About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- kftse880 contributionsGreat experience!I was really impressed with how well organized and how fast this company put together an itinerary. I contacted them last minute and they were still able to accommodate me. Not only the guide spoke english but the driver did so I never felt lost. Unfortunately certain tours have the mandatory 'carpet tour'. I did feel a bit rushed and did not get enough time at the site that I wanted to. Despite these, I definitely would consider some of the other packages that they offer since they are so well organized.Written September 18, 2024
- kerriek_990 contributionsBurak is the bestThe trip of a life time to see this place and the tour did not disappoint. Burak was a fabulous guide. Engaging, humorous and affable. highly recommend you allow another day for self exploration but if you only have one day this will give you alot!Written September 18, 2024
- hild210 contributionsIstanbul to Troy and PergammonBrilliantly organised customised private tour set up on request by Crowded House, and excellently delivered by Singe, Ibrahim & Mr Sinan. Travel from Istanbul was seamless, the guided visit around Troy was essential for understanding a fascinating and complex site, and around Pergammon helped bring these beautiful ruins to life.Written September 17, 2024
- miguelrG8846KP0 contributionsHighly recommend the Gallipoli tourI went on the Gallipoli and had Burak as my guide. He was enthusiastic, extremely knowledgable, and even added a little comedy to the experience. The weather and the locations they picked were perfect and gave a complete history of the Gallipoli campaign. There was still evidence of the brushfire but most of the area is well preserved. I even got to go into a World War 1 trench.Written August 25, 2024
- DayTrip617247213080 contributionsDeeply moving. Felt like time travel. Bura khan is amazing.Bura Khan made it supremely memorable. He’s knowledgable & no nonsense. His effortless friendliness, warmth & depth made the City of Troy visit a trip to cherish for a lifetime. Highly recommended.Written August 24, 2024
- pruc3630 contributionsAwesome! We booked this trip from Australia for myself and my 2 adult children. We were so impressed - door to door pick up and return from our accommodation, both guides were exceptional in their knowledge. The only criticism I can find is that one spoke quite quickly, and at times we had trouble keeping up with his information because he knew so much! I was assisted to find a family member, and I appreciated that😊 The accommodation was clean and satisfactory, and Sam escorted us both ways on the ferry to ensure we didn’t get lost! I’d recommend this to anyone wanting a tour of Gallipoli and Troy!Written August 14, 2024

