- Bostonian290 contributionsA Flavorful Adventure Through Hanoi: Incredible Food, Culture, and Thrills! If you’re visiting Hanoi, this food tour is an absolute must! From start to finish, it was an unforgettable experience. Tom was an incredible guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about both the food and the history of Hanoi. He provided us with tons of educational background on each dish and its cultural significance, which really enriched the experience. Come hungry! This tour was by far the most food we’ve ever had on a food tour. The portions were substantial, and there were several stops along the way to enjoy a variety of dishes. We got to try some amazing local specialties like Nem Nướng, Nha Trang, Bún chả, Bánh Cuốn, Bánh rán, and Khô Bò Sa Tế. Each dish was delicious and unique, and we felt like we truly got to experience the best of Hanoi’s food scene. One of the highlights of the tour was having front-row seats on Train Street, where we enjoyed local beers while watching a train zoom by just inches from us—what an experience! If you want to taste authentic Hanoi food and get an inside look at the city’s culinary culture, don’t miss this tour! We highly recommend it.Written February 7, 2025

- setnurse0 contributionsA Truly Authentic Culinary Experience in HanoiMy cooking class in Hanoi, Vietnam, was fantastic and one of the most authentic experiences I've ever had. The class was more than just cooking—it was an immersive journey into the local culture. We started our day by visiting bustling local markets, where we were given Vietnamese currency to purchase fresh ingredients. This hands-on approach allowed us to interact with local vendors, making the experience even more genuine. After gathering our ingredients, we headed to a local home, where the real magic happened. Cooking in an actual Vietnamese kitchen, surrounded by the warm hospitality of our hosts, made the experience incredibly special. Tom, our guide, along with the other students, made the entire process enjoyable and educational. The food we prepared was delicious, but what made this class outstanding was the connection we felt with the local people and their way of life. It was not just a cooking class but a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture. Thank you, Tom, and all the students, for making this experience so amazing!Written August 16, 2024

Had a really enjoyable couple of hours with the guide, bot faced paced at times but we managed to keep up with him, just! Interesting facts and history stories, great to try some local delicacies and fruits along the way. Obvious highlight was the train, strange feeling with that machine being so close, didn’t slow down too much either. Guide got us a great spot in a cafe right by the track about 10 minutes because the train came. Thanks for a great experience

I booked a custom 6am walking tour for our group of six. Our guide, Mr. Tu, met us, on time, in front of the Puppet Theater. We wanted to see some of the early morning activities especially people dancing and exercising around Hoan Kiem lake. We were not disappointed. Tu also took us into the side streets to see vendors setting up their restaurants for the day and into a very small shop for a delicious soup and afterwards to an upstairs shop for utterly delicious egg coffee. We most appreciated his willingness to accommodate our last-minute request to walk over the Long Bien bridge. He flagged two taxis and then made the long walk over the Red River with us. On the other side he got two taxis to take us back to our hotel. Since few of the taxi drivers seemed to speak English, we really appreciated his help. He was warm and informative- we really enjoyed our time with him.

Great to see the train come through - was glad it was a complete train - I had seen a video of an engine or single car train (and ensuing giggles) but this was great. Shocking how close the train comes to everyone and I’d be surprised if they didn’t lose a few drunken tourists every year. The street is beautiful, all lit up with lanterns. Recommended.

Mint was amazing! She took us around to a few different spots for appetizers and main dishes, then dessert at two locations! Handled all the ordering and payment so it was lovely to sit and relax listening to her explain how the different dishes originated and what is in them. Mint was so kind and lovely, giving us other recommendations for places to visit other days while we were in Hanoi. THANK YOU MINT 🍃💕

Tom gave an amazing tour, taking us through alleys and explaining different words in Vietnamese. Because our group was small, we had a chance to try a couple of street foods along the way. Once the train passed, Tom took pictures of us and with us before we walked back to the starting point. We really enjoyed our tour and would be happy to recommend him to others!

This was part of our private full day tour. Our guide got us there early to bag us a prime seat track side and we had a beer and were left with the bottle tops which we later found out were to place on the train track. It soon got busy and then all the tables were collapsed and I was told to tuck my knees in as the train would get very close (I’m 6 foot 3)
They were not kidding. This is an Instagram moment but fun never the less

Einstein picked us up from our hotel and our walking tour through the streets of Hanoi commenced the moment we left the building.
Einstein took us down streets and laneways l would never had ventured down and provided great insights and commentary around the rich history and culture of the Vietnamese people and what we were seeing.
The tour ended at Train Street with a lovely cold drink and the train coming through.
Thank you Einstein we really enjoyed our morning with you!

The tour of Hanoi's Old Quarter led by Mr. Anh was exciting and fun-filled, taking me to places that travelers cannot go on their own.
He also guided me to Train Street just in time for the train to arrive.
I highly recommend Mr. Anh's tour of the Old Quarter to any traveler to Hanoi.
