What to expect
  • You will be picked up from your hotel where the tour will start at 10am and last approximately 4-5 hours. The first stop is Garni, a Pagan Temple referred to as the well known symbol of pre-Christian Armenia that was converted into a royal summer house. After exploring the grand structure you will then stop at Ararat ARC where we'll have a fantastic view to mount Ararat, a snow capped dormant volcano situated in Turkey. From here you will visit the UNESCO listed Geghard Monastery Complex. Some of the churches are situated in caves, whilst others are dug out of the surrounding rock face. Excellent tour with a warm, insightful guide
Jun 2019 • Family
Our day trip to Garni and Geghard was memorable. Our guide, Nvard, was knowledgeable and friendly. We had a comfortable journey to both places listening to general information about Armenia. At the sites, she not only provided detailed information about Garni and Geghard but also went out of her way to facilitate our experience e.g by singing beautifully inside one of the chambers of the monastery to demonstrate how the acoustics work. When I asked her about a museum in Arindj that I had read about, she not only gave me information about it but also took us there for no extra charge. It was a wonderful way to experience a bit of Armenia and I hope we will see more of the country with her.

History that is hard for Americans to fathom

A short drive out of Yerevan, Armenia is a faithfully reconstructed Temple originally constructed during the first century AD. This is the only “Pagan Temple” in the First Nation to be “decreed” a Christian Nation. By being designated the tomb of the King who issued the Christian decree, this is the only Temple remaining in the country.
