- 1Khor Virap – Armenian monastery, built in 642, translated from Armenian means “deep hole”. Khor Virap is one of the shrines of the Armenian Apostolic Church, a place of pilgrimage. The most interesting fact of this monastery is the fact that it was built on the site of the royal prison, where Gregory the Illuminator was previously imprisoned – the patron saint and the first official head of the Armenian Apostolic Church by the Armenian king for 13 years. From the territory of the monastery there is an unusual view of the biblical mountain Ararat.

- Trbeamon0 contributionsAmazing Experience in ArmeniaHands down one of the best experiences I have ever had with a touring company. Sargis was super knowledgeable and passionate about the history he shared, and Arthur was a fantastic driver. They were on-time, professional and always ensured that I felt comfortable and safe. The office itself was communicative and super easy to work with. They are my first choice for any future tours and transport needs. I was able to experience their airport transfer service, full-day tour and local Yerevan tour as well. Great company and team!Written November 13, 2024

Our 3 hour trip to see Mt Ararat was our favorite experience of our one-week vacation of Caucasus region. Not just because the stunning views we saw during this tour, but mainly because of our amazing driver/ tour guide Samuel.
Samuel taught us about the Armenian culture and was happy to answer our questions about Armenian history and current events. He showed us such kindness and hospitality, treating us like old friends rather than tourists. It was evident that he wanted our experience during the tour (and in Armenia) to be as memorable and positive as possible.
We highly recommend this tour and our guide Samuel. When we return to Armenia we would definitely book another trip with (Jan Armenia Tours & Travel) and ask that Samuel joins us.
