I booked this tour as it had a range of unique destinations that are a must-see when in Baku. I was especially keen to see the rock art in Gobustan National Park. It did not disappoint and was even better than expected, with a small and interesting museum at the entrance to the Park. We also enjoyed seeing the Fire Temple and the other sights. Taleh our guide was pleasant and helpful, and Arif at Baku City Tours answered my questions in good time via Whatsapp. Unfortunately our day did not get off to the greatest start (not the fault of Baku City Tours, although I had to double check with them because on Trip Advisor it mentions that pick-up is not from the hotel if you are near Fountains Square) when a couple of our fellow guests did not seem to know they were to be picked up at their hotel so Taleh had ro run about and leave messages trying to track them down while the rest of us sat in a hot van. Once we got going, the air con was fine. We thought that the lunch could have been better organised, e.g. if we had been able to choose from a simple menu and let the restaurant know in advance, because there was a bit of hanging about and we didn't know what the arrangements were. The food was OK but nothing special for this quite expensive trip. And because of the initial delay, I felt we were a bit rushed though the Gobustan museum. But I did think it was right to get us to the rock art as early as possible because there were a few big groups behind us, and I appreciated we avoided most of the crowds. We also visited a mosque, which was a bonus that I did not expect. Luckily I had a head scarf with me but the men in our group were able to borrow long trousers to cover their legs. Overall it was a good day seeing some amazing sights and within a reasonable time (ie not too long a day). A few tweaks would make it even better. Thank you to Taleh and our driver.

Loved this tour from start to finish. Great communication from our guide Zaur who made the tour educational but also relaxed. Air con mini van pick up and nice small group. Definately bring water and hat, it was hot. We didnt go to the oil well but i enjoyed the rock carvings and mud volcano. Zaul even filled up bottles of the mud for us to take away (mud masks)
Lunch was good, it was nice to go somewhere very traditional and filled with locals.
Even the distance between some stops was great for a wee snooze.
Zaul also helped with other restaurant recommendations and couldnt do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay in Baku
Thoroughly recommend this tour!

Gobustan cave (rock) engravings was worth visiting and our tour guide (Mr. Zaur) patiently explained it.
Mud volcanoes is one interesting place and worth visiting.
We were there with an infant boy and he fell on the mud. Zaur, not helped us getting the boy cleaned he lifted the kid himself. This showed his willingness and caring towards the guest and especially towards the kid.
We then moved to Yanardag (fire emits from the rocks), another interesting place to visit.
We had to cut down the tour, as our son was tired (it was hot and sunny) and Zaur arranged us transport back to our hotel. Which again showed his eagerness to help us reach hotel at the earliest.

To sum it up. The trip and the places were worth visiting. And the team made it easier for us, adhering and understanding to our concerns !

The stops on this tour were so unique and like nothing I had seen or done before. I highly recommend anyone visiting Baku to do a day trip and see these sites as they are really worth it. Seeing the natural gas fires, mud volcanoes and real cave paintings were big highlights. The reason I gave only 3 stars is because of the guide and the lunch. The guide (sorry I can’t remember his name) just didn’t “guide” us. From the beginning, he didn’t tell us anything or explain anything about the day. We drove past multiple attractions in Baku that he was supposed to point out and he didn’t. We never knew where we were going next or how long the drives would take. He didn’t tell us that we would be driving through slippery mud for half an hour with a man who only spoke Russian and who expected a big tip. He didn’t tell us if we would be out in the cold for a long or short time. Whenever we asked questions, he only answered with weird jokes and didn’t actually answer anything. He didn’t tell us what time the lunch would be and it ended up being at 3:30 only because we started complaining about how hungry we were and it was originally going to be later! The lunch place was a buffet and had almost ran completely out of food. The food was microwaved and not very nice. Overall I highly recommend the tour for the sites visited but I would suggest finding another tour that offers the same places with a more organised guide.

Hello Dear , Thanks for your feedback, we do appreciate your honest opinion, it helps us to develop and grow! It's really hard to find a reliable partner in tourism business, who are as responsible as our company. Because of few complains about our new guide we have decided to work with new one.

The visit was very interesting. Samir our guide is very experienced, keen on history and also full of humor, he explained everything in great detail, then we always had 20 minutes to take the pictures we wanted. The meal was delicious and served in a traditional restaurant next to the Atesgah.
It is important to have good walking shoes and to protect your head and eyes in the middle of summer, the sun is beating down hard.
Thanks also to Nigar and Arif who are both very professional.
I recommend this travel agency.

We had unexpected business trip to Baku, I wanted to make sure to see all the major city highlights.

Baku City Tours came up with a quick internet search as being extremely well-reviewed and affordable priced. I decided to go with an existing company, given the short notice, to prevent any last-minute cancellations or delayed scheduling. Within minutes I made online booking through their website.

A great young man named Arif picked us up at our hotel. Extremely friendly, skilful, and versatile. He was a pleasure hanging out with for 7 hours (and would have stayed longer if we hadn't had to go). His English was perfect and he put together a wonderful itinerary, tailored to our needs. He knew everything else about Baku

The guide spoke fluent English and the driver made sure we arrived safely and in time.

This tour is really worth your time and money. Although we didn't stop at the first industrialized oil well in Baku and the restaurant Halal Süfrə is really traditional.
Zaur (tourguide) really knows alot about the history and tells enthusiastic about his country. He arranged some clothes so we were properly dressed to visit the mosque and arranged stops to buy water and food (in case you forgot to bring some).
Thanks for a wonderful day!

This was an excellent tour. The mud volcanoes, Ateshgah Fire Temple & Yanar Dag were all great, but the highlight for us was the Gobustan rock carvings & museum. The carvings & rock formations are fantastic & Shah provided us with a very informative tour of all the places & the museums. Much better than seeing them on your own.

Zaur is amongst the very best tour guides…
Good knowledge of the key sites, an understanding of historical context, and an ability to make it engaging and interesting for all.

A really good day out when in Baku. Make sure to take plenty of water for the journey, it can be very hot in summer!

Visiting the carvings at Qobustan was a highlight… you’ll hear some very interesting stories!

5 stars!

Thanks, Zaur!
