going in a few weeks

Everything seemed fine. We received confirmation of booking prior to our trip and the location to find our drivers upon arrival. There was no driver and no communication of why through email or phone. Luckily we met some very helpful people at the airport, a security guard and a taxi driver (who we ended up hiring to drive us to our hotel) that both used there own phones to call the number we had for the company. Both attempts went straight to voicemail. We come to find out the company was likely closed due to religious holiday. This was never communicated to us at booking or otherwise that they were closed, but they did charge the credit card when I booked. Save some time and money and take a taxi, or at least take out some question marks and hire a different company.

Please make sure you have Internet access after you have landed as they contact you by WhatsApp. After your booking is made make contact with them. They will guide you to the meeting point outside. Do not expect anyone to be standing there with a plaquered with your name on. The two drivers we had didn't speak much English. Overall, good service
