Itinerary
- 17.45am - 8.00am Pick up at your hotel and transfer to the dock, boat rides along Saigon River (approx. 1hr15m) Arrive at Cu Chi tunnel. Upon arrival, before exploring the tunnels, you will have some short introduction followed by introductory video about how the tunnels were constructed and how the people survived in the harsh conditions of the war time. Then, spend your time to explore the remaining area and tunnel systems which included the special constructed living areas with kitchens, bedrooms side by side with other martial facilities like storage, weapons factories, field hospitals, and command centers helping whoever lives inside the tunnels meet their basic needs. Besides, there are also many hidden trap doors and dangerous traps within the maze-like tunnels for security purpose during the war. Afterward, special tea and cassava (guerilla’s food during the war) will be served. Break time for relax or time for those who want to try the real shooting gun. Have lunch. Return to Saigon by bus. 15.00pm Finish your Cu Chi Tunnel Waterway Trip.

- AdventuresOnPlanet0 contributionsThis was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the struggles Vietnamese people had while defending themselvesThroughout the trip, it is difficult to walk through the tunnels for a short distance. I can't even begin to understand how difficult life was then. Our tour guide gave us a detailed explanation of that history. His sense of humor lightens the mood for us and makes the journey less taxing in a polite manner.Written October 4, 2024

- jonisc20240 contributionsOur thrilling adventure at Cu Chi Tunnels!Wow! Our visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels was an absolute eye-opener! We were blown away by the intricate underground tunnels used during the Resistance war. Crawling through the narrow passages gave us a heart-pounding glimpse into the resilience of the Vietnamese people. The exhibits and demonstrations were fascinating, and we couldn't help but feel a deep respect for the ingenuity and bravery displayed here. It's a must-visit for history buffs and adventure seekers alike! We left feeling both humbled and exhilarated by this incredible testament to human perseverance.Written September 26, 2024
- Tommy5990 contributionsInteresting but possibly very confining for someThe Tunnels are not necessarily connected but scattered over a large area outside Saigon and the Makon Delt. We visited just one cluster at Cu Chi. The tunnel storage / staging areas were close to the end of the HO Che Men trail and allowed quick access for ground attack against Saigon and the US military bases. We are on a 24 day OAT tour of all of Vietnam. The Bus ride out of the city took us about to hours to go the 50 miles to this location. The tunnels are tight and dark. One of the defensive positions had small camouflaged access door, so small that Tom could not get his shoulders through it. Most of the tunnels are only 2 ft wide and three ft tall so Tom made It ok-ish through all, but at the end of one tunnel into the command room he needed help straitening up after shuffling along so long all crotched down.Written September 23, 2024
- devidpieratti0 contributionsA step in the history of mankindLike the War Remnant Museum, this place is overwhelming, the air that you breathe in this tunnels, thinking how they were living and fighting…. Meet people still affected from the Agent Orange toxicity…. Wow…. What a lesson!!!Written September 14, 2024
- devidpieratti0 contributionsLife lesson. A time travel in the pastBeautiful experience, educative and very intense. Having the opportunity to see how they were living during the war has been emotionally intense. - Explore415707809340 contributionsUnforgettable Cu ChiWe were guided by Felix from TNK and he was quite knowledgeable and passionate about his country. He explained the Vietnam war background and the guerrilla warfare beautifully. Stooping down to traverse the tunnel gave us a real experience of some of the hardships suffered by the poor victims of war. Once again Kudos to Felix for his passion, care, and knowledge.Written September 8, 2024
- TAJMAHAL0 contributionsAmazingCu Chi is best known for its historic Cu Chi Tunnels, an intricate underground network used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War. Visitors can explore the tunnels, learn about their significance, and experience a glimpse of life during wartime. The tunnels are surrounded by lush forests, making it both an educational and scenic destination. After a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, head to Viet India Restaurant, located nearby at Ban Dành. The restaurant offers a delightful fusion of Indian vegetarian flavors, prepared with pure vegetable oil, homemade ghee, and fresh yogurt and paneer. It’s the perfect place to relax and enjoy a flavorful meal after a day of exploring Cu Chi’s historical landmarks.Written September 7, 2024
- Road551512870900 contributionsCu Chi Tunnels Small Group Tour - Afternoon with KIM TravelsAmazing Tour Experience..!! Our Tour Guide for the Cu Chi Tunnels Small Group Tour by KIM Travels was Ms. Thuy [Energetic/Enthusiastic/Informative]. A Mini-Bus Picked me up at my Hotel on Time and Co-ordination/guidance with customer was perfect. The Bus was good and comfortable. Tour guide was providing constant information about the History of Vietnam war/revolution all along the way. We had a stop in the middle to visit the factory where disabled families of Operation Orange victims were working. After that we reached Cu-Chi Tunnels. Initially we were shown Brief Video Documentary and later we have visited all around leisurely and had Kasava in the end which was delicious. Even though it was drizzling a bit , but we had a nice tour. During our return we were given light snacks and a wet tissue. Overall very good experience. Recommend it.Written September 2, 2024
- robackaisla0 contributionsMagicThe trip was truly eye-opening, offering deep insights into how Vietnam fought and triumphed over the U.S. The underground tunnel network is remarkably sophisticated and a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of the Vietnamese people. Our guide was exceptional—he provided a thorough and engaging explanation of the history and significance of the war in Vietnam. I highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in understanding the powerful history and enduring spirit of VietnamWritten September 2, 2024
- Arshad M0 contributionsOur hilarious (and slightly claustrophobic) adventure at Cu ChiTalk about a tight squeeze! Our visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels was a barrel of laughs... and a few panicked "I'm stuck!" moments. We crawled through tiny passages, giggling like kids in a playground. The highlight? Trying to spot fake grass hiding booby traps - turns out we'd make terrible soldiers! The underground hospital had us joking about "worst places for a check-up." Despite the serious history, we couldn't help but find humor in our clumsy attempts to navigate this wartime maze.Written August 30, 2024
- Liddell S0 contributionsImpressive network of underground tunnelsIt was a unique glimpse into Vietnam's history and the ingenuity of the Viet Cong. We’re a family of 5 with 16, 14 & 11 yr old kids.
This was a great tour of Cu Chi tunnels. We went via speedboat which made the 1.5hr trip there more interesting. Our tour guide was fantastic with good English, funny and a good pace for kids. He gave us all the info we needed at a relatively fast pace then left time at the end for questions so we weren’t bogged down by info at every stop. His name was Mr Chi - I’ve included a photo of his card - you should ask for him to guide you!
It is incredible to see how they lived in these tunnels and what both sides had to contend with in the war (traps, tunnels, jungle warfare).
A must do in Saigon!

