About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- mawerai0 contributionsWe couldnt wipe the smiles off our facesAn awesome experience made even better thanks to our guide Daisy. Getting to be amongst the history and culture specific to the floating markets was eye opening and exciting. Floating along, and pulling up to another small boat for a delicious fresh hot breakfast prepared right there, I was giddy. Taking in the sights, and being welcomed onto a lovely family's boat for tea and fresh fruit, what an honour. Just that alone would've been enough for us, but we got to follow up with visiting the local rice noodle business, and dabbled in making rice noodles. The staff make the experience fun, we laughed a lot. The cacao farm was awe inspiring seeing the techniques and tools they use to process their cacao beans into cocoa and other cocoa products. The whole experience was made that much better with a guide who seems to adore her country, and love to share her knowledge. We enjoyed our time so much we had to keep the day going and carried on to the natural reserve in Can Tho. So glad we didn't let the early morning wake up deter us.Written September 24, 2024
- MichaelL117650 contributionsBest tour guide in VietnamGreat floating market tour. Our wonderful tour guide, Edward and boat operator whose name translates to “water” were great. Edward’s incredible personality, perfect English, great sense of humour and intimate knowledge of the market, canals, boats and people on the river made it a truly unforgettable morning in Vietnam.Written September 22, 2024

- 357phaedram0 contributionsExcellent guideThe 5 star rating is 100% due to our guide Lang. This young and enthusiastic guy really does his utmost to make the trip worthwhile. Thank you Lang and all the succes in your life! The trip itself was disappointing though. We had to get up very early but instead of looking at a busy market we mainly looked at other tourists. The nature is ok but there is litter everywhere. This will not be better with other tours. On the contrary, we were lucky to have a very small group.Written August 20, 2024
- sertaro0 contributionsBeautiful and relaxing way to see the floating market and learn about the local life around the mekong deltait was a beautiful and relaxing tour. We had a great time and our tour guide Edward was very knowledgable. In only two days we visited, brick, coconut candy, chocolate and noodle factories, we cycled along leafy pathways, cooked Vietnamese pancakes and visited the amazing floating market at dawn.highly recommended !Written August 11, 2024

- 338gordonm0 contributionsA most enjoyable morning!Very enjoyable morning with my guide Lâm, extremely friendly and informative. We started out at 5:30 am, which is definitely the thing to do. The itinerary was fairly standard (noodle breakfast at the floating market, visit a home on a boat, visit a noodle factory, visit the chocolate factory––but the conversations about the region and the country made it very special. Also, Lâm has invested a good deal of energy in mastering the various stages of the tour which impressed me. I read of many of these tours and saw quite a few while we were on our, but I feel very fortunate to have chosen Fabulous Mekong Eco Tours and to have had Lâm as my guide. Highly recommended!Written August 7, 2024
- 338gordonm0 contributionsHidden Gem on the Mekong Delta Tour CircuitI had an extraordinary afternoon with my guide Thi, who is well educated and speaks excellent English, full of stories and information which I found special even after weeks of travel through Vietnam. The drive from Can Tho is 40 mins and this afforded opportunity for conversation. In addition to the boat into the canals of the nature reserve (for a gorgeous opportunity to see a hidden gem in the Mekong Delta) we also climbed a viewpoint tower, visited a rice field, observed hundreds of ducks being herded, enjoyed fresh coconut and banana chips. The time was both restful and stimulating--and completely void of tourists and the clog of boats found elsewhere. A highlight of my time in the country––highly recommended. Thank you, Thi and Mekong Eco tours, for a great experience!Written August 7, 2024

I'd asked the operators the day before whether the tour should be cancelled due to the rain, but was told it'd be ok, the rain had stopped. It was not ok. It started raining again as the car drove us to Can Tho. Got to Can Tho, met our guide Tom who was great, but the weather was not. It had now become very windy and was a real downpour. Got put onto a small wooden boat with no lifejackets (other larger boats/tours all had them), and the most piddling little engine possible. So the boat trip to the market was longggg as we kept getting pushed by bigger tour boats and the wind, almost zigzagging our way there. Got pelted with torrential rain the whole time and ponchos had no chance. Tom advised that normally it rains in the afternoon, not the morning so it was abnormal for such an experience.
Anyway, we got to the market and all the boats were covered in plastic due to the rain and the only boats doing business were 2 small ones that were part of the tour, providing us food (noodles) and a hot coffee. Not what we expected of a floating market. The market is the main highlight of the tour so it was annoying that the operators knew all the boats would shut during rain but let us wake at 2am, travel the 4 hours there, spend 30mins in the rain on a small boat, and see basically nothing but covered boats. And that doesn't even take into account having to do it all again back to HCMC.
The noodle making workshop was very average. Basically got shown some dried rice flour sitting on bamboo mats in a couple of stacks, as well as a machine used to cut them into noodle shapes.
The cocoa farm was more interesting, especially the owner.
The ride through the waterways getting to the noodle factory and coca farm was alright. You know those waterways you see next to roads, and are common everywhere? Those are the waterways. So expect lots of plastic and styrofoam floating around you.
The rain eased up for the rest of the day but never stopped.
If you are planning this tour during rainy season, I'd strongly advise against it. Our guide was great. The boat could've been good on a nice day. But if it's rainy season, don't do it, especially for how much it costs!

