This is a distinctive colorful celebration where you can participate in the morning's grand opening ceremony. Though the celebration of Naadam is held throughout Mongolia, the opening ceremony in Ulaanbaatar's main stadium is the largest off all ceremonies.

Itinerary
- 1We will pick you up from your hotel. Naadam begins with carrying the State’s Nine Sacred White Banner from the Parliament House to the Central Stadium followed by folk, classic and pop performances choreographed with traditional and modern dance routines, and parade of people with colourful traditional costumes. It is always fascinating to see Mongolian wrestlers in their traditional wrestling costumes while doing their falcon dance during a melodic praises by their coaches. Enjoy Mongolia pastry-Huushuur at Naadam and make a visit to knuckle bone shooting and archery tournaments. In the afternoon, you will witness Mongolia’s renowned endurance horse race outside Ulaanbaatar. The horses are graded by age and sex and race over distances of up to 28 kilometres, their riders young children aged between four and 12 years old, many without stirrups or saddles. Visiting local Naadam is always enjoyable firsthand experience for travellers where you may have opportunities to meet jokey children and wrestlers. You will return to Ulaanbaatar in the afternoon.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- SeniorCuratorPenguin0 contributionsUlaanbaatar and Malchin PeakWe recently went to Mongolia with Zendmen Travel to Ulaanbaatar and to the summit of Malchin Peak, which was just incredible. The staff are world class guides, drivers, and cooks. Their intricate knowledge of Mongolia and the challenges that comes with travel in this remote part of the world are second to none. We travelled with our 5-year-old daughter and the care and safety they provided for her throughout the trip was exceptional. Traveling in Mongolia is not easy but with their extensive experience, forward thinking, and ability to adapt quickly when things don’t go as planned make the trip a once in a lifetime experience. Zendmen Travel is the only outfit you would need for any travel throughout this country. I would consider all of them friends and you will also.Written September 21, 2024
- JulieSingapore0 contributionsOur first & lasting impression with Mongolia, charmingly defined & embossed by the team at ZendmennWe did a 13-day Gobi Desert Trip with 5 couples. Our guide Temulen, more like an ambassador to us, received us at the airport and were with us every day, every moment till we departed on day 13. Muno also welcomed us at the start and end of the trip. The itinerary was planned in a flexible manner, with a plan in mind but with room to vary. We had the itinerary, but it was all 'big picture', we didn't exactly know what we were going to do and see at each attraction, nor the place that we were going to stay, so every day was a pleasant surprise and to look forward to. Strangely the group also didn't ask too much on what we were going to do the next day, every night, we just crashed in bed, wake up next morning and wait in anticipation for Temulen to 'draw the curtain' and we will just go wow!! It was a lovely 13 -days with daily highlights, the three daily meals exceeded our expectations, the drivers were very friendly and approachable, fun loving too. We are grateful that Temulen and the drivers spent so many days with us away from their family, taking care of us, introducing Mongolia to us, immersing us into the culture and lifestyle, and attending to everyone's needs. Mongolia is as charming as these ambassadors, including the tour manager that we bumped into towards the end of the trip. Everyone at Zendmen were very professional, humble, polite, responsive and caring. We look forward to touring with Zendman again.Written September 26, 2023
- 874katyas0 contributionsFantastic custom tour with Zendmen Travel MongoliaWe absolutely loved our custom tour with Zendmen Travel Mongolia in June - July 2023. We travelled with a toddler (less than 2 years old) and it was an exciting and very fulfilling journey and adventure. Lkhagva and his team are outstanding travel experts and they arranged a completely unique and custom tour for us. This included all the places we wanted to see, plenty of amazing food (our cook in the mountains, Rina was absolutely incredible and we miss her and her food immensely:-) and immersion into Mongolian culture and way of life. We spent 25 days travelling around Mongolia and Lkhagva and his team were always enthusiastic, courteous, extremely professional and efficient (while making us feel like we're visiting old friends!) If you would like to visit Mongolia, I'd recommend Zendmen Travel Mongolia right away!Written September 8, 2023
- tanya_edgar0 contributionsHighly recommendedHad a wonderful time on a three week winter adventure, unbelievably managed to see an Eagle Festival (Kazak hunters), Camel Festival and meet the reindeer people as well as doing some other highlights like the flaming cliffs, museums and province capitals. Full and varied trip. Plus, I've never felt safer as a female solo traveller!Written April 6, 2023

- Chrissty L0 contributionsSuperb experienceWe booked this 18 days tour with Zendmen Travel last summer. Tour was just unforgettable experience from start to finish. Driver (Munkhuu) and guide (Lkhagvaa) was super helpful with every step of the tour. Great characters and great service from both of them. Very professional. With this 18 days tour, we got what we were promised. Definitely recommend them for your travel needs. You won't be disappointed.Written February 26, 2023
- muller9460 contributionsWe had blasting experience with ZendmenMe and my friends visited the Gobi Desert in the summer of 2022. We had an absolute blast. Zendmen was an extremely professional and caring travel agency. We had no other travel plans besides seeing the Gobi. They recommended their 13-day Gobi trip, which was fantastic. I would never forget the day we climbed the sand dune. It was truly mesmerizing. Even though it was difficult to climb, it was well worth it. Tour guide was extremely friendly and professional. Thanks to Zendmen, i had great experience. 100% recommendedWritten January 29, 2023