- petersP8206MD0 contributionsGreat history tour of Gallipoli with knowledgeable guides and well organised companyReally good guide who spoke good English and engaged with all the guests, particularly the Aussies and Kiwis. The emphasis was on the military history and why the different sides did what they did. It felt like I visited all the important places on the Gallipoli Peninsula and certainly all the places I had heard of over many years.Written August 8, 2024
- TheHostelMom0 contributionsAll of the stars for this tour...the guides are the bestI recently took a day trip to Gallipoli from Çanakkale, and it was an experience I'll never forget. Our guide, Charlie, was simply outstanding. As one of the most astute and knowledgeable historians I've encountered, he brought the history of Çanakkale and the Gallipoli Campaign to life in a way that was both engaging and insightful. Charlie’s wit, humor, and kindness added a special touch to the tour, making the complex history of the area accessible and interesting. I’ve traveled to over 30 countries, and this tour ranks at the very top. I knew very little about the Gallipoli Campaign before this trip, but I walked away with a deep understanding and appreciation, all thanks to Charlie. This was the best tour I have ever taken, and I am truly grateful to Charlie for making it so memorable. Highly recommended!Written August 7, 2024
- JKHiti0 contributionsVery professionalOur family did four tours (Gallipoli, Troy, Pergamon and Pamukkale) with Crowded House. We started in Istanbul and finished in Selçuk. Transfers and visit were all planned very efficiently by Ramazan with whom I always exchanged in English and mostly by email. Drivers were kind and always on time. Most of all, the guides knew their topics very well and gave life to all the historical places we visited. Huge thanks to Bulant for all his explanations on Gallipoli, to Burak for his fantastic tour of Troy, to Ahmet for guiding us in Pergamon and to Meat for his visit of Herapolis/Pamukkale. A huge thank-you too to Ramazan for his professionalism. We highly recommend Crowded House.Written August 6, 2024
- Venture529499448030 contributionsEverything was perfectCrowded House Tours did a very good job organising this for me. Pick-up was just on time, and the driver was very welcoming and entertaining. He also got us everywhere safely. The Gallipoli Tour was first, and it was amazing. The tour guide (I'm sorry, I do not remember names) was a local from Çanakkale and knew quite a lot about the Gallipoli campaign (more than what us Aussies are taught 😅). He was also very entertaining and was able to lighten the mood when needed. He also knew quite a lot of aussie slang, which got a lot of laughs. He was also very happy to answer any extra questions anyone had and offered to help find any relatives that may have passed in the campaign. After the Gallipoli Tour, I was taken by another guide on a ferry across the Dardanelles towards Çanakkale. I was then shown to my accomodation which was very nice, although due to the location it was quite loud at night (it sits right above the bars) so if you're a light sleeper maybe let them know. The next day, I was driven to the Troy museum, and again, the driver was very friendly and helpful. I was given plenty of time to visit the museum before I needed to be picked up by the rest of the group to go to the archaeological site. Again, the tour guide was knowledgeable and helpful and entertaining, too. After the tour, we were taken back to Çanakkale to take the ferry back across the Dardanelles and were allocated into buses to head back to Istanbul. Overall , I had a great experience and would definitely book with Crowded House Tours again. The only thing I might add as a bit of info for anyone doing these tours on a tight schedule, the drive back to Istanbul was delayed by about 1-1.5 hours due to heavy peak hour traffic.Written August 5, 2024
- 914garethi0 contributionsFantastic!Tour guide (Mr sukru) was intelligent,we'll spoken,we'll learned and patient guide. He answered all questions with impressive depth and made certain I had an unforgettable day visiting the Ruins of Troy.10/10.Written August 5, 2024
- sarah o0 contributionsBest tour!!!We went on a few Crowded House tours during our trip to Türkiye and I couldn’t recommend them more! We had Burak as our guide for the Gallipoli tour, who was super fun and engaging, but also extremely knowledgeable about the topic. Even though it was a difficult topic, Burak still made the tour very memorable and light-hearted which was great. He was also very passionate about helping those in the tour who had family in Gallipoli, which the group all really appreciated. For our tour of Troy and Pergamon, we had Çağri, who was very welcoming and knew so much about the history of the area. We really enjoyed our day tour with Çağri, as he was easy to talk to and made sure the tour went well. The last tour we had was for Ephesus with Mert, who again was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He went out of his way to make sure everyone was happy with the tour. What we really loved was the enthusiasm of all three guides. Even though they’ve done the same tours for years, they still seemed very engaged and interested in sharing the history and beauty of the country with us. It was very appreciated, and we got a lot of out of our tour with these guides. I’d definitely recommend giving these tours a go! Very well planned and the guides are all fantastic.Written August 3, 2024
- clevernose0 contributionsVery knowledgeable and interesting tour guideOur guide for both days had 15 years experience as a Gallipoli & Troy guide. Being Turkish, he was able to give us a Turkish perspective on the Gallipoli campaign which we had not heard before. Gives you an even greater understanding of the sacrifice made by both sides.Written August 1, 2024
- Ashlee B0 contributionsGreat tour guideHad a great tour of Gallipoli by a guide who spoke good English. Guide had incredible knowledge of the War and Battles and told it all very well from a neutral perspective. Good day trip to see the ANZAC and Turkey sites. Seamless pick up/ferry. Lunch is severed very early in day and wasn’t very good. Tour company provide good tours! We used Crowded House Tours multiple times through our trip in Turkey with no problems.Written July 31, 2024

I joined this tour in September after having the pemukali/Ephesus the day before with the same company.
This company seems to be a cut above the rest. With Hasan as my guide in Gallipoli and Ozzy as my guide in Ephesus I had two fantastic tours.
In Gallipoli the guide was a subject matter expert, the tour was paced and delivered well in perfect English. I was picked up from my hotel in a comfortable mini bus, it was a small group size, and the guides tried to keep us ahead of the crowds.
Hasan also helped a few of the Australians on the tour to locate their family members in the cemetery.
After having done a few tours with other companies in turkey I really think this company stands out and I would really recommend.

