        Great wine tour in Baku
I had a great visit on the wine tour of Baku. It was meant to be a group walking wine tour, however I was the only one that booked/showed up, so it ended up being a private tour with my guide Gamar - who was excellent! We went to two different wine bars where I tried 7 different wines (white, red, rose, pomegranate, and quince) from different regions of Azerbaijan. The accompanying snack plates were really good. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone visiting Baku who many not have time to make it out to the wine regions!

        Awesome Tour
It was a perfect day for a solo walking tour within the old city. We also saw some gorgeous buildings outside the old city that had interesting history. My guide Gamar was very knowledgeable and did an awesome job of communicating historical facts and local stories.

Great (and muddy) Day at the Mud Volcanoes and Gobustan
I had an amazing day with our guide Seymur and our driver. There was only one other person on the tour, which I think made everything go a bit smoother for the day. We first went to the mud volcanoes which were really impressive. We needed to transfer to a 4x4 because of the road conditions and the mud. I would highly advise boots/wellies in the autumn/winter as they suggest when booking, which I clearly didn't see! I had comfortable walking shoes (these were great for the rest of the tour) which were completely caked in mud by the time we were done at the volcanoes - but it was definitely worth it! We were provided bags for our shoes, but I wasn't able to keep mine on properly when sinking into the mud (and lost my shoe once or twice). We were helped to clean our shoes before transfering back to the original vehicle. I should also note, there is another option that is not off-road at all and you are able to stay clean, away from the mud, but we wanted to get up close to the volcanoes! Next we went to the Gobustan Museum where we learned about what Gobustan was like hundreds of thousands of years ago (covered by the sea) and what it's like now. We also learned about the animals and people that used to live in the area long ago - as well as all of the petroglyphs in Gobustan. Finally, we went to see the petroglyphs which ranged from 40,000 years ago to just a few thousand years ago. I would highly recommend this tour!

        Wonderful Welcome to Baku
Every major city we visit there is always an aim to take a walking tour. Gives locals perspective and some of the key insights and destinations. Gamar was super knowledgeable, honest, well spoken (for both our English and Turkish speaking group) and was able to answer our wide range of questions. Timeframe of walking tour was accurate even when considering extra time at destinations that our group was interested in.

Great introduction to Baku with a walking tour
We had a great time on a walking tour with Gamar. She was showing us around the old town and knowledgeably telling the stories behind. She gave us great tips about Baku and answered all our many questions. It was a pleasure to have her as our guide!

Seymur is a really great tour guide! He has an in depth knowledge of Baku and made it very interesting! He would make you understand the history of Baku easily by connecting all the puzzles and presenting a clear chronological timeline. He speaks very clear. He was patient and helpful. A must-try experience
Our guide Seymur was incredibly knowledgeable about Azerbaijani culture and history, and very happy to answer all our questions. Together we tried 6 wines - 4 of them at one location and 2 at the other. We got to try quince wine, pomegranate wine, merlot, sauvignon blanc and even blackcurrant wine! The wine experts briefly explained the process of production for each one, and then we all tried them together. However, if you're a bit of a wine connoisseur, you may want to visit an actual winery so that you get a bit more detailed explanation on each of the bottles as the information offered was quite brief. But for us amateurs, it was a great experience. There were plenty of delicious snacks and great conversation - my friend and I had an amazing time!

I thought the visits to Gobustan, mud volcanoes and ateshgah were very interesting. It was also an interesting experience to see the environment of Baku. Vusal was a good guide who told his a lot about Azerbaijan's history, life in the country and even its modern music ;-). I though the fire mountain was the least interesting visit, perhaps not entirely worth the extra time.

Hi Hans, Thanks for your review, I highly appreciate it! I'm happy that you enjoyed your tour with us. Fire mountain is definitely one of those places in Baku that quite a few visitors consider as "not worthy". I wonder if you'd prefer to visit another place instead or just completely remove burning mountain from the itinerary? Best regards, Eltaj Muradli - Baku Tours by Baku Explorer
