      Mekong Navigator a premium all-inclusive river cruise.(Family with 20 yr old )
We spent 13 days in Southeast Asia with our adult daughter, which included a wonderful cruise on the Mekong Navigator. The ship was fantastic. It’s design in French Colonial and was impeccable. We had a Vista Suite, which was one of the simpler suites, but still better than premium suites on other ships. A key to this ship is it was all inclusive and they meant it. Unlike other “all inclusive” travel we’ve had before, all the meals, plus local beer and quality wine, were all included as were all the excursions. While on board we found out that this was the first sailing under Lotus. Though the ship has always been owned by Lotus, it had been contracted by Uniworld, but now sails as a Lotus Cruise ship. I’m not sure how the staff could have been better than the crew we had. Our wait staff were All pleasant. All attentive. We celebrated my wife’s birthday on board. That morning I asked our cruise director if we could get something special. That evening there was a gourmet chocolate, made from scratch by the kitchen staff. It didn’t just look good; it was a delightful cake. In our cabin, the room was always taken care of, beer and soft drinks always in the fridge, and you only asked once for something and the rest of the trip it was there…extra towels, blanket, and a choice of four different kinds of pillow. We had people on board from the USA, Australia, Germany, Italy, South Korea and India. Ages from 23-75. Do we recommend the Lotus Cruses and the Mekong Navigator…absolutely!

Viking 15-day Mekong River Cruise - Ha Long Bay to Saigon
Oh what an adventure! December is a good month as hot weather cools down a bit, but still plan to sweat plenty! This is an adventurous, ACTIVE tour (and not a vacation as our excellent guide "Bob" Tuyen Nguyen often reminded us). Typical schedule is up at 6am, Tai chi on the deck at 6:30 followed by breakfast, then out at 8 for touring until 11:30; return for lunch and break, then out again at 2 for touring until 5pm. Return and dinner at 7 followed by movies or lectures or entertainment. It's a busy day and all the sites are interesting and educational. We visited markets, weaving villages, fish farm, brick factory, museums, historical sites like Hanoi Prison and the Killing Fields. We did both the Ha Long Bay and Bangkok extensions which were excellent. All the ground hotels were excellent Five-Star properties. Many people got sick with diarrhea and upper respiratory illness, despite how careful we all were. One was hospitalized for over two weeks.

      An Experience to Remember
This AMA river cruise which included optional pre and post cruise activity lasting sixteen days provided an amazing opportunity to visit sites in Vietnam and Cambodia, including not only cities and points of great historical significance but also small village communities. We had the chance to visit individual homes and farms as well as markets and workshops. The exceptional guides shared deep insights as well as their personal stories to help us understand the background to what we were seeing and their lives today. Thanks to the great tour guide and amazing attention to detail everything ran smoothly. Both on the boat and in the three hotels we enjoyed a first class experience with personal attention and wonderful food and entertainment.

      Fantastic trip
We did a two night 2 day cruise on Bassac 3 with friends at it was excellent . First up the staff are great very helpful always smiling .. Tran was part of the staff our host on board and she was outstanding And very knowledgeable about everything The food at every meal was excellent and was so nice eating on the open deck The rooms were fine and compact with good air con !! and a great shower designed into a small bathroom but that’s all you needed .. the reality is you spend most of the time in deck The journey was full of activities and they were good to get a real feel in life on the Mekong so there is lots to do along with just sitting in deck relaxing and watching the activities on the Mekong !! A really great few days and highly recommended

      FANTASTIC CRUISE
This was our first Cruise on the Emerald Waterways - Harmony Starship. It was excellent - the accommodation (Owners Suite was faultless) - the Crew were so helpful - food excellent - the Tours well organised and always on time. We had an amazing experience. Started in Saigon (Vietnam) and finished in Siem Reap (Cambodia). Highlights were a Vietnam River Safari into a protected area. A night-time Tuk Tuk tour in Phnom Penh which was brilliant and something we would have never done on our own. Plus a tour on The Tonle Sap (biggest Lake in East Asia) where there are over 170 floating villages. We toured one which was so unique and a very different experience. The Temples in Siem Reap were amazing with a full guided tour of Ankor Wat at sunrise. I could go on......as you have no doubt realised by now it was brilliant trip and we are already thinking of our next Emerald Tour!

