- Sabelle51500 contributionsFantastic tour, excellent guide and driver. We had a 14 day tour, and it was fantastic time! Our driver and guide were top notch. The tour was very well planned, travel time wasn’t bad, and we saw wonderful scenery on our way. Our driver would frequently slow down or even stop so we could take photos. Our guide spoke very good English, and had loads of information and stories for us! Amicus Tours went well beyond our expectations, and we will be back again.Written September 29, 2024
- godivas20210 contributionsExcellent! We were a group of 6 seniors from the Philippines. We enjoyed the tour very much but it was because of the good service of Ms. Zaya and our driver Sukhee. - 621sanah0 contributionsS5-2 Central Mongolia HighlightsMy son and I went on a 5 day private tour from 03-07 August 2024. The following was our itininerary: Day 1: Karakorum Day 2: Tsenkher Hot Spring, Khangai Mountains Day 3: Tsetserleg - Taikhar Chuluu Day 4: Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes & camel riding - Hugnu Khan Mt. National Park Day 5: Hustai National Park All our meals were inclusive of the price and accommodation was in camps (Ger/Yurt) We were picked up from the Platinum Hotel in Ulaanbaatar by our tour guide Maduka and his designated driver our trip covered around 1200km in a 4WD. Our driver was very skilled, stopping for breaks and ensuring we travelled safely. Maduka gave us an unforgettable trip. His guidance, friendly and helpful manner made us feel comfortable. He was helpful, funny and knew when to provide us with information on the places we visited and cultural norms and he also knew when we wanted to just enjoy and take in the maginificent Mongolian scenery without being lectured. His enthusiasm, high level of English skills and easy-going care-free nature meant we had good conversations and really funny moments and experiences. He was always mindful of our needs and gave us options along the way that suited us. He was well organised and the tour was seamless. We're are grateful to have Maduka and our excellent drivers during our stay in Mongolia. SanaWritten September 17, 2024
- landaashira0 contributionsBreathtaking scenery, disappointing serviceAs someone who has had the privilege of traveling to many breathtaking destinations around the world, I can say with certainty that Mongolia is a country of remarkable natural beauty. The sweeping landscapes, towering mountains, and serene grasslands left me in awe. However, my recent experience with the tour company Amicus has tainted my otherwise positive impression of this incredible country. From the outset, I had high expectations for my Mongolian adventure, but Amicus quickly dashed those hopes. I was shocked to discover that I had paid nearly double the price that other travelers had for the exact same trip. It's one thing to pay a premium for a luxury experience, but it's quite another to be blatantly overcharged without any justification. To make matters worse, the tour guide provided by Amicus was far from the seasoned professional I had envisioned. Instead, I was greeted by a young, individual who seemed more like a disgruntled teenager than a knowledgeable and engaging guide. Their lack of experience and unprofessional demeanor did little to enhance my overall experience, leaving me feeling thoroughly "ripped off." I had come to Mongolia with the hope of immersing myself in its rich culture and natural wonders, but Amicus' blatant disregard for its customers has left a sour taste in my mouth. I cannot in good conscience recommend this tour company to anyone seeking an authentic and value-driven adventure in this stunning country. Moving forward, I will be sure to thoroughly research alternative tour operators that can provide the level of quality and service that one would expect from a holiday in Mongolia.Written August 23, 2024
- Adelaide51520 contributionsAstounding Mongolia Trip thanks to an innovative agency, remarkable guide and vigilant driver - Unbelievably Great TimeMy adult son and I have just completed an incredible 10 day trip to Mongolia covering the Gobi, Steppes and Ulaanbaatar organised at very short notice by the amazing Billy, the GM of Amicus. Less than 6 weeks ago we decided to undertake this trip and Billy helped us craft what has turned out to be a very special time. He was very easy to work with and quickly understood what we were looking for and put it all together - in fact as we were preparing in Australia things seemed so easy that we were afraid that it was all too good to be true - but it wasn't! Everything we did on our itinerary was remarkable. It is one thing having a great plan, but it is an entirely different proposition having the plan executed to perfection. For that we have to thank our very sensitive, knowledgeable and compassionate guide Saihanaa and Enkbaatar our very skilled and careful driver. We cannot speak highly enough of how they made this an extraordinary time. Enkbaatar was incredible. Driving in Mongolia requires real concentration and a "GPS in your head." Most of the 2100 Kms were on the unpaved roads and tracks. He had a very comfortable and clean SUV that made the trip easy. We were in awe that he knew where to go when we were "off road" and I had a great time "co-navigating" - of course I had no idea! But we had lots of fun together. Saihanaa was exceptional. She is a very warm hearted person whose kindness and munificence was humbling. Saihanaa is very proficient in English, being an English teacher during the academic year and was very generous in her willingness to translate for us when we "spoke" with the many people we met who did not speak English. We learned so much about Mongolia - its history, customs, cultural events, economy and its people. She made sure our meals and accomodation were the best and proactively looked after all the little things. Nothing was too hard or impossible for her. Saihanaa was always on time and very understanding when we wanted a bit more time. She was flexible in scheduling so that we got to see a lot of unexpected things (horse races, wrestling, herders gers, etc.) because she was willing with Enkbaatar to do the research and then go out of her way to make it happen for us. She introduced us to many people who, without her willingness to put herself out, we would never have gotten to know. We could not have been more pleased - we feel like when we were assigned Saihanaa that we won the jackpot. We quickly went from being a father son trip to a "family" trip as the four of us bonded and gelled and had great fun - enjoying meals together, doing yoga stretches during our road breaks, sharing food treats, playing Mongolian board games, learning and chatting. Enkbaatar and Saihanaa's finesse in operating as part of our "family" while respecting our privacy was incredible. We are so privileged to have been exposed to such a beautiful country. The magnificent scenery and warm and hospitable people are extraordinary. I have never experienced anything like it. The time went very quickly. Thank you Billy and Amicus Travel for arranging our trip so well - we would highly recommend Amicus - and especially thank you Enkbaatar and Saihanaa for your exceptional care and support.Written August 12, 2024

