What to expect
  • The aroma from the abundance of food fills the city’s streets. There are many street stalls and restaurants that one is bound to never go hungry. Some popular Vietnamese delectable includes: Soups and Noodles. A very popular type of dish is pho, which consists of rice noodles, complemented with either beef or pork, fresh green scallions, and a light beef broth drizzled with squeezed lime for a sour and tangy taste. Fish and Meats. One of the highlights of the Vietnamese menu is its delicious assortment of fish, whether it is freshwater or saltwater. The more famous dish is cha ca, which is white fish sautéed in butter served with rice noodles and sprinkled crushed peanuts for the finishing touch. Meats in Vietnam are either be served alongside main dishes or presented as an entrée itself. Many of the meat are simply beef, chicken or pork. Vegetarian. For those wanting to skip the meat diet, vegetarian cuisine is also very trendy amongst Vietnamese. Buddhist monks, who were very conscience of eating healthier, first introduced the diet. Some appetizing dishes include a mix of onions, tomatoes, bean sprouts, various mushrooms, peppers, and tofu. Fruits. Because of Vietnam’s tropical climate, there is a plethora of fruits. Some of the most sought-out ones are durians, bananas, passion fruits, lychees, longans, and mangos. Many times these fruits can be complimented on desserts, such as shaved ice, or simply be eaten as a delectable snack. Beverages. Quench your thirst with freshly squeezed sugar cane juice for your sweet cravings, fresh coconuts from the Mekong Delta, or wind down with a cup of coffee with some friends. Vietnamese coffee is usually made in an aluminum filter cup that slowly drips finely, grinded coffee beans poured over hot water with a dollop of condense milk. Better yet, if you want to immerse yourself with a larger crowd, try some of Vietnam’s popular alcoholic drinks including bottled beers like Saigon and 333.

Exceeded our expectations
Jan 2020
We booked this tour because we wanted to taste the flavors of Ho Chi Minh City and we got so much more. We were able to arrange a pick-up at our cruise terminal and our guide, Leah, took advantage of the time to tell us so much about the area and history of HCM. Once we reached the market area, Leah took us from place to place, explaining about the food and all the sights we were seeing. At our request, we combined the food tour with a general tour so we were able to see the top spots of the city before delving into the market. Even with the numerous closures due to the New Year celebrations, we were treated to Pho, Vietnamese pancakes, spring rolls, crab in a clay pot, a Vietnamese flan dessert, and coffee.Everything was delicious! Leah kept us learning the whole time and our conversation never wavered. She helped us shop in the market and get good prices on a few things to take home. The pictures she took and shared are amazing and the memories will last a lifetime. I can't express enough what a wonderful day this was and what a wonderful person Leah is. Thank you!

This night food tour was splendid! This is an experience one should not miss. The food were authentic and unpretentious yet delicious! Loved the Vietnamese pancake/crepe. Leah, my guide, was great, informative and fun to be with! Highly recommended and will definitely book another tour if I'm back at HCMC.

Great food and great people!
This was a great tour! With only 2 days in Ho Chi Minh we wanted to eat and see as much as possible in a short time, and this was a great add in to our trip! The food was great and explained in great detail by our guides Swang and Quan. We were also told cool facts as we drive between the different restaurants both about the food and the city. So above and beyond my expectations. And the cherry on top was the donation a part of the fee went towards helping local children or people. Such a great idea! I will definitely do this tour again if I come back!

This night food tour on the back of a motorbike is excellent! There were four in our group and we had the best time. We're all big people so were a bit worried how the 40kg riders would cope, but wow - they were fantastic. They drove us around Saigon during the night time traffic like pros - I felt completely safe and comfortable the whole time. The food was amazing. Our first stop was a local eatery specialising in pork sausage and spring roll noodles. They were hot, delicious and plentiful. To pace myself, I only ate a small portion. My husband and friends got carried away and almost finished their bowls, which they totally regretted. Next we tried rice rolls - like I've never eaten before. These were my favourites - I won't say too much, as I don't want to spoil the element of surprise. We then rode on to a Vietnamese crepe place - wow. They came with fresh greens and sauces - we even got to try our hand at making them. They matched beautifully with the local beer. Finally, we tried a selection of Vietnamese deserts - they were a mix of jelly and coconut creams and juices - we loved them. At the end of the tour our drivers delivered us safe and sound back to our hotel. Although we were full to bursting, we were all sad it was over - the tine flew by. A great bunch of young guides, and a very exciting and flavour-filled night on the town! Well worth the price.