      Absolutely wonderful cruise
This was the first time we had ever been on a cruise, well the whole package was amazing. We were spoilt, looked after and wanted for nothing. The crew were so very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Both my husband and I are disabled and knew We would not be able to do every tour from the onset. Some of the disembarkation sites were very basic. But we loved the fact that the other passengers would find us out and tell us about the things they had seen in a friendly and informative way. When we did the land visits everyone, crew and passengers were so helpful. It was so much fun and so interesting to be educated in a different way of life. The guides went over the top to inform you. The food , well it was so good and again the crew couldn't do enough. The waiters soon realised I was uncomfortable sat at the table and so they provided a cushion for my back for every meal. For those who want it there is Wi-Fi everywhere on board other than when we were somewhere remote. I found that the whole ship became family, we all liked out for each other and the whole experience was first class. 5+* to the Amadara

      Wouldn’t recommend this provider
Unfortunately lots of things went wrong with this tour! We booked many weeks prior and emailed and confirmed pick up details. Then as soon as we arrived in town we confirmed again and had our hotel call to confirm. The next morning the bus didn’t arrive. The hotel kept calling the tour company and was told repeatedly they were on their way. After nearly an hour late our hotel called the company again and this time was told the bus was not coming and instead asked us to catch a taxi to the depot to catch up with the tour bus. We were told that the taxi would be paid for by the company. As soon as we gave address to the taxi driver he yelled at our concierge as the address was wrong!! After two more phone calls the address was checked and off we went. Half way there we realised the taxi was lost, driver was very mad and asking locals where to go. I eventually googled the depot address and helped the taxi driver. When we arrived at the tour office we were treated like we were the ones who got lost and caused the delay and were even asked to pay the taxi ourselves. We refused! When we boarded the bus we found our group had been kept waiting for the hour in the bus! They were quite angry to see us as they had been told we were lost and held them up!!! The tour itself was quite boring, the guide was pleasant but there were very little talking due to language barrier. The lunch was poor quality leaving us and other guests hungry. One guest near us ordered a drinking coconut and it was practically empty on arrival. She complained to the tour guide who then admitted it was probably one of the staff half drunk ones!!! They finished off the tour with some very average Karaoke..... the group was well and truly waiting to go home at this point.

      APT River cruise
We travelled on the RV Amalotus with APT. The cruise was delightful, ship was very well maintained, clean and the staff and tour guides first class. Your cabins were very roomy and well set out. Meals were 5 star all the time. One thing that stands out, the ships staff look after you 24/7, before you start a tour you are well briefed the night before and any other information is presented in your daily news letter, (just like a sea cruise). One tip, if you can't handle very hot and humid weather think twice in going.

LAN Diep CF Mekong Luxury River Cruise
We had such a wonderful time on the LAN Diep (CF Mekong Luxury River Cruise). It was the trip of a lifetime. The staff was excellent: friendly and professional. The food was excellent. The tours were excellent. Lidy was amazing. So knowledgeable. She always went the extra mile to make things wonderful. Narott was very good too. He was especially knowledgeable about the Buddhist temples that we went to. Bao was amazing too. He was everything special you would want in a tour guide. We loved having him guide us on the Mekong and in SAigon. It was absolutely amazing having our own private guide (and sometimes a driver). We felt like celebrities! A special mention of the Cu Chi tunnels - they should be on everyone’s list. They are definitely worth the trip. Thanks again. I will be sure to recommend your cruise ship to others.

      Full day Mekong Delta tour
On the tour we listen to a native group sing local songs to the accompaniment of some local instruments,we sipped tea with honey collected from local hives. We then traveled in row boats amid the narrow channels of the swamp.Next, we visited a small candy factory, - the guide explaining how the main ingredient was coconut from the surrounding trees. The coconut was cooked into a taffy, cooled, cut, wrapped in rice paper (which was edible) and wrapped further into commercial paper The tour was english speaking guide and of special mention was our guide into the Mekong Delta region. His name was Tom and he is the perfect guide to have - very informative about the places and also about Vietnamese history. He was very witty and kept the whole party in good humour all through.Every once in a while, when the journey was threatening to become somewhat long,by chance you happen to draw him as your guide, you will surely enjoy your time. All of the services or all parts in locals in tour was exactly on time and well organised from the guide. We highly recommed Mekong Delta Trip at Kim Travel Company and Kim Travel Luxury Group Tour was a best choice if you wana want to get really so much more for your exploring and spend wonderful time on your journey. Thanks and Good Bye Kim Travel.

