Highly recommend this tour if you want an easier way to tour around Hue with limited time. It was convenient and felt exclusive with the private tour. Mr. Vu was our driver for the half day drive and we like his pleasantness and also knowledge of the area and the attraction. His English was excellent so we had a fun conversation learning about the culture and even got great restaurant recommendations that we enjoyed.

This tour is a bit more hands off where the driver picked us up from the hotel and dropped us off at different interest point without going into the attraction with us. We visited the Imperial Palace and 3 tombs of the previous kings. It's actually the perfect balance to provide us privacy to explore the attractions on our own and then feel assured that we have a ride to take us to the next destination. Mr. Vu also accommodate us by dropping us off at one of his restaurant recommendation and we enjoyed a pleasant supper.

The vehicle was clean and kept us cooled down despite a 100F weather. Mr. Vu proactively tried to keep his car cooled for our arrival after battling the sun and heat from different attractions.

Last thing is the next day we had a rough time getting the train from Hue to Danang and Hoi An since it was fully booked. We contacted Mr. Vu to see if his tour company could provide last minute driver to take us from Hue to Danang and recommended that we take the tour with stops from Hue all the way to Hoi An which worked out even better than the train. He directed us to his company and guided us to book another driver, saving us from being stranded in Hue and even got a better view of the mountain pass as well as sightseeing all the way to Hoi An.

If you’re looking for a private car to tour Huế, look no further
Fantastic air conditioned car and Thanh was a helpful and ebullient tour guide and very happy to share his knowledge and enthusiasm.

Just to clarify, he’ll share info with you about the sites you’re going to but won’t accompany you to the sites themselves (which is just as well since he can start the A/C before you walk back to the car).

He had a restaurant recommendation for a place to eat during lunch but wasn’t super pushy and we decided to eat somewhere in town (which we’d recommend doing).

For reference, travelled as a pair of 30 something friends from the UK.

Be aware that the pricing for this is per person, not per tour as I originally thought so for two people it came to roughly £56. It also does NOT include entry tickets to the sites which cost approximately 530K VND (4 sites covered which is all of them on this tour; approximately £19) nor lunch (no more than £3-4). You are however given a free bottle of water and a very excellent driver and tour guide in the form of Mr Nguyen Thanh.

We had limited time in Hue which was why we booked this in order to make things easier in terms of seeing all the sites. In all honesty, half a day that is all you really need to see Hue before you are all "mausoleum'd out". What you're essentially paying for is convenience more than anything else which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I would say if you are willing to walk approximately 30 mins from downtown Hue, you can actually see the citadel for yourself and it's not all that strenuous a walk, which had I realised, I might have elected to not take this tour as that was one of the significant portions of the tour although I would have msised out on some of the history our tourguide gave us.

Mr Thanh has an excellent command of English (given his wife is an English teacher) and was a great tour guide. He helped us with getting to a reputable jewellery shop at the end of our tour to exchange money, and even took photos of us in the classical conical hats. We were taken to an incense factory to have the photos taken but we were by no means pressured to purchase anything which was a pleasant surprise. If we had some cash we probably would have bought something.

The only downside was the food which was okay but obviously catered to tourists and pretty inauthentic coming from a singaporean who recognised the instant noodles used. It was tasty nonetheless!

If you have limited time in Hue and want a quick way to see all the sites, I would recommend this tour, if only because Mr Thanh was really lovely, very knowledgeable and we had a great time with him.

The most amazing private tour of gorgeous Hue!
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Thanh throughout the historical sites of this ancient area. He’s new to the company but certainly not to the history of this town. It was a non stop history lesson for us and we both agreed that we couldn’t have done Hue any better. He told us tidbits about each stop and some of the local anecdotes, lots of laughs had!

I would recommend bringing about 1,000,000 cash or more for 2 as we didn’t have enough but this is where the amazing service really shines through. While we were exploring Minh Mangs grounds/tomb he sent a taxi into town to retrieve cash for us and leant us money until we went back into town! As he thought the ATM’s were too far away and we would miss seeing some of the temples/tombs!

He also recommended a lovely lunch and made sure my partner got to make incense!

We really enjoyed his jovial attitude and the music he played that his wife had made for him 😂 if you’re going to visit Hue then I couldn’t recommend this tour enough. Prompt, polite, and went above and beyond!

Great day with Trung! He is very friendly and polite, telling us a bite more about the places we were going to see and also opening the car doors each time we went in and out. He also went the extra mile to drop us off at the train station, to lend us some money before finding an ATM and he offered multiple bottles of water in between activities. You should definitely book this tour with him!

Complete tour, great guide
We had been looking for a tour of Hue to include the imperial citadel and all the Royal tombs. This tour was great as unlike other tours we saw only visited some of the tombs whereas this tour we got to see everything.

Our guide Thanh, who we really recommend, was very knowledgeable and spoke English very well which made it easy to understand the history of the sights we saw. He made sure we went at our pace and did not rush us at any point. He even went above and beyond with recommendations for places to eat during our stay which really paid off too.

If you only have a short time in Hue then this tour is good to cover all the major sights and with a private car it makes travelling at your own pace a real advantage over a group tour.

Highly recommend way to get to the sites of Hue

We couldn’t have done it without Toàn. We only had a half a day in Hue. ( I would recommend a longer stay) As the old capital it has lots of history. We got to see several tombs , the citadel and the pagoda. We did the recorded audioguide at the sites but Toàn told us about different aspects of the city, Vietnam and his life as we drove. He drove safely with a smile and a warm welcoming attitude. He dropped us off at the site and would promptly pick us up when I sent him a WhatsApp message.
A full day would be much better but a half day is what we had. I highly recommend Toàn he made our stay in Hue a real treat

Fantastic Tour of Hue

Tour Operator is Stop and Go. We did an afternoon tour with Thanh, who brought us around Hue and gave very interesting and detailed explanations about the history and culture of the city. He was an excellent driver, who showed up early for the tour and did not hesitate when it came to attending to our needs. Many thanks to Thanh and Stop and Go for a safe and excellent experience in Hue.

Affordable (air con!) luxury way of seeing the tombs
I never hire a driver for a day so this was a luxury for me - but it was an affordable luxury and it was well worth it! Mr Trung was friendly, chatty and a smooth punctual driver, and he made the whole trip super easy, providing water and a stop at the end for a quick local meal. I would definitely recommend Mr Trung and I would book him again. I walked 6.9 miles covering those tombs in the sweltering 35 degree humid heat (The Citadel and Tu Duc being the most interesting I thought; The Pagoda and Khai Dinh the least) so having an aircon car to jump into probably saved my life!

A splendid way to see Hue Imperial City with a great driver

Wow - this was an incredible and worthwhile experience in Hue. Our driver, Dung was fantastic and shared his knowledge about the tombs, pagoda, and the imperial city which made our visits quite meaningful. We also appreciated that Dung showed us a great lunch spot and recommended great local food dishes (today's lunch was the best lunch I have had in Vietnam over the last week I have been traveling in Hanoi and HCMC). I 100% recommend this tour and recommend asking for Dung to be your guide
