We didn’t have a hotel in Ella and arrived directly from Sigiryia. Picking up the tickets from Geesara was no problem. I texted him the day before and we got to pick up the train tickets from near the train station. Our train arrived a bit late but all in all the ride was really nice with stunning views and the staff on the train were always informing us about upcoming sights!

My sister and I stayed at the kandy backpackers hostel where our private bus mini bus ride took us to the train station in time to catch the train from Kandy to Ella. The guys were really friendly and on time to pick us up. Overall pleasant experience so would book with them again. Thank you!

It's now two weeks since we returned from a wonderful trip to Sri Lanka and it's time to review the trip on behalf of our group. We booked with Flamingo Urlaub in Germany and the trip was organised locally by Mahaweli Tours & Holidays. Even at the time of booking, individual wishes were lovingly catered for. After all, two families travelling from different regions of Germany had to be brought together. Everything worked out perfectly. On site, we were looked after by a wonderful, very experienced and knowledgeable tour guide (Riyancy) and an excellent coach driver (Chathura). In this way, we were introduced to this fascinating country in a wonderful way. Within a short space of time, a friendly relationship developed between us, which continued even after the end of the trip. This service came in handy when we were to late ordering the tickets on the official website. Fast and friendly communication. Physical tickets got dropped off at our hotel before the day of the train ride.

Very personalised experience via WhatsApp, asked for 2nd class reserved and was given those tickets, tickets sent to my accommodation in Kandy and all this was arranged with only 2 days advanced booking. Geesara was very knowledgable and organised everything for us. Only issue was the seats weren’t next to each other which Geesara explained may happen so just to swap with someone on the train and that’s what we did and it was fine. One of the staff members on the train sorted it so everyone could sit together.

Great experience. Took Podi Menike train from Ella to Colombo with second class reserved seats. Things to know, the whole journey takes about 10 hours. Ella to Kandy takes 6-7 hours, train goes slow, amazing views, waterfalls, tea plantations, hills, tunnels and bridges. Then the train speeds up from Kandy to Colombo. Hope for good weather and take pictures. Beautiful scenery. Unreal. Better to book tickets online in advance. Take food, or you can buy short eats and tea on the train for decent prices.

Following booking our train tickets with Geesara (separate review), we decided to book a number of taxi transfers between different places in Sri Lanka over the month of our stay with this company also. The communication was outstanding- instantaneous replies to any questions I had, any time of the day or evening, with informative responses. All information was provided promptly and clearly. The cars themselves were the best we used in Sri Lanka- extremely clean and very nice interiors and exteriors, with courteous and helpful drivers. The prices provided were also very competitive.