Mekong River on the M/V Mekong Navigator by Emerald Waterways
As part of a 19 day Vietnam & Cambodia Explorer package put together by Emerald Waterways, we were on a 7 day Mekong River cruise on the M/V Mekong Navigator. The Mekong Navigator has 4 levels with a maximum capacity for about 69 passengers. The 1st or bottom deck has the crew & passenger cabins with portholes, from around mid-ship towards the stern & bow respectively. The 2nd deck has the passenger cabins with balconies, from around mid-ship towards the bow, while the dining room is from around mid-ship towards the stern. The 3rd deck has a small boutique shop & pursers’ office sandwich between passenger cabins with balconies that are located from mid-ship towards the bow & stern respectively. The lounge is located on the 4th deck stern area, while the spa/gym, library/computer room is located in the bow area. The bridge is also located on the 4th deck bow. In the mid-ship area of the 4th deck is a sitting/sunning area. There is air condition, but only in the enclosed pubic areas (restaurant, lounge, etc.) & cabins, not in the hallways. Wi-fi, although sporadic, is only available in the public areas. There are no elevators on this boat. We elected a cabin with a porthole on the 1st deck. Our room was larger than that of the Avalon boats with porthole or French balcony, which we have had before. I believe it was even larger than the cabins with balconies we’ve had on ocean going ships. Our cabin was furnished with among other things, a king size bed, 2 night tables, a small table with 2 chairs, a writing desk with chair, flat screen TV, mini-bar, small cabinet & a closet with 2 large drawers & safe. You can stow your suitcases under the bed. There are ample sockets for your electrical items. Our marbled bathroom was also roomy with a glass shower stall. We found our cabin very clean, comfortable & quiet, especially that the boat is anchored at night. The breakfast & lunch buffets have a good selection fresh fruit, cold cuts, bread & hot food. There is an egg & hot noodle area at the back of the buffet station. At night we had table service for dinner. When on excursions, we were split up in 3 small groups, each with a local tour guide & our own transportation. They even cleaned our shoes when coming back from our village visits. They also constantly reminded us to hydrate ourselves & provided water to do so. Overall, we found all the on-board staff to be very friendly, courteous & caring and the food served & all the services we'd received to be very good.

      AMA's Amadara on the Mekong
This was an exceptional river cruise (our second following a European cruise). AMA does a fantastic job: the ship was beautiful &well-maintained, the food excellent, our tour manager Touais exceptionally well-organized & helpful, the staff so pleasant. The itinerary was very interesting -- from Ho Chi Minh city through to Siem Reap & the temples of the Angkor Wat Archeological Park in Cambodia. We did the pre-cruise add-on in Ho Chi Minh City before embarking and then did the post-cruise excursion to Siem Reap. You can also go on to Hanoi and Ha Long Bay which we didn't do b/c we were going to see on a different leg of our trip, but our fellow travelers told us this part was every bit as good. It is not like a European cruise in that you are in poor countries & cannot walk off the ship at night to visit the towns: we usually anchored in the river overnight. But it is a very convenient & delightful way to see a part of the world that is otherwise difficult or slow to navigate by land. We saw & learned so much among wonderful people and rich cultures and AMA made it that much better. ONE NOTE: the photos that go with this category include more than the AMAdara which seemed the nicest ship of the ones we saw on the river.

Cruised the Amadara as part of AMA Waterways - First Class
This was my second river cruise, the first one was on the Nile in Egypt with a different company. This cruise was wonderful. My room on the ship was huge. There was always cold bottled water in my fridge in room as well as on the desk. Whenever we were on an excursion bottled water was also provided. This was a good thing because it was very hot and very humid the whole time of the cruise and excursions. Food on the ship was delicious and there was a great variety. The restaurant staff was willing to do just about any special request you had. My one complaint was that beer and wine were only free during meals. Since we spent so much time off the ship on excursions both mornings and afternoons it would have been nice when we had some time to hang out on the ship to be able to have these things provide free of charge. The guides provided during our excursions were top notch and helped us to understand so much of what we were seeing vs. touring the sites by ourselves. The entertainment on the ship was great. I was a bit surprised at how difficult it was to get to shore from the tenders, sometimes it was a real challenge. I was also surprised that besides a young couple most of the folks on my cruise were seniors, mostly retired. I did not expect this. There were 118 people on my cruise, I believe the ship holds 120 maximum. There were 6 of us traveling alone and most of us hung out together. I would say if you have no one to go on this cruise with don't fret, I had a great time and did not spend hardly any time by myself. One complaint I have is that the ship did not have wifi available in your stateroom. I blog about my trips after touring each day at night before I go to bed and had to go to one of the public spaces onboard to do this every night. This was a big inconvenience. Also when we were back onboard the ship the wifi would boot me off over and over and over again because it was being utilized to capacity. I think if you can afford it and can get the time off from work go on this cruise, it is a trip of a lifetime!