Dear value guest,
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback regarding your recent tour experience. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience caused due to the unexpected rain and unfavorable weather conditions throughout your trip.
We understand that the operators assured you that the rain had stopped and it would be fine to proceed with the tour. We deeply regret that this information turned out to be inaccurate and that you had to endure such adverse weather conditions during your boat trip to Can Tho. Ensuring the safety and comfort of our guests is of utmost importance to us, and we apologize for any discomfort caused by the lack of life jackets and the smaller engine on the boat. Your concerns regarding these aspects have been duly noted, and we will address them with our team to ensure improvements for future tours.
We also apologize for the inconvenience caused by the lack of activity at the floating market due to the rain. We understand that this was a major highlight for you, and we regret that the operators did not take the necessary measures to inform you about the possibility of limited operations during inclement weather. We apologize for any frustration caused by this oversight.
Regarding the noodle making workshop, we apologize for the average experience you had. Your feedback regarding the presentation and the limited exposure to the noodle-making process has been duly noted, and we will review this aspect to ensure a more engaging experience for our guests in the future.
We're glad to hear that you found the cocoa farm and the owner more interesting. Your positive feedback regarding these parts of the tour is greatly appreciated, and we will be sure to pass it onto the relevant team.
Once again, we sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your tour, and we truly appreciate your understanding of the weather conditions being beyond our control. We highly value your feedback as it helps us improve our services to provide a better experience for all our guests.
Should you decide to visit us again in the future, please do reach out to us directly, and we would be more than happy to address any concerns and make suitable arrangements for your tour.
Thank you for choosing our tour, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
Warm regards,

The tour was really cool and perfect if you're in Saigon. You have to get up early, but it's well worth it. You're picked up and get on the boat at around 5:30 a.m. The sun is just rising and you drive around between the boats of the floating market. We also visited a rice noodle factory and a cocoa plantation. Breakfast was included and was prepared on the floating market. We would book the tour again and again. Our guide Edward spoke great English and had an answer to all of our questions.

We booked the tour as a group and were immediately impressed. The three of us spent the whole morning on a small boat with our guide, Edward, and our boatman.
From breakfast on the water at sunrise, to making rice noodles, to tasting cocoa and buying our own cocoa/chocolate, nothing was left out!
Our guide, Edward, was able to get us right into the middle of market life despite the early hours.
At the end of the tour, we were able to taste pineapples on a trader's houseboat.
A very well-rounded tour - we'd love to do it again! Edward was always keen to answer all questions 😊

We took the Can Tho market tour with an early morning pickup in HCMC, the tour was wonderful from the very start until our drop off in the afternoon.
Lily and Daniel we great hosts and guides, they're happy to share the stories of the folks in the market and to get you up close to a fading little bit of real Vietnam, as the floating markets are slowly replaced by conventional roadside markets.
We loved getting to meet folks, learn about their lives, get to taste the foods of the market, and take in the beauty of the Mekong delta. Unlike larger boats, this tour gets you into the market, Lily knows the vendors and she'll introduce and share stories.
Vietnam is really a beautiful country, and this experience was one of the highlights of our visit.

We were picked up directly from the hotel in HCM, and we were able to book the transfer through the tour organizers. At sunrise we were already sitting in a boat on the river in the Mekong Delta and were then among the first visitors to the floating market. We had breakfast right on the boat and the rice noodle production and cocoa farm were super interesting and the chocolate was super delicious. Our guide Edward was very helpful and friendly. Definitely recommended!

What an absolutely amazing experience being able to explore the Cai Rang Floating Markets. It was an early 2:30am start from Saigon but it was well worth the day trip. We had breakfast inside the boat on the floating market and also visited a rice noodle factory and cocoa farm as well. Our tour guide Ngan was very friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting a truly authentic Vietnamese experience!

Excellent tour. Worth the early pickup. Our driver picked us up 0230, we were on our boat at 0500, had a wonderful breakfast at the floating market in our boat, then we toured some channels, our boat driver picked some fruit for us and made us some crowns from palm leaves. We also visited a noodle making place and coca farm. Our guide was Ngan, her English was great and she was very informative. Our drive home was a little longer, but we had a private car with A/C so well worth the money!!