- AussieBuru0 contributionsAn unforgettable and priceless experience! My trip was in Jul 2019. A friend recommended Zendmen Travel. PJ is Zendmen’s local representative and he is super helpful and friendly. I must admit they are a little pricey, but they are also worth every dollar. I was assigned the best guide – Lkhagva together with the best driver anyone could wish for when travelling alone in a totally unfamiliar territory. Their attentiveness and professionalism made me feel safe and comfortable throughout the trip. I did not have an itinerary plan. I did list a few “must do” and left the planning to Zendmen and my guide did not disappoint. I must apologize to Lkhagva that my review came 1 year late due to some unexpected personal event after returning from Mongolia. My heartfelt gratitude to Lkhagva who encouraged me not to give up when climbing the tallest sand dune, who accommodated to my insistence on camping in the wild regardless of the drizzle coming our way, who taught me so much about the history, the culture and the values of Mongolia and its people. The highlight of my trip was the stay with a precious nomadic family. Till today, I still dream of the horse-riding moment, the taste of boodog, khorkhog, suutei tsai that I was served so generously. We may not have a common spoken language, but their warmth, hospitality and genuineness did not stop us from connecting. I could stay up all night outside of the ger watching the stars in the clear blue sky while sipping the Mongolian vodka. I could sit all morning watching sunrise and all evening watching sunset while sipping coffee and tea. Thank you for making my 1st Mongolia trip a memorable one!Written August 13, 2020
- gregorjmcmillan0 contributionsTrip of a LifetimeWas extremely impressed by Zendemen Travel - we visited the far west of Mongolia - starting in Ulgii and going into the Altai mountains for a two week tour. We hiked, rode horses, stayed in gers, camped by lakes, climbed mountains, saw eagles and so much more. Lhkagva our guide and our driver Bahrit were phenomenal. They are some of the best and most attentive tour staff I have ever encountered. Endlessly capable, knowledgeable and eager to help out and make the trip everything we'd hoped - they really made the trip from an adventure in the outback to something unforgettable. Was also impressed how comfortable they made life for us visiting - cooking three fantastic hot meals a day in a portable field kitchen is no mean feat! We were a small group and the guys cut the line between professionalism and friendliness perfectly - it was a really brilliant arrangement. I have to once again thank Zendemen and Lhkagva for their attention and professionalism. Hope we can come back to Mongolia one day and explore something new. - SimpleWanderer1230 contributionsLake KhovsgolWe were recommended this company by a friend. Since the beginning, Amka was very professional and helpful when organizing our trip and was flexible to adapt it to our schedule and interests. Communication was excellent, quick and clear by email and WhatsApp. Our guide, driver and horseman were great company and full of stories to share. They were kind, funny, knowledgeable, relaxed and were always attentive to our needs. The 6-day trip itself was a lot of fun. We visited deer stone monuments and local Naadam festival, tried horse milk, did a 2-day horse trek, as well as some walking, boating and diving at the lake!! Mongolia is a beautiful and unique country that's worth a visit. Overall, it was a wonderful trip because it had a nice balance of adventure and relaxation. If you want to be well-taken care of, then we recommend Zendmen Travel for your trip to Mongolia. Thanks for a memorable holiday!Written April 13, 2019
- Tok_SL0 contributionsWestern MongoliaHave been wanting to visit Mongolia and finally did it this yr with Zendman Travel! Thankful for the personal attention of Muno who brought us thru the adventures along the Altai ranges on horseback and living in the Yurt/Erk with the local families. Made the trip so much more authentic! Hiking up the mountain ranges and seeing source of the water stream was the first for me. Unique too was the opportunity to live with a Golden Eagle Hunter family and also seeing the adorable Przewalski's horses...the original wild horses of Monglia, among other sightings. Throughly enjoyed the trip..cos of Muno, the jolly driver and our lovely cook! Looking forward to next trip...horseback travelling through the mountains!Written October 13, 2018

The trip promised “Meet Horse Trainers” and “Visit horse trainer’s gers” and we did not experience either of these. The trip was around $300 per person and is absolutely not worth that price. Do not book this tour and instead stay in Ulaanbaatar and go to the Naadam festival on your own. It will max cost you $30. I would like a significant refund for this experience due to the missed events.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment you experienced during your trip.
We strive to provide a fulfilling experience for all our guests, and we regret that we fell short of your expectations. While we did offer everything we promised in the itinerary, including the Naadam Festival opening ceremony, horse racing, lunch, dinner, and a local food experience, we understand that the missed visit to the horse trainers was a significant letdown for you.
The visit to the horse trainers and their gers was initially a bonus feature for this tour, not a primary component, and it contributed minimally to the overall cost. Unfortunately, this year, the horse racing was delayed by two hours, which disrupted our schedule and made it difficult to catch up on the following plans, including the visit to the horse trainers.
We truly apologize for any inconvenience this caused and understand your frustration. As a gesture of goodwill, we are happy to offer you compensation for the missed visit. Please contact us directly so we can discuss a realistic and fair refund amount.
We value your feedback and hope to have the opportunity to make things right. Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,
Zendmen Team

This trip was just a great experience for me and my girlfriend. We travelled with Zendmen travel last summer with two trips. One of them was 9 days Gobi tour and other was Naadam festival day trip. Both trip was unbelievable.
Naadam is such great must-visit festival. Heard about Naadam festival from friend before but experiencing a horse racing and opening ceremony was even better than I expected.
Zendmen took care of us just right, definitely recommend them.
