This is the second tour I booked on my second visit to Armenia. I hesitated to book it at first, since I was not encouraged by most of Armenian friends who said it might not be worth it. I am glad I booked it eventually.
Gyumri is a very special city with history going back a couple thousands of years. It is basically an open air museum with old buildings showcasing the very special Gyumri urban style. This city has been through a lot and you can see it, but it managed to stay standing and preserve its heritage. A must for all history and culture lovers.
Our guide Tigran was amazing as always. It was my second tour with Tigran and he did not disappoint. He is very knowledgeable and is always ready to answer all questions. Very friendly and cool guy. I always love touring with him as guide.
Our driver Mavrig is a real champion. He made the ride to Gyumri very smooth, even when it started suddenly raining. He was navigating those winding roads like a pro. Kudos to him!

We enjoyed the tour just because of Khachik (our tour guide) for sure. I must say that Hyur is the best in service for the tours around Armenia.
If you ever decide to tour within Armenia, please do give a thought of looking into Hyur Service.
They are a professional bunch, drivers are exceptional and the service is impeccable.
Khachik has so much knowledge about the roots of Armenia, we felt like he gave us a piece of the whole country's history in just a few hours.
If you are someone who likes to wander around the city, Gyumri is the place to be, with its lively atmosphere and the busy streets you will get an experience that you might have not had before.
If you ever decide to tour within Armenia, please do give a thought of looking into Hyur Service.

Excellent tour guide and driver that they provided ghe warm and entertaining experience for us during the whole tour. The tour guide Arevik was very knowledgeable and informative beside her extraordinary singing talent. Also, thr driver Mais was really safe driver.

Having done many trips with Hyer in 2008 and 2010, I am now back for my third visit to Armenia. Again I went to Hyer to look for a nice trip, this time to Gyumri, the second largest city in Armenia. As always Hyer delivers a perfect travel experience with a comfortable mini-bus, a very skilled and experienced guide and overall a very efficiently organized trip. Thumbs up!

Overall great experience, recommended if you are looking for something beyond the beaten path. The program was well designed, was interesting and informative. The Harijavank monastery was a pleasant surprise. The driver Mayis was wonderful. Two suggestions would be 1) to remove the museum stop. The contents of the museum were not worthwhile and the condition of the bathroom was unacceptable 2) tone down the superiority of Armenian-ness and Christian-ness. Telling the visitors to go and pray in a given church is inappropriate.

Thank you for the review! Kindly note that the museum of Gyumri is very famous among the tourists as it very nicely shows the local life. We are really sorry for the condition of toilets of the museum, it is unfortunately out of our control. As for your second point, we are indeed agree with your opinion and mostly our guides keep the etiquette. It's a pity to hear that this time the guide didn't. Hope to host you during our tours also in the future!

This was a very interesting and fun trip! We visited the second largest city in Armenia, Gyumri. Gyumri is about 2 hours by bus. Our first stop was the Urban Life museum, which explains the history of Gyumri. Then we went to visit the Black Fortress. Not much to see there but there are beautiful views and a statue of mother Armenia. After that we had lunch at a local restaurant. It was good with plenty of options to choose from. Then we had a city tour on foot and saw some of the well-known sites in Gyumri. Finally we went to see Harichavank, a beautiful monastery situated by a gorge. We had an awesome guide called Dikran who made the trip a lot more fun :) we also thank our driver Khatchig!

Armenia’s second-largest city, Gyumri, is the country’s historical hub & is currently rebuilding into a creative & cultural hub. Cool cafes have brought new life to the city centre of Gyumri which made exploration of the area even more enjoyable. This tour is conducted in Russian/English and our guide Tigran has been great with the lunch arrangements and providing the historical background of the sites.

This was my 4th tour with Hyur Service and I got lucky because Sunny was my guide. She guided us to Garni Temple - another tour by Hyur Service. I was surprised she remembered me :) As always, the tour ran smoothly & she mesmerized us again with her sweet singing voice. She deserves a raise! Thank you Hyur Service for your awesome tours. The landscape on the was very scenic. Miriam the tour guide was a fountain of historical knowledge. Armand the bus driver knew exactly how much room he needed to pass the bus through tight spots. Although informative this tour is probably appreciated more by Armenians who have returned to the home country for a visit. Would have appreciated a bit more agricultural information seeing as this is a large and diverse agricultural area.

I have been taking tours with Hyur service for 8 years. It's always a great experience. We just recently enjoyed our trip to Gymri with Yervand and Khachik. Yervand was very knowledgeable, with great service, going out of his way to accommodate everyone. Can't imagine anyone doing tours better. Thank you, Hyur Service, for the value you provide! It was like seeing a city in a different view, from people loving the country and their job
