About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- AdventuresOnPlanet0 contributionsQuite heartbreaking, but a must-watch for all.Travel all the way to Vietnam for the stories and the pictures on the walls alone. Resilience is something you won't understand unless you study Vietnam.Written October 4, 2024
- asarad0 contributionsGreat but Harrowing ExperienceGreat museum, tells very well the horrors of war, especially when one side has all the power. Terribly sad in another way, especially in relation to effects of agent orange on the local peopleWritten October 3, 2024
- cherylcF2049GZ0 contributionsA time forgottenAn honest look at the Vietnam/American war from the Vietnamese perspective. Get the audio tour for more in depth history. Graffic display of war and aftermath.A must see if you visit Ho Chi Minh City.Written October 3, 2024
- 730matthew0 contributionsGood visitWe visited the museum by ourselves. We hired the audio tour ( English ) which we think is a must if you want to truly enjoy and understand the tour. The museum do not have air conditioning, they only have fan , so be prepared it will be very hot . The museum provided lots of graphic photos , it is very sad to see them but I think it is very important to look at the perspective of the Vietnamese ‘ people. Overall I would recommend this museumWritten October 1, 2024
- Vacationer6090890 contributionsRequired history lesson!V sad but really important viewing It is very graphic but how else do we make sure it doesn’t happen again! Definitely make sure you wear insect repellent and eat a good meal before you leaveWritten September 28, 2024
- K2312CMmariusl0 contributionsA powerful and moving look at the Vietnam WarThe exhibits, including photographs, artifacts, and accounts of the impact of Agent Orange, are deeply affecting. While difficult to witness, the museum provides crucial historical context and encourages reflection on the realities of war.Written September 25, 2024
- Tommy5990 contributionsNot a place I would want to revisit againThis is a very depressing museum. There are photographs of which only about 10% of which us back in the US ever observed on TV or within periodicals. Yea some would say lots of Communist Propaganda, but no denying it = the photos are VERY effective of what hell looked like when it comes to war!!! Asian peoples can be somewhat brutal to one another, and when American solders see what is going on they can get right in there with the brutality, especially when they lose friends in battle. There is a separate section which shows the birth defects effect consequences from the spraying of the defoliant “Agent Ornge”. This is one museum, Americans should see, but NOT a location I would want to revisit! The photos were shot by photojournalist, of which many lost their lives in the conflict. I am not too sure X US Vietnam vets would like to view what is displayed within the inhumane consequence of war that is on display, that some of our troops got involved in. What we observed matched the Four moves you may have seen (quite well): • Apocalypse Now • Full Metal Jacket • The Deer Hunter • Ken Burns “The Vietnam War” At the end of the war, most South Vietnamese wealthy individuals left the city, thus the government gave their property / homes / apartments to high-ranking North Vietnamese military officers.Written September 23, 2024
- Fredrick C0 contributionsEye-opening journey through historyWe visited the War Remnants Museum with friends and were deeply moved by the exhibits. The displays on US soldiers and Vietnamization were particularly impactful, offering a raw look at the wars realities. The museums focus on peace and reconciliation and we reflect on the importance of understanding history. Its a must-visit for anyone in Ho Chi Minh City, providing a powerful and educational experience. Highly recommended for history buffs and curious travelers alike!Written September 20, 2024
- Excursion603567785120 contributionsI am sorryI felt very sad while visiting this place. I am against war. Why is humanity so cruel? Memories flashed before my eyes. It can be visited as an example, but I saw that some people enjoyed it, and I was very sorry.Written September 17, 2024
- 732superhike0 contributionsWorth a visitWe spend couple of hours in this museum. It's a must to go if you like history. Its a self-guided tour. We got to learn about the past, the war, anti-war movement and the horrible chemical weapon which still have huge impact on the locals till today.Written September 16, 2024
- bryanwC8535FQ0 contributionsFascinating and emotional experienceAs someone who love history, war remnants museum is a must to visit. Heartfelt to read some of the exhibition on the impact of Vietnam wars especially the chemical warfare (Agent Orange). There are lesson to learnt especially the impact of French colonization and the Vietnam war (part of Cold War).Written September 15, 2024
- devidpieratti0 contributionsStop all the atrocities of the warThis museum, the atmosphere that you breathe and feel when you’re walking through all the documents, pictures and relics is emotionally devastating. I was born in these times but I’ve never saw with my eyes the atrocities of that war…. A true open eyes moment….Written September 14, 2024
- cb5120160 contributionsVery emotional experienceThis is really gripping and emotional experience. We took the audio guide and lots of information to absorb. Audio guide requires a deposit Very warm but they do have lots of fans working and so much to see. Entry fee very reasonable. It has a cafe and good toiletsWritten September 14, 2024
- taqueeney0 contributionsFascinating experience with a strong dose of politicsI had been looking g forward to learning more about the wars that have occurred in Vietnam to see a different opinion . A different opinion is certainly what you get when you get with a very strong anti US flavour . A lot of mentions regarding the atrocities US forces committed while VC come across as saints. Terrible to read and learn of the impact such wars had in n local people and the longer term impact chemical warfare has had in Vietnam . If there are lessons to be learnt , we need to stop wars as those hurt most are the innocentWritten September 13, 2024
- Karenusher0 contributionsMoving, eye openingVery moving, eye opening, educational. Embarrassed to say that I didnt know much about the war, but glad to say I have learnt so much about it thanks to this museum. My children were also facinated. Lots of reading, loads of graphic and sad pictures, I think it is needed though to get the full extent of what happened. The only thing I would say and be prepared - It is not air conditioned at all, its very hot in the summer, it opens early so go early in the morning. When we went it wasnt crowded, spent quite a long time here, so much to read! Also be ready to have people try to beg for money as soon as you walk in the gate, showing you injuries that they sustained in the war.Written September 10, 2024

My husband and I had a fun day touring the Mekong Delta, led by Sally. The bus journey was easy going and lively as Sally kept us informed with her good English speaking skills and laughing with her funny and witty humour. The boat trip was a good experience too. On the whole, very enjoyable!