If you’ve got as far as reading this review, you’re considering an overnight Bassac tour! Just do it,
it was amazing! From the minute you board you are treated like VIP’s. The en -suite cabins are small but tastefully decorated and extremely clean. The food was exceptional, over and above what we expected. The presentation and quality of the food was outstanding.
All staff on board, without exception were friendly and efficient. We left the boat by tender to tour a local village and we’re given the option of a walking or cycling tour, followed by an opportunity to taste local produce before heading back to the boat in time for the sunset and an amazing dinner on deck. The next day, after a wonderful breakfast we visited the floating markets. We are so glad we included this trip in our itinerary. We loved every minute of it!

Beautiful boat. It was very relaxing to spend a couple of days on the boat and the cabin was bigger than we had expected (though still small of course). The food and drink were very high standard, and the trips out from the boat very well organised.

This is the most amazing trip you could go on. Everything was perfect.
Our guide Euey ( not sure on the spelling) was a perfect guide so knowledgeable, kind, helpful and his English was impeccable.
There was a tour of 21 French people and us so it felt like we had are own personal guide. Thank you.
We cycled, went to the floating market, watched a basket weaver in his own home.
We didn't stop eating and Compliments to the chef as the food was absolutely delicious.
All of the staff on this boat are great.
Highly recommend, don't miss out on this trip.

Great adventure. 2 days floating up the river, with a trip to a local village and chance to meet some of the locals and visit a floating market. Guide was excellent and very knowledgeable.
Soooo much food supplied, you will not go hungry that’s for sure. Tasty and freshly cooked ingredients.
Only one little issue - the cabins are very small, so be sure just to take the bare essentials. I know there is nothing that can be done about this, but just do be aware. Don’t let it put you off though.

absolutely amazing trip!! Treated like royalty as soon as you get on the boat with drinks and cold towels. The guide, Huey, was incredible- he knew about everything you would ask him and would always have a smile on his face. As a pescatarian, they were very accommodating to my food choices which is very appreciated and it was all lovely. We went on the most scenic bike ride- it was ethereal- and had some yummy native fruit in the middle of it. We also visited a floating market and a couple that made baskets which was so interesting to see. I absolutely recommend it to anyone thinking about it, it was once in a life time!

This is definitely recommended. This former rice barge has been transformed in to a lovely way to cruise. A lovely cabin with everything you could need. Food was amazing and plentiful along with the friendly and helpful staff. Visited a local village where you could either walk or cycle with a guide where you got to see how the locals live and work. The following morning was the floating markets and went ashore to a local market. Highly recommended

What a great way to see the Mekong River: lovely food and service, dream sunset and sunrise views. Room was small but perfectly formed! We were 2 of only 8 people on board, so facilities were excellent. Really enjoyed this experience, despite my reservations about cruises. The walk into the countryside was a particular high light of our holiday in Vietnam.

Just returned from a fantastic 2 day cruise onboard the Bassac. The trip exceeded expectations. The cabins are compact and well equipped, the food is excellent and the staff are, without exception, absolutely wonderful. The cycle round the village was a real highlight. We had an unforgettable trip.

A group of eight friends sailed from Can Tho to Cai Be and we loved every minute.
Our Bassac boat was elegantly furnished, comfortable and spacious.
The meals were beautifully presented and delicious.
It was pure joy to cruise the Mekong and its tributaries, see sunset and dawn, observe life on the river bank and it was oh so relaxing.
The afternoon excursion on land with optional walking/cycling was informative and fun.
The ride in small boats paddled by local villagers was fantastic and sailing through Cai Be floating market to a family owned rice paper making shop was great.
The very best thing, however, was our guide Trang. She is quite adorable, brilliant at her job, knowledgeable, informative, delightful to be with, courteous and charming. Trang is ably supported by the other crew members who went out of their way to make this a truly memorable time.
Our thanks also go to Mr Lan in the office for the extra value he added to our experience.
