I was slightly wary of booking this as it was quite expensive, however, I thought that it was well worth the money.
Eve, was a very knowledgeable guide who is studying for a masters in the history of Istanbul. She was very engaging, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the subject matter. It was just the three of us on the tour.
We toured sites in the basements of hotels and shops that we would never otherwise have found and a mosaic museum that, again, I don't think we would have found without the tour. We had very detailed conversations around the subject of Rome and the history of Istanbul and went off on many tangents. Eve was happy that we had conversations rather than just lecturing us.
I would recommend the tour to those who love history. The tour is 4 hours long and so your teens have to be quite committed. I recommend Ece as a guide; she really engaged with the boys (noticed that the youngest was struggling) and really knew her stuff. We all enjoyed our morning and learned a lot.

Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable... a true queen! Her sister is an archaeologist, and I'm sure she would be proud of this tour, as it clearly runs in the family. Thousands of years of history covered across several empires.

This is a very good tour to gain an understanding of the Byzantine/Roman history of the city and to gain an orientation and overview of the main sites of the old part of the City. Our guide, Ece, was excellent, very knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiastic about the history of Istanbul and she made it a really enjoyable and worthwhile tour. By the end of tour it was like being guided by an old friend and we certainly felt we had learnt a lot about the history of Istanbul and also a little bit about Turkish Society as well. The tour included visits to lots of Byzantine/Roman remains in various cellars and basements, including viewing some great mosaics. Some of which you would not normally find yourself without a local guide The highlight of the tour were the Byzantine cisterns that we visited. The tour was quite flexible and well paced, Ece did her very best gear the tour to our particular interests, giving us plenty of time at each site to take photos, as well as breaks in a café for coffee and lunch in a local restaurant. Would highly recommend this tour as something a little different from the other walking tours of the old City.

Selcuk Ephesus Tour was an excellent way to go for older adults! We had a great tour guide who really took care of his customers. Our group enjoyed one another and the tour even included an excellent lunch before going on . It was hot but we didn't have to do a lot of climbing and the distance walked was just right. The ruins were unimaginable...a walk into time long ago. The guide gave us historic information that made the ruins reflect the time and understanding of how they lived. Selcuk, where we stayed, was a wonderful moderate city, and staying close to the center of the city square made it enchanting. We stayed at the Selena Hotel which even offered breakfast in the morning and was totally affordable. People were friendly everywhere we went.

Not quite what we were expecting, but Ece was fantastic. She showed us a few places that made the trip and her knowledge of history and passion for the city was second to none. She even helped us into the Ayasofya at the end, which wasn't on the itinerary.

I've been coming to Istanbul for some 40 years and took the history for granted as I'm not one for spending hours looking at every artefact.
But this tour was an eye opener, explaining the back story of this amazing city's history.

Ece was a greatly knowledgeable and personable guide. She laughed a lot. My teenager really enjoyed her while listening to all the history. It was fun going to shops and hotels to see Roman foundations and mosaics. We loved the panoramic view at seven hills where we stopped for coffee. The cistern with the art exhbit was a special treat. .

We did this tour on March 2019, me and my wife. Our guide was Ece. She is an excellent guide, though her job was helped by the subject, fascinating Istanbul. If you are interested in history, you want to do this tour, with Ece.

It was a blind shot if this trip could be good as there very little information.
My daughter and I was happily surprised by our guide that had a kind personality, great knowledge about history and a good sense of humor.
Highly recommended if history has your interest.