I was able to go on this tour recently with Crowded Tours and it was good. I did the tour from Istanbul and after a long transit to Canakkale, the tour commenced with Burak at Gallipoli. Burak was an excellent guide, who knew the topic at hand and also was very engaging. A bit of a hippy vibe with loads of tattoos, he kept the spirit of the group high throughout. There was lunch included upon arrival at Ecebat and we had an hour off for it. This was before the tour commenced.
This tour is really meant for people who have a vested interest in Gallipoli (mostly ANZACs) and not for the casually curious. I say this because of the long transit times (5HRs x 2) from Istanbul and also for the perspective of the battle's impact on the countries involved in it. If at all possible, I would recommend to do the tour version which covers Troy + Gallipoli with stayover at Troy option. This is a better one and you also get to see Troy in the night light. That option is a 2-day tour with pick-up and drop-off option to Istanbul.
Ms. Funda was very good at communicating and looking after my requirements. More than the tour itself, I enjoyed the time with Mr & Mrs George, Eliza and Peter. I thank them for their company and good time we had. I highly appreciate this tour.

We had a private car to Troy & Gallipoli on ANZAC Day 2023. Our driver was Omer who was prompt, courteous and we felt extremely safe in his luxurious Maybach. We picked up our guide, Burak who was friendly, funny and extremely informative. I would totally recommend touring through this company to anybody wanting professional service with a big smile 😃

Really excellent. Perfectly punctual on pick up and communication was excellent as to locations and details. It is a long day however and you should absolutely prepare to be home between 9 pm and 10 pm as opposed to 6 pm. Apart from that it was a very relaxed day with plenty of food and drink, with Driver taking you to a small town outside of the memorials and then a guide jump on the bus with you. The trip is every bit of four hours and they do stop on the way for breakfast and on the way home for dinner for around 45 minutes each way …. The buses are excellent condition almost new Benz and they can get into places that the larger tours cannot . The Guide was very informed and extremely open to conversation. His views appeared to be very neutral and in fact I learnt a lot more about the conflict than I would ever imagined. Overall and exceptional experience but definitely pack an umbrella if it even looks like raining as you spend a lot of time outside and if it does rain You should absolutely assume your shoes are going to get muddy. You don’t need any cash necessarily although The Driver and guide was appreciated a modest tip.
If I was with a lady. I would recommend bringing some tissues or the like as some of the bathroom stop public services only and may not supply tissue .
It was plenty of time to absorb each the locations and if I was an Australian or New Zealand looking for a day trip this would definitely be on my list.

Last week we went on a tour to Gallipoli, organised through Crowded House Tours and taken by a guide called Burak. He was fantastic. He is so well informed and so friendly. We both thoroughly enjoyed the day. Burak took us to all the main beach sites in the area where the Anzacs landed, explaining in detail what happened at each place. Then we went inland to Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair. We visited the memorials and cemeteries for both the Anzacs and the Turks. Burak had maps, diary excerpts and photographs to share with us. It was both fascinating and enlightening. It was a long day but we were picked up and dropped off afterwards at our hotel in Istanbul and lunch was included. I would like to say a personal thank you to Burak for making this an experience I will always remember. Thoroughly recommended.

What an amazing tour! We were picked up on time from our hotel in Istanbul in a lovely air conditioned minibus with some well timed rest stops along the way, do keep in mind it is a long journey but well worth it.
Burak our tour guide was beyond incredible! His knowledge was outstanding and he educated us on what really happened during the war. He was so personable and really made the day so special by answering all our questions and giving us such well informed information whilst also cracking a few jokes along the way.
The drivers were great from both our transfers and around the memorial areas.
This was such an important experience as Australians and we 100% recommend this Crowded House Tour to all Australians and New Zealanders visiting Istanbul who are happy to make the journey to learn about the history of the war.
Thank you to Crowded House and their staff for really making our day so fantastic.

