About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- SuperG860 contributionsGreat Day Tour of DhakaI was picked up on time and went straight to see the Bangladesh parliament. It was a good view and explanation, however, we could only get so close as I am a foreigner. The flower markets were next along with the university, Hindu Temple, Star Mosque and Armenian Church. The lunch was good in a local restaurant along with the market walk and river boat ride. My favourite was seeing the Ashan Manzil (Pink Palace), seeing the architecture with my own eyes and listening to the history from the fantastic guidance of Nawabi, as he had been doing through the whole tour.Written June 10, 2024
- heathclayton0 contributionsA fantastic day in DhakaWe had a fabulous day tour with Al-amin Farazi. We started at 8 AM at our hotel and he reviewed the planned itinerary with us and made some modifications based on our feedback and wishes. Then we set off to explore Dhaka! The highlight was walking around old Dhaka and heading to the river to see the ferry boats and the “lifeline” of Bangladesh. Lunch was tasty and fun, and and we felt really safe and cared for throughout the day. If we return to Bangladesh, we hope to have him as a tour guide again.Written June 1, 2024
- tdahlawi0 contributionsDay around DhakaImmersive day tour of Dhaka. I enjoyed my time with Mahib, he’s an excellent guide as he’s familiar with the city and its culture and sights. I highly recommend booking this tourWritten June 1, 2024
- LinAOma0 contributions10/10 would do again! My friend and I did this tour with Mahib. The interesting part about it was that we had a Dhaka city tour with Mahib that went so well that we also decided on the same day to book this tour. What a wise decision we made. Mahib and our driver (I forgot his name) were amazing. It was like exploring the city with old friends. This tour was fantastic. We saw so many things, tried delicious street foods along the way, took beautiful photos, and had an incredible experience in Bangladesh. I would hundred percent recommend!Written May 5, 2024
- LinAOma0 contributionsWonderful way to see Dhaka! My friend and I did this tour with Mahib. What an amazing experience. He was very knowledgeable about the country and he was happy to explain everything calmly to us. We had a lot of questions as it was our first time in Bangladesh and he was more than happy to answer our questions. He showed us a lot of interesting places and we were also able to try different Bangladesh foods. And the best part, he was a great photographer and was able to take wonderful pictures for us throughout the experience. Our driver was also amazing (though unfortunately I forget his name). If you are in Bangladesh for the first time I highly recommend this tour. What a wonderful experience we had! 10/10 would recommend especially with Mahib.Written May 5, 2024

- neeloy20190 contributionsFull of historical linked with all religion as well as a good food guideIt was my spl trip after Eid , therefore I had full access of comfort of an ac car while visiting the city because roads were not so jammed .. no need to take rickshaw.. wow it was amazing experience , like the old historical city as well as new modern city ..it covered all . For lunch always ask for dish like kachhi biriyani with chinigura rice at old Dhaka city resturant only .. it will blow your mind . Also in the morning near lalbag for there is a tea stall with snacks that was mind blowing taste just ask for it !!Written April 16, 2024
- milenakG2981IF0 contributionsUnforgettable experience ♥️I had an absolutely amazing time on this tour and it has surpassed my expectations. We took a ride on riksha, tuk tuk, boat (cruising Buriganga river), horse cart and finally metro to visit different sights around the city. Dhaka is such a colorful and bustling city and it will always have a special place in my heart. All this wouldn’t be possible without the best tour guide ever - Mahim. ♥️ Thank you and hope to see you soon!Written April 1, 2024
- Trail7359100 contributionsGreat solo adventureI had a most enjoyable few days with Mahib - ihe took extra care of me when it was needed and was very engaging and made sure that things which I wanted to see I did. I do not think he had a serious photographer before and was able to adapt quickly to what it was I wanted to see.Written March 30, 2024
- 275SimonB0 contributionsBangadesh is truly amazingMy guild Mahib was exceptional. The numerous forms of transport makes this trip so much entertaining. Dhaka’s air is surprising good for a city this busy and fun. The backwaters on a small wooden boat are magical.Written March 20, 2024
- Anastasia V0 contributionsDo not hire this companyDidn’t visit the pink palace, nobody warned us it was closed on Thursdays. Also very minimal effort from the guide with regards of timing. We arrived at the mosque during the prayer time so couldn’t enterWritten February 18, 2024
- Simonj3470 contributionsGreat communication. Safe. Realm of experiences.A fantastic tour. Seamless, intriguing, great communication and a wonderful experience. My guide was brilliant, saw everything in the tour and more. Thank you for showing me a glimpse of Dhaka!Written February 9, 2024
- John M0 contributionsDhaka in a Day!Being shown around Dhaka by someone that truly loves his country was an absolute pleasure. Mahim not only showed me the best places, he gave me the history of everywhere we went. Not only the best places, but the best foods and deserts that Bangladesh had to offer. The traffic in Dhaka was insane, but Mahim made it enjoyable the whole time. I would look forward to having Mahim show me around the rest of Bangladesh the next time I am in the country.Written December 15, 2023
- ViennaTraveler20 contributionsGreat Tour of Dhaka with Knowledgable GuideIf you want to explore Dhaka, then this is the tour for you. History, architecture, wet market, sea port, boat ride, local markets, Armenian church, Liberation Museum (very informative), National Museum, flower market, food tour, tuk tuk, and rickshaw rides. Tour guide Al Amine, speaks great English, is knowledgeable, funny!, and will tailor the tour to what you like to see.Written December 4, 2023
- eufonian0 contributionsHalf day tour through DhakaI would like to thank our guide, Mahib, for keeping us safe during my trip to Dhaka. Although there was a protest going on and we had to skip a couple places on the itinerary, we did explore most of the city, and Mahib kept the trip fun and interesting. I learned a lot about Bangladesh history, culture, and the people lifestyle in Dhaka. We also had lunch at a restaurant and got to try some of the local food including biryani (can pick between beef, chicken, mutton, or veggie), firni, and borhani. Even though I only had about 12 hours in Dhaka, Mahib was flexible enough to make sure we had enough time to explore each landmark. I definitely recommend this tour if you only have about half to full day in Dhaka.Written November 17, 2023

