It’s a school that was converted into a prisión, all the classrooms have a metallic bed and dry blood on the floor everywhere. I didn’t take the audio guide to avoid hearing all the horrible stories that happened there, it was depressing just to be there and see the photos of all the people that died there and were tortured I walked around quickly and left, it’s depressing, there are better things to see

Learning history
As raw and confronting as this tour was, I'm glad I braved the horror. It is horror, and cut me to the core, it also made me feel like as a human being we can do better than this, we are here to look after one another not to hurt, control and kill in the name of power.
The audio tours are recommended

Did what it said!

Bus arrived on time, was cool, told us the entry prices, when to be back, have us a water, played a documentary and took us back. Exactly as described. If you are in Phnomn Penh going to these places is a must even though it is harrowing. Just the right amount of time at each place.

Visiting the Sad side of Cambodia
Aug 2019
The two main sites in Phnom Penh involving the Khmer Rouge genocide are the Killing Fields and Prison S21. They can be visited individually, either by taxi or various services, or together either with an organized tour or self-guided but with a drop-off/pick-up arrangement. I tried them all. In my opinion the audio tours at the sites are excellent and make a guide totally unnecessary. Take a taxi to either or both sites, use the audio tour at your leisure, and easily pick up a taxi for a return to your hotel. If you want to visit them both in the same day (which makes for a very heavy day), you can do the hop on-off arrangement, but I found taxis easier and inexpensive.

Not really a tour - prob best to pay a local driver $10 USD between 4 people
Feb 2020
We went on the tour as we felt it was good value and easier but with hindsight we basically paid for a taxi and the various hotel drop offs meant we wasted valuable time at the end dropping everyone off. The entry tickets aeren't included in the tour price but you watch an informative film and get a bottle of water. Would recommend booking a Grab taxi driver and watching 'first they killed my father' on netflix instead. FYI the museum was v emotional but really worthwhile - have a personal tour, rather than the audio guide.

Scam
Feb 2020
I haven't even been on the tour yet and I feel very let down. I tried to book the 8.30am "tour" but when it confirmed, it had booked me the 2pm "tour" because the early one had sold out.
I say "tour" because I was completely mislead by the title. The price of the museum isn't included. it's just an expensive taxi. I tried to cancel moments after booking but I will have to pay the full price anyway.
I thought TripAdvisor were a reputable company. Extremely disappointed.

Very Difficult
Jan 2020
Very difficult to understand how this could happen in our recent history. I was in college when this occurred and you occasionally saw bits and pieces on the news, but it was a world away for most of us. Our tour guide lost several family members at this prison - very emotional for him to guide the tour for us. The prison remains basically in the same condition it was when the killings occurred. You have to visualize how the torture was done and it winds up being a very emotional tour - but one that everyone should take.