The Good:
On time pick up from our hotel.
Visited most of the significant historical sites of interest.
The NOT so good:
The provided lunch.
The biased commentary of the tour guide (very pro Turkey)
Tour guide spent too long talking about each site (see previous comment) and then only allowed minimal time for visitors to explore and reflect, take photos, visit memorials, grave sites etc. (group was mostly Aussies & Kiwis)
The very fast driving to and from Gallipoli, most of the time at 140kph
Seat belt not working, driver said they know but don't have time to fix it.
Conclusion:
What was supposed to be a once in a lifetime ANZAC experience for us, honoring our troops and the events of that time was minimized by the tour guide we had on the day, which was terribly disappointing, a view shared with us by the other Aussies and Kiwis on the same tour on the day.

Dear Happy Panda
Thank you for your kind review. We are sorry about your UNHAPPY experience. Most of the travellers leave the restaurant by thanking the staff after the lunch. But we have also travellers who do not like the provided lunch. We started to think the problem is about the kind of the food travellers are used to have in their daily lives.
We tried to contact you in person to learn your real name and track the date of the tour you joined but could not get any reply from you. All of our guides inform the travellers about the events of 1915 both from the ANZAC and Turkish perspective. Most of the people look for different perspectives becuase we all learn the history at our schools from the perspective of the country we belong to. That is why our guides try to explain from both sides.
They give free time for 10 to 15 mins depending on the memorial or the cemetery after giving the information. Because this is a group tour we have a schedule to follow but we never maket he travelelrs rush unless the traveller is not still around after the set free time. We recommend private option of our tours for those who want to spend longer time at the sights.
We are sorry to hear that you are dissapointed at the conclusion. I guess you only wanted to hear about the Aliied perspective and hearing the story from both of the perspectives effected you negatively and made you to put on this review mostly about our guide.

We contacted Crowded House Tours after reading good reviews online. Ramazan was very helpful and assisted us with organising a private day trip to Gallipoli (from Istanbul). The price was very competitive and the day operated seamlessly. The drivers were great and the whole team at the head office (in Eceabat) were very friendly.
Our tour guide for Gallipoli, Bülent, met us after our included lunch (around 12.20pm). He is incredibly knowledgeable about all things Gallipoli and ensured that we had an excellent day. I was able to locate the name of a relative at the Lone Pine Memorial and we also had plenty of time at the 9 different locations we visited around the peninsula.
I am very glad that we went with Bülent as it was a far better experience than if we had self-guided. It was an incredibly interesting day and well worth it!
Would highly recommend a private tour with Crowded House Tours. If we had more time in Turkey we would have definitely used them again to explore further.

It's a long day on the bus but we had an excellent trip. Small bus only 16 seats so it was quite friendly and easy to get on and off. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a balanced, emotive telling of the story. We stopped at about 12 places with time at each place to look around and get some feel for what happened there.
Every Australian or Kiwi should do this trip.

We are currently on a 12 day crowded house tour which has been outstanding so far but today visiting Galipoli was exceptional. The tour guide Burak was able to gain information regarding my grandfather who faught at Galipoli and was injured. The entire family are so appreciative to get the history, photos and a copy of a letter sent on his behalf. Talk about going above and beyond! He included everyone in the bus, had a great sense of humor, we are overwhelmed at such an incredible outcome! Thankyou so much! Helen

What time to return back to siltanahmet area?
Written November 10, 2023
We returned to Sultanahmet at about 10 pm from our Crowded House Tours one-day tour to Gallipoli. However, the bus has to drop off people in various locations so you might be lucky and be one of the first or unlucky and be one of the last. The tour was very worthwhile and run by professionals.

Hi, we are interested in doing the one Day Gallipoli tour in late August (probably 29 or 30th). I see it is a very long day. What do we do for breakfast and dinner (see that only lunch is provided)? Will there be an opportunity to stop for food elsewhere? Thanks, Jane (NZ)