We had a 3-days long trip with Amicus, Haliun was our travel guide and Enhbold was our driver. From the first e-mail to the hotel drop off everything was on the highest level. Thanks to Haliun we learned a lot about Mongolia. Because of her family background she knows a lot about nomads life. Also Haliun and Enhbold helped us with the kids when we needed it. During the trip we felt very relaxed and comfortable. We certainly recommend this tour and the company to everyone.Written August 2, 2024
- 741haleu0 contributionsPerfect guide and driver!I came on a tour from Turkey so Amicus and my local agency worked together. Therefore, it was kind of a private tour. We went mainly west and south. I would like to emphasisze the comfort and professionalism on part of our local guide Saihanaa and all the drivers, particularly my driver Mr. Jayan. Rarely have I been in company with people who do their job with love and passion which provides a caring environment and an exponentially satisfying experience. The tour was a total success. Timing was perfect, accomodation chosen was comfortable and transport in 4x4 lexus off road vehicles made the drive trough rough terrain an absolute pleasure. One little thing I would have wished to be different is the selection of food for my lunches and dinners. All meals were included in the tour price which is a brilliant idea; however, they were mostly western food, or at least cooked in that way more or less. I have been told that that was deliberately done so for the comfort of the visitor. I would have liked to be given at least a choice between local and western food. I don't think that I have had enough opportunities to taste local foods. I would have preferred to eat what the local people eat because food is a huge part of culture. That being said, hats off to Saihanaa and Mr Jayan for their ever smiling faces, positive attitude and peaceful energy. I will be back!Written July 21, 2024

- Navigator591546504750 contributionsAmazing service and hospitality from AmicusWe have visited Mongolia during Naadam festival with Amicus travel, Billy as a guide and Baji (if I spell incorrect, I am sorry) as a driver. Both of them are amzaing and incredible in their own way. The trip was smooth and we received great experience and services from the two Amicus team. Our guide shared a lot of knowledge and history regard to his beautiful country. We have learnt a lot about Mongolia, thanks to him. To have an amazing guide is very important because it will reflect to the travellers if they will decide to visit the country again or not, and for us it will be definitely a "YES" we will surely come back to Mongolia. Our driver drove safely well and always help us, not just on the road but shopping as well. He also helped me with Nomadic cultures and some interpret too. The trip detail was set up well, not that long ride so that we were not that tired and the meals was lovely, I was expected for more local food but it is stil great. I will give ten out of ten to this company And 120% recommend to these two crews 👍Written July 17, 2024

