- EWalla0 contributionsRiding through the Mekong Delta on BicyclesWe arranged the 3 day, 2 night Mekong Delta biking trip through Sinhbalo in HCMC. Our guide for the trip was Loc and he was key to making our trip a most excellent and safe dive into the world of Cuu Long (the river of nine dragons). He is originally from An Giang province in the delta and was a deep source of history and info. We spent the first night at the Coco Riverside Resort north of Tra Vinh which was an excellent $25 upgrade from the government-owned hotel in Tra Vinh that is part of the basic trip. It was beautiful, clean, tranquil, in the jungle and on one of the numerous canals in the delta. We think Sinhbalo should offer this as the standard lodging option. The second night we booked the Victoria Resort in Can Tho ourselves directly (low season deal) for the second night. It is classically luxurious. Just across a walking bridge from the heart of Can Tho and a raging deal in the low season. Loc showed us all kinds of out of the way paths, temples, sights, detours, etc. on our trip. We saw coconut peeling and processing, harvesting the milk, coconut caramel sugar getting made, rope production and a traditional boat repair facility all while avoiding the main roads (for the most part). We were invited to crash a wedding, take photos with the bride’s family and witness a Buddhist monk initiation ceremony at a Khmer temple that was mostly empty but for the initiate’s parents and a few monks. We met a small boat to check out both the Cai Riang floating market in Can Tho and then a cruise through some of the very small canals in the area. We were the only westerners we saw on the trip until Can Tho, and people of all ages said “hello!” constantly as we biked past. Loc also shared his people’s culture and a lot of insight into the burgeoning country of Vietnam. We highly recommend this trip!!Written September 25, 2023
- Dave A0 contributionsGreat experienceOur group of four did the three day Mekong Delta cycling tour. We had a fantastic trip and our guide Huy was excellent. I would highly recommend this trip.Written May 20, 2023
- howb20230 contributionsFamily fun cycling in the Meekong deltaCycling the laneways along the river was a highlight - each day had surprises - seeing locals picking fruit, building boats, weaving mats. Local guide Cong facilitated interactions, fruit tastings and conversations with the villagers - informative and fun. Thang skilfully negotiated the busy traffic and provided great support setting up and stowing bikes so that transitions were smooth and efficient. Cong designed routes taking into account our requests and cycling ability. We were very pleased with the trip and would recommend it to other families seeking a less touristy and active experience of the Mekong.Written January 5, 2023
- RachelF76080 contributionsHighly recommended tour and companyI did a private 3-day tour of the Mekong Delta with 3 friends in November 2022. Sinhbalo offered a great itinerary packing in loads of the area’s highlights at a very reasonable price. They responded to all of my emails quickly and were easy to deal with. The tour itself was excellent, including a great mix of lots of different boat trips, opportunities to see local life and industries, fantastic scenery and overnight hotel stays in large towns too. Our guide Ngan Danh was so knowledgeable and friendly, also acting as our unofficial trip photographer and sending us all his photos. I would highly recommend a trip with Sinhbalo, and will definitely use them again if visiting the area again in the future.Written December 23, 2022
- Discover378541983380 contributionsExtraordinary bike tour to explore the Mekong DeltaExtraordinary bike tour to explore the Mekong Delta mixed with some boat trips. A must do if you want to get a sense of the life within and the vast size of the Mekong Delta. Temperature and humidity are challenging for northern Europeans but when riding on the bike the air stream makes it endurable. Our guide Mr. Hai was very nice and pleasant to talk to - and due to his good English really our gateway to understanding Vietnam as we could ask all the questions that had accumulated over time. Highly recommend the tour although next time we would opt for electric bikes :)Written November 14, 2022
- Andrzej_Suchodolski0 contributionsAwesome 3 days around Mekong deltaWe took 3-day private Mekong delta trip. The sites were quite remote, so lots of driving, but with beautiful landscapes on the way. The transportation was comfortable. Our tour guide was very polite and helpful. Accommodation 3-4* hotels, pretty new with spacious and clean rooms. The sightseeing - nothing spectacular, but fully met our expectations. It was interesting to see, how people live and work, what do they plant and grow etc. The floating houses, fish farms, rice paper production, walking in the forest or around villages was nice, although tons of plastic trash everywhere put a pinch of salt into the whole experience. Lots of boat trips in the Mekong river and surrounding canals. Everything well organized, well deserved 5.Written March 3, 2020
- joannf3620 contributionsGreat trip, great guideMy wife and I took the 2 day 1 night bike trip to the Mekong delta. The trip consisted of about 20 miles per day of easy bike riding along paved bike trails abutting narrow waterways. They are all well off the beaten track. The roads are flat and easy to negotiate with only an occasional motorbike to compete with. The views consist mostly of the streams on one side and the farms on the other. Every mile or so reveals small villages with school houses , small housestays, and eating establishments. We were always greeted with smiles and hellos along the way. Aside from the bike ride, there are several boat trips in areas where the river widens. These are all on small boats large enough to accommodate 4 or so passengers. The boating excursions were to the floating market, a tiny boat restaurant where we were served fresh fruit by 2 delightful women, and an island in the river where we were served a banquet for 4 despite there only being 2 of us. We also made stops along the way at a Cambodian and Vietnamese Pagoda, both of which were amazing. Our lodging at the Bamboo Eco Village was a highlight. Perhaps the nicest place we have ever stayed in the 6 continents we have visited. Exquisite grounds , room, and food. Cannot recommend this homestay enough.Written February 7, 2020
