I visited the Fann Mountains with Paramount Journey in early October for a four-day trek (starting and finishing in Dushanbe). It was my first visit to Tajikistan. Paramount Journey were outstanding from start to finish. Alovaddin was extremely quick to respond and to customise a trip for me, and our guide Humayan was excellent company: engaging, patient and a brilliant source of information on all things Tajik. The trek was challenging, but the views, the campsites, the company and the sheer beauty of the mountains made it amply worth it. Thank you again, and I hope to be able to return one day!

We spent 6 amazing days in Tajikistan and our trip was one unforgettable experience thanks to Paramount journey. They made us feel like kings during our stay - providing the best possible service. From easy payment to well organized tour everything went perfect. Thanks to the knowledge of their guide we learned a lot about Tajik culture and we visited amazing places. I would recommend it to everyone!

We had a fantastic time on our trip to Tajikistan with Paramount. From the beginning, we worked closely with Alovaddin to plan a custom trip. He offered lots of great advice and was very patient and flexible when our group size changed. He also patiently answered our many, many questions.
Once we arrived, everything went smoothly. Our guide - Yun - was so friendly and knowledgeable and genuinely fun to be around. Tajikistan is no easy country to travel around, but Paramount made it as seamless and comfortable as possible and made it easy for us to explore this beautiful country. I hope to return and do another trip to the pamir highway with these guys one day. I wouldn't hesitate to use them or recommend them to anyone!

We took a 7 day tour to Tajikistan taking in Dushanbe and trekking in the Fann Mountains. The mountain scenery was breathtaking and the tour was very professionally arranged. Our Guide spoke perfect English and was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We certainly learned a lot about Tajikistan.
A terrific crew took care of the camping arrangements and the trek was carefully thought out and allowed us to acclimatise to the change in altitude. All together an excellent trip and we thoroughly recommend Paramount Journey.

We are lucky to have Mr Alovaddin Kalonov as our guide. We are honored. He is the founder of an established adventure company, Paramount Journey, that specializes in Tajikistan. While you may be able to locate local guides, but getting one who is able to speak English is not easy.
As this is the first family trek that Paramount Journey undertakes, Alovaddin makes it a point to ensure that we are well taken care of especially with 2 young boys aged 9 & 10.The trek is in the Fann Mountain region that will take us across the 3860m Alauddin Pass. It took place in early June 2017.
Alovaddin is a seasoned guide and he is very observant and sensitive to the needs of my family. He is also flexible to adjust our itinerary according to our condition. This is reflected in adjusting some of our food when he noticed that we are not adapting to the local food and delayed our trekking schedule when I was taken ill during our trip. He came well prepared with a well stock medical kit.
We gained a great understanding of Tajikistan thanks to the knowledge shared by Alovaddin. We learned about the country's rich history from Alexander the Great conquest, Marco Polo venture, Soviet era to the geographical setup of the nation.
As this is the first above 3000m trek for our boys, we were trekking at different pace as we hit higher altitude. We had a couple of donkeys in our contingent and are pleasantly surprised that a spare donkey came handy when my younger boy experienced diarrhoe in our approach to the 3860m pass. My elder boy hit mild altitude sickness and Alovaddin is experienced enough to show us easier uncharted path to the pass rather than the more difficult well-trodden path where the soil is loose and makes it much harder to bring each step forward.
The terrain, landscape, flora and fauna of the Fann Mountain is truly magnificent! The ruggedness of this country is AMAZING!
We missed Chinese food badly and our guide threw us a surprise in Khujand, the 2nd largest city in Tajikistan, by arranging our dinner in an authentic Chinese restaurant. Kudos to Alovaddin. We were invited to Alovaddin's house in Khujand and get to taste the organic honey apricot and cherry from his orchard. We received a very warm welcome from his family and learned about local Tajik lifestyle. Although it is the muslim fasting month, Alovaddin's family still prepared a sumptuous tea reception
The departure was not easy as we developed a deep bond with Alovaddin who has taken care of us very well. The boys certainly missed him.
We would not hesitate to recommend Paramount Journey for family treks in Tajikistan, you will be in good hands!

My husband and me just came back from Tajikistan, we hired paramount journey to orginize for us a trek in the fann mountains and this was a great success! We wanted to reach to chimtarga pass and Alovaddin recommended us a beautiful route which passes in bibijanat lake,alouddin lake,mutnoe lake, chimtarga pass, big alo lake and zindon gorge.Our guide, a young man named Humoyon,took us safely in this amazing and challenging route, he knew the route perfectly and treated us as his guests.Masut, our cook, made tasty and healthy meals and all the team were kind and helpfull!Before we got out to the trek we teaveled to Iskanderkul lake, Sarytag villige and stayed in a lovely homestay at Artuch villige.In addition Humoyun took us to a nice tour in Dushanbe wich included museums, historical sites and restaurants.We highly reccomend paramount journey, this is a reliable company and Humoyun is a skilled guide that you can trust 100% .We wish Alovaddin all the best and thanks for everything!

We had a fantastic, well organised 3 night trek through the Fann Mountains.
Yun and the team were fantastic! I cannot fault them. They really cared about us, and made us feel very welcome. The food was delicious, and always plentiful. Yun certainly knows his way around the mountains, and provided us with entertainment along the way.

This must be one of the few pristine trek left in the world. It is very rough but the sights were amazing. The water in the lakes are crystal clear, creating beautiful different shades of blue when the sunlight shine on them.
Shari and his team from Paramount Journey were great. They are friendly, always making sure that our needs are met. They are always cheerful and had made this difficult trek easier for us. Thank you Shari and team.
The Tajikistan people are very friendly. Never once I felt unsafe in the country, except when I was leaving through airport immigration when a customs officer singled me out and asked me to surrender all my USD. I refused and was held back for more than 10mins.

My wife and I took a four-day trip through the Fann Mountains with Paramount Journey, and it was one of the most amazing experiences of our lives. Alovaddin, the owner of the company, was extremely accessible from start to finish, and made sure the trip was remarkably comfortable and well-organized at every step.
For four days, we explored the country with our driver Amirkhon and our guide Bobo, a practicing archaeologist who gave us amazing access and insight into some of the most incredible areas in Central Asia. Along the way, we stayed in nice hotels and guesthouses and met incredibly warm and welcoming people. We're so grateful for our experience and have already begun recommending it to our friends and family.

I had booked a Fann Mountains trek with Paramount Journey and it turned out to be an amazing experience! I can definitely recommend the company and the trek organisation. Why? Because first, the nature in all it's autumn colours and impressive snow-topped mountain scenery makes it an unforgettable experience. Second, and more important, because Rahim our trekking guide and the crew made the entire trek as safe and comfortable as possible for us. All decisions he made wer right at the time and the advice he gave was very helpful for us. Some of the trekkers arrived with stomach issues and nausea already before starting the trip, and the caring way in which Rahim dealt with it was highly encouraging. He kept us motivated when we had a down (such as on 3,800m altitude) but never challenged us over our abilities and comfort. The crew around him (drivers, chef, donkey workers) were very reliable and very friendly. All in all, we didn't have to worry about a thing and could fully enjoy trekking in the breathtaking scenery of Fann Mountains. Highly recommend this company and trek to anyone considering trekking in Tajikistan! Thank you Paramount Journey for an amazing experience!