- Traveler090920 contributionsAmazing Gobi Desert Private TourWe just returned from a spectacular trip to Mongolia, and one of the highlights was the 4 day/3 night private tour to the South Gobi Desert that we took with Amicus Travel. Everything about our tour was top notch, from the moment we got picked up from our hotel to the time we said our goodbyes at the airport, we felt totally taken care of by our driver and guide. Our driver, Erdenee, was incredible. Driving in Mongolia requires incredible skill, nerve, and total focus. On the paved road from Ulaanbaatar to Dalanzadgad, it was 8 hours of skillfully navigating around potholes and various animals (horses, camels, cows, goat, sheep) at relatively high speed. On the unpaved roads and completely nonexistent roads, it was maneuvering around holes, dips, dropoffs, rocks, plus the animals. He literally could not take his eyes off the road for even a moment, as it could mean serious damage to the car if he hit something big. We were exhausted after the drives - I can't imagine how much more exhausted the driver was. Plus with no roads out there, we were amazed that he knew where to go sometimes. Sometimes in the middle of a vast expanse of desert with no road, he'd suddenly veer off in a new direction as if he had some kind of internal compass. He was also the nicest guy and always so helpful, whether it was offering us bottled water, helping us with our suitcases, or pulling over whenever we asked him to (which was mostly when we spotted a cool animal to take pictures of, like the Siberian ibex). Our guide, Sarnai, was even more wonderful. She was young, but she carried herself with a maturity far beyond her years and was so capable and knowledgeable. And more importantly, she was just a really really nice person who radiated kindness and made us feel like friends, rather than clients. She was such a great guide and knew so much about Mongolian history and culture. She was able to answer all of our random questions about culture, food, politics, local customs, animals, and everything and anything we could think to ask her. She was also so sweet to search for birthday candles to help celebrate my husband's birthday one evening with birthday Choco-Pies at dinner. She always made sure that all of our drives were made manageable with potty breaks (she knew where all the clean public toilets were) and snack breaks. She borrowed sleds for us so that we could sled down the sand dunes. She took family photos for us at every spot. She even made sure we weren't overcharged for souvenirs. Everything about our trip just ran so smoothly and on schedule, and nothing ever felt rushed. I'd attribute a lot of that to Sarnai's skill as a guide. In terms of accommodations, we stayed at a different ger camp each night since the 3 sights (Yol Valley, Khongor sand dunes, Flaming Cliffs) are pretty far apart. Some gers were a little fancier than others and some places had better food than others, but overall we were comfortable and well fed. Obviously, anyone who travels to Mongolia should have realistic expectations about being in an extremely remote place. We were pretty amazed at how much food they prepared for us, and how on earth they transported so much food to these camps on a regular basis. In some of the camps, electricity and hot water were available only for a few hours a day, wifi was only available in the main ger or restaurant, and plumbing is basic (don't throw toilet paper in the toilet!). But these are all of the things that make traveling an incredible experience, if you are able to embrace the different-ness of it all and just enjoy it for what it is, because Mongolia is so worth it. Mongolia is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, not only for its natural beauty but especially because of its culture and its people. Mongolian culture is the most hospitable we've ever experienced, and that aspect of their culture translates seamlessly into the way both Erdenee and Sarnai took care of us from start to finish, and always with a smile. Overall, we are so happy that we chose Amicus Travel to arrange our trip and we would highly recommend them to anyone.Written July 7, 2024

Billy was a wonderful guide. Not only did he ensure that everything ran perfectly, but he was extremely knowledgeable and open. We learned so much, not only about Mongolia’s history, but also about life in the country today. He was flexible about our itinerary and persistent about getting us into places that were unexpectedly closed. Our driver was also amazing. He got us there quickly and safely, while still managing to point out horses and camels on the side of the road and pulling over for us to take photos. Overall, a great experience.