Fantastic day out. Went on a tour with les rives to the cu chi tunnels. The service was great, pick up at 7.00am in nice air condition van and taken to the port to get on speed boat. Food was served along with fruit and cold drinks whilst we travel 1.15 minutes to get to the tunnels.
It was such an amazing experience with a good English speaking tour guide who shared all her knowledge. Once the tour was complete lunch was served with a good range of foods to choose from.
The boat ride back was a little more interesting given that we ended up in the middle of a storm but again tour guides were quick to hand out ponchos!
Highly recommend this service as nothing was too much trouble

The tunnels are something most tourists do. You need about 90 minutes at the tunnels. It shows the determination of the VC and conditions they were willing to endure. One of the better attractions in Saigon Vietnam. The boat ride makes it a nice outing. About a one hour ride each way, smooth and better than a BUS!!

We did the trip to Cu Chi Tunnels via speed boat which I would totally recommend. It is the fastest and coolest way to get there. The tunnels themselves are incredible. The history and the ingenuity of the Vietnamese people is beyond belief. Even if you are claustrophobic you can get a great understanding of the way the tunnels worked and the way they lived.
Do not go to Ho Chi Minh and miss this experience.

We ended up going to and from the tunnels via bot as the bus was not working which was OK.
The tunnels are interesting especially for people from outside Vietnam who may have only seen the allied stories. Tour guide was entertaining and the boat and driver were good.

Enjoyable trip. Ann, our guide was excellent, answering any questions and generally looking after "her family" really well.
Loved the boat trip up the river, and the tunnels themselves are an amazing experience. It was slightly crowded, though, and as such the tour had to be organised amongst the other tour groups around. Our group of 10 was a great size and far more intimate than some of the larger groups around.
Lunch was good, without being excellent, but I was a little surprised that we were expected to pay for drinks.
Return trip by bus was a bit disorganised...one minute we were on a bus, then we had to wait in the heat. It all meant we weren't back until well after 3pm.
Overall, a good trip that I would recommend

The ride up the river is great. Our guide and driver provided commentary on the way. We got there early before the crowds. When we came out of the tunnel area, the hoards had arrived - really glad we got there early. Best to go with a guide who can tell you about the place. The trip back ont eh boat included fruit and cold drinks. Well worth it.

Visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels is the one thing to do when you are in Ho Chi Min City. This tour brings you there fast and comfortable with great sightseeing over the river. We were picked up in a bus from our hotel that brought us together with other tourists to the harbor. The boat is fast (200 HP) and has a good captain with 2 staff member and brings you in 1-1,5 hours to Cu Chi tunnels. The guide is knowledgeable and speaks English properly and is with you in the bus, boat and at the tunnels. At Cu Chi you will first see an old movie explaining (low quality) what happend in the Vietnam war as seen from the eyes of the Vietnamese people (which is different from what we have seen in US movies - for a good reason). Next you will walk through the jungle and visit all kinds of areas that have to do with tunnels (Workshops, kitchen etc) and you have the opportunity to go through the tunnels yourself (slightly bigger for tourists). That is nice to do when you are below 190 cm tall. At the end of the tour you have the option to shoot with serious weapons, but actually I do not understand why they offer this given the fact that the purpose of all this is to show the painful consequences of war. The tour ends with a good lunch. Then you will be brought home with a bus or by boat when you pay an additionally amount. Please note that at least for me that was not clearly communicated in the tour description.

This place gave us an understanding about how the Vietnam War was fought in the 60s. Most of it recreated but was fascinating. these were hand dug tunnels. One cud even crawl through 2 tunnels (optional ofcourse) to get the "feel" on exactly what it was to be crawling in & out of them.
Only downside was we reached there at 3 in the afternoon so it was beastly HOT.
Do not forget to carry water and wear light clothes if travelling there in April-May.
This is definetly a must visit place.

Can't remember, but about 1/1.30? Even 2? The minibus drops the boatload of people back at their various hotels... so I guess it depends where everyone is staying. Hope helpful.