Nov 2023 • Couples
First of all: You should generally refrain from traveling to Bangladesh until at least February 2024. Because of the election in January 2024, there were protests in November 2023 with dangerous situations and restrictions on our travel itinerary.
General: We did not expect the trip to be quite so easy. Most of the journeys are made by tuktuk. Sometimes up to 70 km a day and bad roads. What we found particularly dangerous were the tuktuk and car journeys at night. Here you should definitely change the plan to avoid this. There were also no belts in the car to fasten yourself. You should also only have backpacks with you because traveling with suitcases is very arduous (you always have your luggage with you during the day)! The suitcases were almost easier to transport in the tuktuk than in a car journey. The accommodations are very simple. In Bogra, for example, the Momo Inn (5* on Google 4.5) was swapped for a motel (Parjatan Motel on Google 4.0). Considering that when booking as a couple you only need one room but pay as an individual traveler, better accommodation could be booked (some of these were very moldy, worn and had lots of insects). In general, you wonder why the trip is so expensive when you consider the prices for hotel rooms (40 euros per night) or for the 3-day cruise (with permission on the ship without AC, which was rather simpler than the other ships that were on the way, for 150 euros per person). Since you otherwise use the train (5 euros per person), public bus and tuk-tuks, the price of the trip is simply too high.
The tour guide was a bit difficult to understand, and an American on the cruise also had a poor understanding of his English. There wasn't much information about the country and its people. You were also very strongly patronized about what to eat, what, where and how to take photos, etc. We personally found this exhausting. But this seems to be the general mentality in Bangladesh. Most of the time there were options to decide, although it was usually clear which was the right one and which was ultimately made.
If you are OK with all of this and know what you are getting into, then it can be a really intense, authentic experience. We have certainly never been so close to the local population as we were on this trip.
What really spoiled the impression in the end was that the police in Bogra gave us the choice of staying in the motel in Bogra for 2-3 days because of the protests, with an uncertain outcome. Or driving back to Rajshahi immediately because it was too dangerous in Bogra. Our tour guide told us this and said that he was also very scared, which worried us a lot. We drove 120 km at night with the driver, who had already been on the road for a total of 16 hours. At the same time, we were pressured to book flight tickets from Rajshahi to Dhaka, which we were supposed to pay for ourselves (approx. 30 euros per person). We would have preferred to have the tour guide pay for the ticket as well. We did not understand why the agency did not take care of this, especially since the costs for another transfer and a day's program were not covered. In any case, we then brought our departure forward. Our tour guide was very surprised because we had another trip to Dhaka the next day. We were very surprised by this, first they spread great fear and then everything was completely unproblematic. It also didn't fit that we were taken to the airport with a police escort. We had already experienced at the train station in Rajshahi that the situation can change quickly, just seconds after we left the station, a group of demonstrators drove into the station.
It was also sad that Travel Trips, as a tour operator, no longer responded to a WhatsApp regarding the flights that we had to pay for ourselves.
It didn't bother us, but just for your information, in Dhaka the tours were/should be carried out in a larger group (i.e. not a complete private trip).

"We have been fortunate enough in having the opportunity from the start of our adventures in Bangladesh in meeting Mahibur Rahman and him becoming our go-to guide. We have done three tours with him including this "9 days World Heritage tour of Bangladesh" and have never been disappointed in the least. He is very organized, itinerary meticulously planned and agreed to in advance and always felt safe and secure. The tour was very interesting based on culture and heritage of Bangladesh. Mahibur makes sure all needs are met and if not goes out of his way to ensure that they are. Even when he is under the weather, as he was during our latest trip, he made sure that our wants and needs were taken care of. We definitely would recommend this tour and him as a tour guide and have given his name to colleagues and friends. Thank you Mahibur for being not only our tour guide but becoming our friend as well."