Hands down the best tour I have ever done. If I could rate our tour 10 stars, I would! Our guide Haliun (Holly), and our driver Erick were phenomenal. Holly was very knowledgeable on any and all questions we had on the history of Mongolia.
We toured the mini Gobi desert, rode camels, and stayed at the Bayan Gobi camp in a traditional Mongolian Ger. Our Ger was very clean, and our guide Holly provided accurate and specific details on everything pertaining to the area we were located. She was also very accommodating and pleasant to travel with.
The next day, we traveled forward to Kharkhorin city where we stopped at a museum, visited the ancient ruins, and explored the Buddhist temples located at the site. Afterwards, we traveled to Ugii Lake where we stayed at the Ugii Lake tourist camp. Here, we stayed in another Ger, with lakefront views and a mountainous landscape on the horizon. Holly and Erick, again, were very accommodating and allowed us the opportunity to visit a nomadic family where we were welcomed with milk tea, and aaruul.
The following day, we visited the Hustai National Park where we rode beautiful wild horses while enjoying the serene, and beautiful landscape of the National Park. While settling in for the night, we enjoyed the warm crackling fire from our stove within the Ger keeping us warm throughout the evening into the next morning.
Our final day on the tour we visited numerous sites within Ulaanbaatar to include a Soviet Mosaic, National History Museum, and Sukhbaatar Square. Holly described the history to us of each building, monument, statue and location we visited.
The food during our entire trip was phenomenal. Each meal was cooked and prepared very quickly, and healthy providing us with the energy needed to explore the beautiful country of Mongolia. We were provided with meals that met each and everyone’s dietary needs, and Holly made sure we were accommodated based on that. Protein, vegetables, fruits, healthy carbs including an assortment of teas, and other local drinks ensured our meals were the best.
Unfortunately, our trip concluded after four days but I wish we stayed longer. The Mongolian people are very proud of their history, and are a very generous, and kind people to foreigners. We enjoyed every second of our stay and plan on visiting Mongolian again. Without a doubt, if you choose this tour, ask for Haliun (Holly) to be your guide. She is hands down the BEST of the BEST when it comes to traveling Mongolia.
Thank you, Mongolia. I hope to visit you again soon.

My husband and I had a great maiden trip to Mongolia for 7days under the good care of guide Ms Chuukii and driver Mr Tsogoo, both of which are absolutely fun, chill people who gave great guidance throughout the road trip. We get to enjoy camel and horse riding, ride sand dunes, walk grassland, try local food, visit nomadic family randomly and still have the warmth and comfort at tourist ger camps which mostly exceed our expectations. Highly recommend to take these tours, especially if you're worried bout roughing it because under these guided tours you won't. Mongolia is a wonderful country that shouldn't be missed.

Not only was Mongolia the best trip I have had outside of the United States, but the service of our tour guide and driver was wonderful! You could tell they put in loads of work to make the trip as informational as we wanted. Haliunan (our tour guide) honestly made the experience better than we could have ever done on our own navigations. Also if you are looking to travel from the U.S. Haliunan (our tour guide) spoke perfect English and made communication great. We wanted to try and get the most authentic trip and taste of Mongolia and that is what we got. We were given options to pick some days for things to do which made the experience even more personalized!

We had the most memorable time of our lives. The driver and Deema, our guide, were very hospitable and helpful. They looked after us and made sure that all our needs were met and that we had special opportunities to do things outside the itinerary whenever possible. The driver would stop for us when we wanted to take pictures or fly the drone. Once a nomadic family invited us to their home by chance and we went with them. The experience turned out to be such a lovely surprise. It’s a trip we will remember forever. Thank you amicus travel. Highly recommend !

We did not forget. Billy came to us with sincerity as a person and a professional as a business owner. Thank you!
Our concern was the time of our pick up and the lack of communication from our tour guide. He himself came to the rescue.
The confirmed reservation was indeed there but the time they got the booking email it was then a little late but then again, he showed up, and that’s all that mattered.
We can blame ourselves for booking in such short notice.
After the proper introduction and miscommunications everything else was truly A+++ amazing. From visiting the mighty Genghis Khan statue paired up with a cup of coffee (you deserved that hot cup of coffee, sir!) inside the Gorkhi-Terelj National park and the provide lunch was indeed an experience.
One of the best part of the tour was the Aryabal Meditation temple inside the park! He gave us some tips and pointers on how to climb the flight of stairs. Those words that we chant were powerful and truly effective.
We learned a lot from Billy and even up until now we still talk about the tour. And let’s not forget the part that he busted out the umbrella numerous times due to the rainy weather. What a true gentleman.
Our sincerest apologies for having to write this review extremely late. It was September of 2023. We did not forget.
Thanks again, Billy!

If you need a day trip outside of Mongolia then Billy would be your guy! Despite the rain on the day that we went to visit the Genghis Khan complex statue and Terelj National Park he managed everything smoothly. A very educational tour too!
He even apologized for coming in a few minutes late even though the set time was at 10:30am. He deserves his own set of stars separate from the review itself.
Thanks again for the memorable trip!