- jessepw0 contributionsGreat way to see the countryside! We did a two day trip that included cycling both days and boat trips on the second. Our guides and drivers were great. Super informative, incredibly nice, always offering cold water. This trip is great if you completely want to put the planning and logistics in someone else's hands. Your luggage goes in a chase vehicle so you're biking light. The floating market in fantastic, and being able to see the country side, biking through small towns is really beautiful. You tour a few local business, which we liked, and while there was an opportunity to buy their stuff at the end, there was no pushiness, which was really welcome. Ultimately, this is about the guides. Ours were great. Informative, kind, constantly pointing out the bounty of fruits that grow in the region. They accomodated our group of 7 amazing, considering we had a pretty wide range of fitness and comfort on bikes. Highly recommended!Written January 14, 2020
- blairandsarahCDA0 contributionsHello! Hello! Hello! 😀 in the Mekong DeltaMy family of 3 (2 adults, 1 11 year old) enjoyed cycling through the Mekong Delta with Cong as our guide. You bicycle through different farming communities live amongst their crops—rice, dragon fruit, durian, jackfruit, bananas—and how they go to market with boat excursions on the Mekong River. One night is a rural homestay in a nice historic home and the other is urban in a hotel in Can Tho. The best part is cycling past all the homes and sharing a smile, a wave and a hello with the kids...who eagerly greet you too 😀 Be prepared for almost 40 degree heat and rougher, narrower (but pretty much flat) paths than you might be used to cycling at home. There’s always enough water and cool towels at each break 🥵 Bring your own snacks if you need more consistent fuel during the day. Cong was a very accommodating guide who worked to our needs as a private group 👍🏼Written January 6, 2020
- ClareH9240 contributionsWonderful tour, highly recommendedMy friend and I really really enjoyed our 4 day, 3 night cycle tour of the Mekong Delta with Sinhbalo and would recommend it unreservedly to anyone wanting to see this part of the world by bike. First, our guide, Loc. He did a great job. He was always on time, gave us great information at each place we visited, took us to really good restaurants and ordered a wonderful range of dishes that we hadn't tried before. He was super helpful with my friend who had raging tonsillitis for the whole trip. He did everything he could to make the trip comfortable and meet both our needs, given that my friend needed to rest while I felt fine and could do the usual itinerary. On that note, I also want to acknowledge how great the company was regarding last minute changes to our group (a third friend was supposed to join us but had also been taken down by some super flu bug) and changing our accommodation to a hotel instead of a homestay so we could be closer to a hospital on the last night. The tour lived up to the description given to us regarding getting off the beaten path. I think we saw other tourists cycling only once in four days and that was only when we had to use a larger road to get to the next smaller path. The routes we took had a different feel each time and we felt like we got to see a nice range of places in the delta. Cycling on little paths between the houses and having the local children call out hello to us as we went past was my favorite part. The tour included a nice mix of cycling, activities such as boat tours of a mangrove forest, fish farms and a floating market, and downtime to relax. Pretty much everything is included in the price apart from a few drinks. It was really enjoyable to not think about organising anything or paying for anything for those days. All in all, I highly recommend both our guide, Loc, and the company as a whole. You won't regret taking one of their tours.Written January 4, 2020
- Clive C0 contributionsWonderful cycle trip.Just had an excellent 3 day trip through the Mekong Delta with Loc. I can honestly say there wasn't any thing I didn't enjoy. If I was to be picky then it was a bit stressful finding our own food on the first night... but with the help of Google maps and Google translate we managed to find a place with good food and 14 cold beers for 15 dollars... but no one in this town spoke english and I mean no one. I would also warn any one how is a bit squeamish and expect western facilities and views on animal welfare to maybe think twice. I found it to be a great adventure and we were looked after very well, there was lots to see and many interactions with locals. I highly recommend this trip to anyone with a spirit of adventure....Written September 12, 2019
- Navigate5988320 contributionsExcellent 3 day cycling tour SBL8The cycling tour in the Mekong Delta was the most beautiful tour during our 4 weeks-holiday in Vietnam. Lots of cycling through different landscapes on small tracks. The ATB bikes were in very good condition. Cycling alternated with very interesting visits to temples, a market, a dragon fruit farm, ferry transports and the floating market. Very well organized and great guidance by Loc and our driver Thang. During our trip nice coffee breaks, and great food. Especially the vegetarian restaurant was excellent. The Homestay in the old French House was really exceptional. Thank you Loc!Written August 9, 2019
- Erwin G0 contributionsMekong Delta Cycling Tour 4 Days with tour guide Quang: excellentWe just returned from the 4 days cycling tour through Mekong Delta. Our tourguide Quang and the driver delivered us an unforgetable experience: lot's of variation with cycling, site seeting, boating, activities, ... . The service was great and Quang provided lot's of information about the Mekong Delta. He clearly knows this place extremely well. We travelled with a family with 2 kids (11 and 14 years old) and both the driver and tour guide were extremely friendly to them.Written August 8, 2019
